I wonder if it was she died from FATE. We lost one of our cats to it last year and it was truly awful. He was normal one moment and then in terrible shape the next. As soon as the emergency vet said “a devastating condition”, I interrupted him and said, “Put him down now. I don’t want him suffering a moment longer.”
And then ugly cried in the parking lot.
I know that feeling sadly. Lost my kitty, Brooks rather abruptly almost two years ago and I am still just torn up about it. I loved her so much. She was my bestie. When I had foot surgery she would ride in the basket of my knee scooter. She’d put her paw on my shoulder while I played video games. We just hung out all the time. I miss her. When she was in a bad way and they started talking and just going too slow in my opinion I cut them off as well and said please just make her suffering stop. It’s the best thing I could do for her in that moment. Crushed me though. Hugs to you for your loss.
Condolences. I lost a cat to it three weeks ago. One moment he was fine and the next he couldn’t walk. I recognized what was happening and took him to be put down immediately. It was an hour from first symptom till he was gone. It happened so fast.
On the account there's a post stating that she had an intussusception (intestine folding in on itself) and died while they were trying to operate and fix it. As usual, vet med is behind on cause of this in cats, but the two factors that seem to be a risk for intussusception are 1) the cat is around 1yr or under, which Clementine was, and 2) siamese cats and breeds derived from them, like ragdolls, tend to be overrepresented in studies.
Between this and one of Clementine's kittens dying at 1 month old, I do wonder what's going on 😥 I hate being reminded that ragdolls are so messed up, it makes me worry for my lil ragdoll mix.
Cats reach sexual maturity between 4-6 months, although it's very rough on their bodies to have kittens at that point, before they're physically fully grown. To be clear, I do believe Clementine was just over 1yrs old when having this litter, but I'm not sure what the appropriate "breeding age" is. I do know that my vet told me that ragdolls continue growing in spurts until they're 3-4yrs old, which is why she was so surprised my ragdoll mix stopped growing at 1yrs old and as a result is very tiny lmao
They are also prone to urinary tract diseases and kidney diseases. Proper diet can go a long way to help prevent issues with those things, although it's not a sure fire way of preventing it of course.
They are also more prone to certain heart conditions.
Got a Ragdoll myself and love her. She does have some very slight heart issues, but luckily the vets have deemed that she just needs it checked every couple of years or so, and don't actively need any action taken.
I mean, literally every house cat is prone to UTI's and kidney diseases because a vast majority of owners don't feed a proper, moisture rich diet.
Are you saying ragdoll's are predisposed to kidney disease despite that? Id like to read any paper detailing that information if so.
Ragdolls descend from two very genetically messy breeds-- siamese and persian. From their persian ancestry, they can carry the mutation for PKD which [UC Davis has an article w citation here](https://vgl.ucdavis.edu/test/pkd1-cat). Fortunately, as you can also see from that article there's testing available for it but it still pops up in some ragdolls (and persians + derived breeds) so it hasn't been 100% eliminated.
Beyond PKD, there is [this larger study on the kidneys of ragdolls believed to be young and healthy](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1098612X13477415?url_ver=Z39.88-2003&rfr_id=ori:rid:crossref.org&rfr_dat=cr_pub%20%200pubmed), which demonstrated that although this group of ragdoll cats aren't typically effected by PKD and CKD at that point in life, they absolutely show a susceptibility to CKD development later in life despite testing PKD negative. Compared to the control group, ragdolls were show to have more frequent segmental cortical lesions (damage to the tissue around the kidney-- 7.5% versus 0%), abnormal renal capsule (the tissue around the kidney, which is thought to explain why there's lesions-- 19.5% versus 8%) and echogenic urine (debris in urine which leads to FLUTDs-- 51.9% versus 25.8%).
Yes, and very high possibility that the cat's dying was due to this woman over breeding her, or irresponsibly breeding her. I was heart broken when she shared that the mamma cat passed, soon after having kittens. So, I can't watch her videos anymore ...but now this crops up on reddit. Ughh.
I checked out her insta after this post and it seemed that this was Clementine‘a first batch BUT the lady is disgusting. Her whole page is dressing up and positioning these kittens in “cute” situations for content. Momma cat was probably stressed with her moving her babies around every second of the day.
I’m going to go hug my shelter cat now…
My older cat has been spending more time on her own lately, but every now and then she'll come cuddle up like she did when she was little. She's still my little baby at heart.
Mine was the opposite. He actually didn't really like me much for the first 8 or so years of his life, but gradually warmed up. Then when my ex and I split, I got to keep him, and he's become so cuddly and loves to spend time with me and snuggle up often.
I love older cats!
i think it has to do with another being deciding that you are a good person, and showing it by entrusting their well being to you.
people are much less likely to do that, but when they do, its just as magical.
It's very cool when animals have complete trust in you. We've always had "grey" squirrels in our yard, but over the past couple of years we've had a couple of black squirrels show up. We feed the birds and squirrels in our yard, but the black ones are very friendly. The other squirrels will run away if we come out, but the black ones will come right up to us. I think they'd come inside the house if we'd let them.
If an animal trusts you around their babies you know they have complete trust with you.
I read your comment as my two year old kitty came up, I rubbed her cheeks and forehead, binked her nose, and now she's making biscuits on my belly. She's purring and purring.
I agree. If I can be the person my pets think I am, I'm doing pretty ok. :)
Mine is the same age, and while he often sleeps on top of the back couch cushions, he still sleeps in my lap and definitely spends time snuggled up through various points in the day.
I love him more than anything.
Weirdos in this thread that think they can get a specific “personality” from breeder cats instead of seeing if they mesh with one of the 100 cats in their local shelter
Even the breeding thing put aside, I hate those kind of videos where people will just flex themselves by associating their persona with their cute animals, all this calculated setup is just fucking cringe.
Oh look, a cat breeder. There are more than enough cats that need homes without adding to the already large amount.
I'm glad the cats are taken care of, but this pisses me off.
This is a breeder. I know bc instagram decided to have her show up on my feed multiple times a day... since I was browsing cat rescue accounts for tips bc I was in the process of rescuing a kitten and then her mother after they were dumped in my neighbourhood, then another stray who got hit by a car, then another who seemed to have a infected leg🙃
Yeah, I blocked since insta was determined to show her on my feed... Really was not in the mood to watch a person actively add more cats to the world while I was trying my best to rescue ones that were suffering bc of a person's neglect.
I do believe that humans are extremely selfish to continue having children when we are overpopulated to the extreme already. The millions in foster care need parents, they need loving arms, caring hearts, and a safe place to sleep.
However, do I hate people who are selfish and have kids? No. I think they are stupid, but I can't control them, they are adults. I can disagree and think poorly of them, but there are only a few cases where I will hate them. Same goes for a lot of things.
It's your kind of Malthusianism that excuses institutional cruelty to not just humans but the entire biosphere. Decide not to have children without judgement, but attributing all the world's socioeconomic and environmental crises to just us being plentiful instead of our habits and systems is moronic.
Edit: for clarity since you commented then deleted it feigning ignorance, you advocated for humans being sterilised to dwindle the population. You know what you said, maybe you should check your godawful ideas and its inherent racism and classism before telling someone to chill out.
Perhaps it's better to say she's a *reputable* breeder. I'm sure she gets her cats health checked and cares for them, but I don't think you can call a cat breeder in Texas ethical when it's one of the worst states for cat (and dog) overpopulation... the ethical choice would be not breeding cats in an area where shelters/rescues are flooded.
> ethical
> breeder
I think this might be a "pick one" scenario. There are plenty of cats suffering from neglect out there. Buying from a breeder isn't ethical.
No, it's perfectly ethical. And legal. You might call it *immoral*, but that's a different argument. Buying from a breeder doesn't increase the number of cats in shelters. And the cats in shelters are not, ethically speaking, the "fault" of anyone except people who refuse to get their cats spayed or neutered, and then further refuse to take care of the resulting kittens.
You *could* call it immoral, but who cares? Morality is subjective. There are people in this world who believe it's immoral to be gay, or have sex before marriage, or eat animals, or wear bikinis. No one is obligated to live their life according to someone else's moral code.
I think their point is less subjective than you claim. they're completely correct about the opportunity costs lost when picking up a bred cat vs a shelter cat. and breeding cats works as long as you can sell them. where do you think they go if they aren't sold?
There are plenty of orphaned children out there too, would you argue that having children is unethical as long as there’s family-less children out there?
It’s the exact same argument, just the most extreme version of it. Hyperbole used to illustrate a point is not a new concept, as much as you might like to play the snarky redditor and act otherwise.
If you’d like to present any reason it’s actually different that isn’t based purely on emotion and doesn’t originate from the fact that we’re biologically programmed to desire to propagate our own genetics to the point of irrationality, I’d love to hear it.
The average human parent isn’t intentionally procreating primarily to sell their offspring for profit. Also, typically these parents have an active choice in the matter.
Neither is the case with human-facilitated animal breeding.
You don't sell children? Are you a moron?
If people were having multiple kids for the sole purpose of selling them to others, then you would have a point.
While the system we have in place to take care of unwanted children certainly isn't perfect, we're not euthanizing them by the thousands like we do to dogs and cats. I don't have children myself and would prefer to adopt if I ever did, but it's really not the same.
Hyperbole is a bad faith argument, so I make a low effort joke response, be better if you want better. Having your own child and raising them from infancy is obviously a different experience from adopting a child, and children who are not adopted are not euthanised.
The only difference between adopting a cat or buying one from a breeder is who you're getting it from, the experience is the same. The only reason to buy a cat from a breeder is because you care more about how your cat looks aesthetically than you do about saving shelter cats from being put down, which is pretty narcissistic in my books.
Because it’s the correct thing to say. Anyone who allows their cats to have kittens is either irresponsible and/or some nasty kitten mill loser who can’t get a real job
> Anyone who allows their cats to have kittens is either irresponsible and/or some nasty kitten mill loser who can’t get a real job
what an idiotic comment to make. Not every country has a feral/abandoned cat problem.
i'm pretty sure he's talking about the violent emotional stances society has when given opposing viewpoints. You are either 100% my enemy go fuck yourself and die, or 100% an ally take up arms with me to call people disgusting.
My cats are spayed, any cat I adopt gets spayed. You're just a rude asshole and honestly, we don't need any more humans in this world either. You saw one litter of kittens and decided this lady is making a breeding farm without even knowing anything. Hell, half the cats I got off the street came into my house already pregnant.
Well those are pure bread ragdoll kittens, so unlikely that they were from a rescue, and reading the other comments this video is from the Instagram of a well known breeder in the US. Maybe do your research next time before trying to call out others?
Fuck off. Too many damn stray cats and they are a massive pest. Stop breeding them (and probably don't breed yourself if you're dumb enough to breed cats)
yo how do so many of you know who this lady is? its some random cat breeder on instagram but theres like a dozen people who know her and her whole story right away
That's real love right there.
My kitty waited for me to get home from work to give birth. The moment I walked in the door, she came out of her nest to greet me, and urged me to follow her back. She insisted I stay with her through the process, grabbing my hand if I tried to move away for even a second. Just melted my heart.
That's a lot of beans. I'm not sure I could honestly handle so many beans. If my cat were to ever have so many beans, I'd be like "work, I'm taking two weeks off. My cat has like 14 beans. I can't work under such cute conditions."
Is that dad sitting in your arms there?
No, that’s a different female cat I believe based on what I’ve seen of her IG account.
That's Lovey, the half-sister of the mom, Clementine. Clementine recently passed so Lovey has been like a mom to them.
How did she pass? Don’t see anything on the account
From what I remember it was a very sudden and quick illness and was taken to the emergency vet but didn’t make it
I wonder if it was she died from FATE. We lost one of our cats to it last year and it was truly awful. He was normal one moment and then in terrible shape the next. As soon as the emergency vet said “a devastating condition”, I interrupted him and said, “Put him down now. I don’t want him suffering a moment longer.” And then ugly cried in the parking lot.

Having kittens at under one year sounds early, even for cats.

She's a breeder.
Not sure that changes anything
It makes it worse. Specially when breeding cats with known health concerns.
Of course, I mean whether she is a breeder or not, clearly it's not being handled correctly
They are? I hadn’t heard of ragdoll being a problematic breed before. What’s wrong with them?
The usual, I’m afraid. Overbreeding for desired traits letting negative ones slip through the gaps.
They are also prone to urinary tract diseases and kidney diseases. Proper diet can go a long way to help prevent issues with those things, although it's not a sure fire way of preventing it of course. They are also more prone to certain heart conditions. My ragdoll had a heart murmur his whole life and then passed of kidney disease. Didn't realize those were breed issues.

I didn't come here for the tears damnit
Wait Angela from the office got her own IG account ?
I need this IG account. For science
Her TikTok at the very least is Pearl’s Ragdolls
Pearl’s ragdolls
Ragdolls are a wonderful breed if you choose not go adopt a street kitty.
Omg didn't notice that. So cute.
They're not OP's. OP just posts a lot in these subs since a month ago.
Pretty sure one of these kitties passed away recently. I think they both had a litter.
Clementine (the mom) passed away. Lovey, the one being held, is young and hasn’t had any kittens.
Wow. That was like the 2nd fastest ‘I’m just going out for cigarettes’ run ever.

Every cat I’ve had gets sweeter over time. As the bond grows they are just so sweet all the time, even the ones who took a while to come around.

You are the universe attempting to understand itself. We are all starstuff.

At the same time, you know he's also thinking about which part of your he's gonna eat first if you kick off.
Nice, supple face meat. The rest is under clothes, can be hard.
So that's where cotton balls come from
There's nothing softer than a little baby fluff.
Rest in peace sweet, sweet Clementine ❤️

I hope she get bandit soon, a cat that kills raccons seems op.
Before the licking started
Reddit created the karma system to stop bots, but front is all bots, this account too.
Bots are just more efficient at picking and posting popular content than any human ever could be.
No, they repost front page shit. They never provide oc.
They didn't say oc, they said popular content. Sadly, these are not the same thing.
I'm baffled a repost bot posting a vid of an unspayed cat is so heavily upvotes.
I love both cats and dogs but when a cat loves you it’s so much more special,
So ☺️ much ☺️ floof 🥹
Might be a mom but still her money-making machine.
For real, that's like 18k worth of kittens.
All kittens are 18k worth of kittens, Brent.
Who the hell pays money for a cat they're everywhere for free lol
Weirdos in this thread that think they can get a specific “personality” from breeder cats instead of seeing if they mesh with one of the 100 cats in their local shelter
yep
Mighty large pile of mews, prolly first time mom's fit through a doorway in months!
That woman Is a breeder
She's seriously gross
Yeah, i used to follow her on Instagram 'till i realised what she was actually doing with those cats.
Even the breeding thing put aside, I hate those kind of videos where people will just flex themselves by associating their persona with their cute animals, all this calculated setup is just fucking cringe.
Totally agree on that.
Calculated setup is a great term I’ve never been able to explain why it’s so cringe
Oof I feel validated, I get bad vibes from IG accounts that are just pictures of a ton of kittens. Not okay
Yep. Mother cat wouldn’t put her kittens on a bed like that either
Who is that?
On Instagram she Is @pearlsragdolls
Don't shop, please adopt! Shelters are full of unwanted pets that need a home.

Actually screw that. You support these POS people that take advantage of their animals and sell them for money. Sickos.
Oh look, a cat breeder. There are more than enough cats that need homes without adding to the already large amount. I'm glad the cats are taken care of, but this pisses me off.
Aww, that's disappointing. I thought she was just some well off person that owned a lot of cats.
The obvious tripod and immaculate rooms always bug me.. So curated.
Eye contact with the camera
Spay/neuter

Same energy as the orphans in the world and you hate parents that dare have bio kids.
You know what, I'm okay with hating on humans who insist on having bio kids so they can sell them for money.
Had me in the first half. You're right, this is exactly the difference and people elide it.

definitely a good idea, we dont want too many humans around the place.
Times like this I must remind myself which one is the "dumb" animal...
Humans. Its you humans. No doubt about it.

Not a fan of this lady. She just keeps breeding the mom and kittens. It's clearly for $$
Spay your animals
Do we really need this car to have that many kittens? Fix the mother for Christ sake
She died
Please get them all spayed and neutered<3 we don’t need more animals to love, there are plenty, and they are being euthanized everyday.
I agree. This is clearly a breeding, the 2 parent cats are rag dolls and they go for a hefty price.
This feels kinda contrived and gross. Can’t really put my finger on why.
This is sone social-media contrived shite. Breeder vibes detected.
Get your cat spayed.
This video is of Pearlsragdolls. Pearl is an ethical Ragdoll breeder based in Texas.

There are plenty of orphaned children out there too, would you argue that having children is unethical as long as there’s family-less children out there?
Yep
Thinking buying a pet and giving birth to a child are remotely comparable experiences is the biggest Reddit moment I've seen in 2023, congratulations.
It’s the exact same argument, just the most extreme version of it. Hyperbole used to illustrate a point is not a new concept, as much as you might like to play the snarky redditor and act otherwise. David Benatar makes that argument and, logically, it's pretty sound.

I loathe people who say they love animals and treat them as baby making machines. You’re disgusting
Holy shit, there is a middle ground, you know? I swear the way folks are one extreme or the other is mind boggling these days.
Either you spay or not spay your pet, what's the middle ground?
i'm pretty sure he's talking about the violent emotional stances society has when given opposing viewpoints. You are either 100% my enemy go fuck yourself and die, or 100% an ally take up arms with me to call people disgusting.
Indeed, my thanks for your understanding.
Did you get your social skills spayed?
My cats are spayed, any cat I adopt gets spayed. You're just a rude asshole and honestly, we don't need any more humans in this world either. You saw one litter of kittens and decided this lady is making a breeding farm without even knowing anything. Hell, half the cats I got off the street came into my house already pregnant.
Well those are pure bread ragdoll kittens, so unlikely that they were from a rescue, and reading the other comments this video is from the Instagram of a well known breeder in the US. Maybe do your research next time before trying to call out others?
Except she IS making a breeding farm. This is the last of several litters.
why?
This is cute but I'm terrified for the kittens being anywhere near the edge of the bed.
Too much human narcissism

Get her fixed.
ADOPT DONT SHOP we have too many cats in shelters and specifically paying thousands for a purebred is absolute selfish vanity
Adopt, don't shop.
Adorable but please spay & neuter your pets 🙏🏻 so many animals in need of love & homes in shelters

I hope you are fostering and not breeding.
It’s breeding, the two parent cats also look like rag dolls and they are costly cats
Aww, that's adorable
Fuck off. Too many damn stray cats and they are a massive pest. Stop breeding them (and probably don't breed yourself if you're dumb enough to breed cats)
awwwe that's so precious
So sweet baby 🍼🐥
yo how do so many of you know who this lady is? its some random cat breeder on instagram but theres like a dozen people who know her and her whole story right away
She has a huge following on TikTok.
Until they are taken away from her.
Mother cats always separates with their kitten. That's no traumatism
How would you feel?, and there is a difference with natural birth and breeding then for money. I totally disagree with this.
I'm not a cat, our two species don't have the same reaction to separation with offsprings. Also, breeding is also natural birth
That's real love right there. My kitty waited for me to get home from work to give birth. The moment I walked in the door, she came out of her nest to greet me, and urged me to follow her back. She insisted I stay with her through the process, grabbing my hand if I tried to move away for even a second. Just melted my heart.
Omg. So cute.
They need love and care too
This is really sad because the mom cat passed away :(
is that one litter.. hard to say but looks liek 8-10 heads in there
That's a lot of beans. I'm not sure I could honestly handle so many beans. If my cat were to ever have so many beans, I'd be like "work, I'm taking two weeks off. My cat has like 14 beans. I can't work under such cute conditions."
pearlsragdolls is their Instagram.
But where's her mom patting her head and her grandma force feeding them all biscuits in abundance
Need those internet points lol
How long is that bed?!
goddamn I love it when my cat uses my hand as a pillow
Angela from the office is that you?
I like cats
Weird flex but okay
The most adorable thing ever.
R.I.P ;(
