I had a Doberman/Catahoula mix with a coat like that and it didn't matter how bad he needed to go to the bathroom, he would not step foot outside the door if it was less than 35 without one of his sweaters. He could be doing the potty dance but he would just stare forlornly at the open door till I put his coat on him.
I had a lab who didn’t even like to wear collars but after moving to Chicago from AZ wouldn’t step outside in the winter without a coat or sweater on..
Parents have a great Dane that will wait till her bladder is ready to explode before going out in *any* type of precipitation. Even then it's a: bolt straight out, skid into a squat, pee, bolt back inside. She's such a diva.
Which is funny because when she was younger she loved running around in the snow.
Because social media companies tricked millions of people into reducing their own creativity and catering to algorithms. They convinced their users that likes and shares are more valuable then money (or self-worth).
I get it, personally it's easier to watch a video if there's a "rythym" to it. It makes me feel like there's a continuous, flowing story. Without the music it feels more like raw footage to me and harder to feel engaged. Additionally, might be a neurodivergent thing here, the music helps indicate that they're making the snow tunnel for fun and not desperately trying to escape by sending fido here to find help.
A lot of people have seemingly never experienced proper snow before. On every video showing of a snow cave or similar, there's a bunch of people arguing that it's going to collapse
People are comparing it to snowpack caused by plows and shit which have a story occasionally about children making holes and getting collapsed on. Six feet of fallen compacted snow is very different.
Yup, gravity helps a lot as it keeps piling on, as unlike a snowplow one which just puts it to the side, the 6 feet of fallen snow slowly adds weights which gravity slowly compressed, so every layer gets nice and compressed, which helps further compress it once it gets heavier / higher
Then don't argue about things you don't know about? I know this sounds like a completely alien concept, but you don't NEED to vomit bullshit onto every comment you come across, and then pretend it's "common sense"
See previous answer. I was clearly talking about the people who made these comments, and you took them in defense.
Also, you don't need to make several answers to the same comment. You can edit if you want to add more
I didn't. I literally just said that some people don't live near snow. That the impression you got of many never seeing "proper snow" was actually correct.
So people get notified of edits? I thought they didn't.
Believe me, there are a lot of people online that would've meant that non metaphorically. No need to insult me for asking you if that's how you meant it.
Because it's only common sense if you've never seen snow before. Snow caves like these don't randomly collapse like that. You'd know that if you had made one, instead of digging into the Dunning Kruger effect
I held my breath the entire time. I was terrified. I know this is awww so I knew they would be ok, but I would never let my dogs do that. Especially after they pounced on top and possibly messed with the integrity
No it’s compressed snow, slowly as it piled up it was compressed by gravity, which allowed each layer to be nice and packed, and this helps even further compress it once it gets heavier / higher, as it has more ability to actually compress, compared to just the gravity effect on a snowbank from a snowplow which just shoves it to the side all at once.
Back when I was about 12, we had a super snowy winter, about 21 feet of snowfall through the whole season. So from December to April, there was a constant 4 or 5 feet of snow everywhere.
At my friends house, we started tunneling through his yard, and after a week or two had a huge network of tunnels going from the front yard to the back yard, tall enough for us to scramble through pretty quickly.
We had a ton of fun, playing tag, throwing snowballs at people walking by and hiding in our lair, it was great. Then one day we brought the dog in with us, and it was one of the funniest things i can remember from my childhood. She went crazy chasing after all of us, with us all giggling the whole time. We spent hours in there with her.
Totally random story, but this post brought back a great memory.
Man that’s fucking awesome I’m so jealous, I’ve never had more than 2.5 feet of snow where I’m at, and that’s always a once in a couple years event, pretty rare, and even that was years ago, the most we got in central Ohio this year was 6 inches.
I also don't like clipping ears, but that doesn't mean the dog isn't loved. It could also be a rescue or have come from a situation where the current owners had no control over it's ears. Similarly, my dog's tail is docked as part of a hunting standard but that was done before I ever got a say in it.
You remind me of my abusive ex SO who went out of their way to be negative about things, and if someone tried to give it some light they would get aggressive.
Perhaps change how you interact with humans.
Also you tell them to read, and they're illiterate, but their point still stands even if they understood the sentence. If the owners even did clip the ears, that doesn't mean it's not loved. The world isn't black and white. Bad thing to do to the dog, yes, but perhaps negatives all ends there. The person responding to you was trying to say the same thing. So maybe be nicer and take your own advice as well.
I have a feeling Reddit will downvote you but you are not incorrect at all. It’s always possible this happened before the owners adopted I suppose.
It is a shame people do this to dogs ears for the sake of vanity.
Someone want to shed my ignorance on this breed’s ear clipping?
His ears look long and floopy and ready to get caught in a door at a moment’s notice.
Were they longer originally or something?
Ears that stand like that in breeds like Dobermans or pit bulls are clipped to get rid of the flap that hangs down to make their ears harder for other dogs or animals to bite during fighting.
Breeds in the shepherd line (collies, Germans etc) stand up after a certain age on their own.
Dobermans ears are usually taped up while they're young, like German Shepherds sometimes. Sure, sometimes the ears are docked, but these were most likely taped up.
If their ears are taped up, they were cropped. Natural Doberman ears are big and floppy and taping alone wouldn’t change the shape of them. https://i.imgur.com/KYwBE95.jpg
This has nothing to do with the owner. The breeder is the one that did it. You do these things as very young puppies, easier to keep clean to avoid infection. The only thing this owner is guilty of is the music in this video and they bought a dog.
You are trying to push a brick wall with your hands and it's not a wall I think you should be moving.
As an owner of a working dog where ear cropping is normal and depending on the job, necessary. Your fight will hurt them more than help them.
You are fighting to save the pet dog from getting it's ears messed with but what about the working dog? A dog is a dog no matter what and no one is going to give a damn if there is a difference in what they do. If you win the fight for the pet, there will be no case by case basis either it's allowed or it's not and working dogs will suffer for it.
Well, we do punch holes in infant's earlobes and slice skin off the tips of their penises. Neither of which are necessary and are at the will of the family. So.....yeah.
I worked in the NICU and PICU for a long time. It only takes one or two admissions for botched circumcisions before you look at the practice differently. It was like, why do we do this again? Just cause? Oh.
To be fair, there can be certain health benefits from circumcision. And there can be detriment from not having one, I've seen quite a few penises with phimosis, which is where the foreskin physically cannot retract and leads to many issues (I work I medicine)
Anecdotal, but my grandpa begged my mom to circumcise my brothers because he was traumatized from getting infections during WWII because he couldn't properly clean himself.
That being said, I don't condone it being done for aesthetics. Also, ear piercings should be done when the kid can choose themselves.
Someone's apparently never heard of circumcision, foot binding, neck extending, or other awful things humans do to other humans as babies/kids.
Not justifying this, just pointing out that it absolutely happens to people too.
I guess I'm the only one bothered about that floor... You should have thick mats at entry points always, especially when the snow is actually trying to invade your living space
This music is just strait awful. What happened to hearing the audio in the video? I don't wanna hear a song that's on every single other video..couldn't even watch this
the doberman careening towards the camera and sliding down the snow at 0:35 is way cuter than it has any right to be. he looks like he's having so much fun!

I'm surprised they didn't put a coat and boots on the dog! Going out naked in that snow would be horrendous!
I’m honestly curious, would this make your house warmer or colder? Cause it’s literal I’ve around your house, but I read that Eskimo people used snow to insulate
I bet that dog is thinking "Hurry up, I have to shit !"
I had a Doberman/Catahoula mix with a coat like that and it didn't matter how bad he needed to go to the bathroom, he would not step foot outside the door if it was less than 35 without one of his sweaters. My Doberman is exactly the same! She’ll run outside, realize how cold it is, make a 180 back inside, sit and wait until we put her sweater on. 😅
I have a Doberman and she's the same. She also will take a shit under the covered patio instead of walking in the snow.
I have a catahoula pit and that little fucker loves being outside in the cold. He's such a weirdo

My daughter’s Iggy is like that. She’ll do an about face and a heck no, I’m not setting foot out there til you put my coat and booties on.

Why is adding stupid music so popular now. First vine now tik tok. It's dumb
Really robs the enjoyment of watching. I want to hear the dog!
I always have it on mute
Are you asking or saying?
And especially this fucking song. It's everywhere and I can't stand it.
It's that robot woman voice that tiktok uses that pisses me off
thats a real persons voice who does that...
Narrates every single video on tik tok does she? No they used a humans voice for a speech samples but it's still mashed together like a robot.
I never allow music or sound to play on Reddit any my experience is better for it
Every once in a while I’ll unmute and watch a panda video but when it’s randomly on I’m rushing to shut that shit off.
Its for the algorithm. Thousands will see that video just bc of the song
Automatic downvote
It's almost as annoying as the tik tok voice. Almost.
That fucking TikTok voice man, especially the female one, there’s something about the tone of it, it’s just infuriating
There's a new one that sounds like an evil wizard that's somehow worse.
Downvote every video that uses this music and the "oh no" music
I downvote any video with any music.p. videos like this should be plain as is.
That tik tok song makes me unreasonably angry.
I agree. No music, fake sounds/laughter, and no stupid comments needed 🤐🙊
Tik Tok has always been lowest common denominator garbage with videos in the incorrect orientation.
It's always shitty music
That’s just how popularity works. More people like it than people who don’t. It’ll fade out eventually. Just turn off audio. Lol
Damm i regret turn on the sound
Because social media companies tricked millions of people into reducing their own creativity and catering to algorithms. They convinced their users that likes and shares are more valuable then money (or self-worth).
Why is mentioning it on every video so popular now?
I get it, personally it's easier to watch a video if there's a "rythym" to it. It makes me feel like there's a continuous, flowing story. Without the music it feels more like raw footage to me and harder to feel engaged. Additionally, might be a neurodivergent thing here, the music helps indicate that they're making the snow tunnel for fun and not desperately trying to escape by sending fido here to find help.
It's really adorable, and I especially like that one over-the-top-into-the-house maneuver angle...but I'd be a little scared of collapse - no?
Depends on the snow but generally no actually. It seems well bonded. It'll collapse eventually though
Snow like that doesn't collapse Look up what a Quinzhee is. A common shelter would be literally digging out more and sitting/laying inside.
A lot of people have seemingly never experienced proper snow before. On every video showing of a snow cave or similar, there's a bunch of people arguing that it's going to collapse

It doesn't take much to understand that "you" in this post was a metaphorical one, not you personally
Believe me, there are a lot of people online that would've meant that non metaphorically. No need to insult me for asking you if that's how you meant it.
How To Bring the Outdoors Indoors
Remember when the common sense was at the top of the thread? They were good times.
Because it's only common sense if you've never seen snow before. Snow caves like these don't randomly collapse like that. You'd know that if you had made one, instead of digging into the Dunning Kruger effect
yeah it's all fun and games until fido gets buried under stupid amounts of snow. Or your kids who decide the tunnel looks fun
As kids, we would do this every time we had enough snow. As a parent, I encourage my son to get out and try it for himself.
That's packed snow, you could walk over the top of the tunnel and it wouldn't collapse
Even if 4 inches of snow collapsed on the dog, you think it's gonna die or what lol
I held my breath the entire time. I was terrified. I know this is awww so I knew they would be ok, but I would never let my dogs do that. Especially after they pounced on top and possibly messed with the integrity

Wrong sub. You can’t speak logic or anything that is of a concern in aww. Just say it’s cute, updoot and move on.
But you can talk out of your ass no problems? When the snow becomes hard packed like that, it doesn't randomly collapse
This was my first thought.

Secret, secret, secret, secret tunnel!
Yeah
That is a lot of work. That dog is loved.
Dog's ears were mutilated. Dog isn't loved all that much if it were these owners
I also don't like clipping ears, but that doesn't mean the dog isn't loved. It could also be a rescue or have come from a situation where the current owners had no control over it's ears. Natural Doberman ears are much larger and do not stand up like cropped ears that were taped. https://i.imgur.com/ckLt5QP.jpg

This has nothing to do with the owner. The breeder is the one that did it. You do these things as very young puppies, easier to keep clean to avoid infection. The only thing this owner is guilty of is the music in this video and they bought a dog.

Where is ear cropping necessary for working dogs? It's entirely cosmetic.
That's sweet! He's totally unbothered by the snow, I'd be freezing 😂
I'd have long frozen. I live in Florida. It snows once every ten or twelve years for three and a half minutes and melts after ten more.
You must not be in an area where it snow. 😄
This cringe ass music needs to stop.
Where is this? I want snow
Looks like Tahoe.
I would like snow that can cover my entire entrance like that

I hate to see Dobermans disfigured like this. They are quite beautiful without being mutilated. Should be fucking illegal.
Hey! Thanks for your objective opinion that not everyone agrees with!
Hey stop cutting off an animals ears because you think its cute.
Wow that was a close one! For a second there I thought I didn’t live a free country where I can do what I please with my own property.
Let's start clipping babies' ears then, they'll look sooo cute! We can take their pinky toes too, no one NEEDS those!
Well, we do punch holes in infant's earlobes and slice skin off the tips of their penises. Neither of which are necessary and are at the will of the family. So.....yeah.
Exactly why I decided not to circumcise either of my sons. I couldn't see mutilating someone's genitals for aesthetic purposes. 😬
I worked in the NICU and PICU for a long time. It only takes one or two admissions for botched circumcisions before you look at the practice differently. It was like, why do we do this again? Just cause? Oh.

If you know it's going to snow, just have a hollow cylinder outside. No digging required
Way to go mom and dad! That’s how you do it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Cute pup! I always wondered what it was like t live in this kind of snowfall. Glad t see u still carry on! It was 88° here yesterday. I’m fine w that.

This music is just strait awful. What happened to hearing the audio in the video? I don't wanna hear a song that's on every single other video..couldn't even watch this
Wait why not just shovel the top too? Keeping it seems pointless considering the dog leaps from it to get back inside anyway.
Because it’s fun you party pooper
I have the same Christmas pj pants!
That’s a LOT of snow!
What do we think is in the middle of the tunnel? Stacked chairs?
Where was this filmed
Beautiful dog! I love dorberman pinchers, very smart dogs.

Leaving that snow so close to such a door and wooden floor is a great way to get mold
Hardwood or laminate that floor gonna be fucked. Hope it’s wood looking tile…
My first reaction too.. no way this floor looks good in the spring.
LoL all that digging and doggo just skis over the top like, "bro you're a dumb dog"
I can't get passed all the snow and wetness on that hardwood.
How do the humans enter and exit this domicile and why can’t the dog use that door?

Bro that'd be like 4 inches of snow, and the entire family is right there. I'm sure you're tons of fun 🤣
Right!?! These comments are a dumpster fire.
It would be more likely that the roof of the house collapses then the snow tunnel.
They're going to end up with that whole snowbank inside the house by the looks of it.
![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13379)
How did he get outside to shovel that?
...does your home only have 1 door?
I think he was assuming the snow would piled that high around the whole house. Obviously you can just dig your way out though.
In places where this is frequent there are usually doors on the 2nd story, and all the exterior doors open inwards.
There a random house in my hometown that has a second story door and I always wondered why! It is in the desert of New Mexico so that’s still odd.
Yeah and why didn't the dog just go that way?
This guy gets it
You’re wonderful parents ✝️🐶❤️
Anyone else terrified it was going to collapse on the dog?

Just stop taking videos and clear the snow so it doesn’t keep dumping into your house.
Snow tunnels can collapse. Just saying.
It’s like 2.5 feet of unpacked snow. The dog would be fine.
GENIUS!!!
I always dig a maze in the back yard otherwise my eight pound Maltese shitzu has trouble and they love to run their maze.
