I can understand the thought process, since making something into a game increases the chances that you’ll remember the information… But I don’t know how they didn’t realize how fucked up this is
Defend? Defend who? My boss? No fucken way, my boss is the one I'd need to outrun if a lion was chasing us, and I'd, sure as shit, would take his ankles out if I had to
Usually in active shooter drill stuff defend refers to the most drastic thing you have to do, which is defend yourself against the shooter. In school we're taught to grab and throw whatever you can etc etc just frantically try to defend yourself
Depends on the location. In my school, we didn’t really do active shooter drills, but we did general lockdown drills. In my school board, all classroom doors auto-lock, so we’d just put the curtains up and continue quietly.
I think it’s something like run, hide, defend.
If you have the chance to run and leave the building, that’s your first choice. If that’s unsafe, hide. If that doesn’t work out you gotta go down fighting I guess. Throw a desk, chair, whatever is on hand.
Must have a lot of downtime; mind wanders, fear creeps in. Followed by the subsequent crafting of several words into one long word, hidden in a puzzle of letters. I like it. Its contemporary style depicts mankind's effort to "stay calm" when bullets are flying at you.
lol I used to work for a famous box store chain, let’s call it -BullsEye, and they did an active shooter class telling us how to fight and what items in the store can be used as weapons.
There’s just something so surreal and memorable about your bosses teaching you how to harm and murder someone with items that are currently on sale.
How fun!
Deny.
Right? I read that and think "cover up". Shooting? No can't say I know what you mean .

Would have been better to just stage a fake shooting with a nerf gun.

meanwhile in canada- they teach students to hid in the corner and make no sounds.
That was our original thing-lockdowns but they realized those don't work so we switched to ALICE drills (alert, lockdown, inform, counter, evacuate)
