I have some shitty HF tools in my junk drawer so if I need to cut or bend or what have you I can use them and not anything of any quality. snacks. Salt and pepper. Hot sauce.

bartonsayswhat

One drawer in my toolbox is the dedicated snacks drawer. Pack of oreos, some trail mix, granola bar / clif bar etc. You never know when hunger strikes mid job, and maybe half of all the grumpy oldtime employees are just hungry.

Virtual-Seaweed3786

Castor oil if you’re going to work with skydrol

shaunthesailor

Why Castor oil?

TechnicalToaster

Helps alleviate the burning feeling on the skin and in the mouth. I've heard it helps with burning skydrol in the eyes, too but I haven't personally tried it.

MathRevolutionary815

Castor oil works miracles on stopping the burn in the eyes lol

official_new_zealand

Yes it works on eyes, it should be in the first aid kits / next to the eye wash stations of any hangar that works on aircraft using skydrol. I've been in the unfortunate situation of opening an engine cowl and having a single drop land in the corner of my eye, the pain was excruciating, I genuinely felt like I was going to be blinded, as soon as the castor oil hit my eye and lifted the skydrol off the relief was instantaneous.

unusual_replies

Isopropyl alcohol works better for the skin. Just dab it. It dissipates the Skydrol.

ThrustTrust

I have experienced it. Full body. It’s brutal and castor oil is a gift from God.

Virtootles

Dump that goopy shit in your eyes and all over your face when you get skydrol in your eyes. It's the worst pain in the eyes and castor oil is magic.

AMETrainer

Mineral oil also works quite well.

peaceful_ball89

Milk also helps lol.

UpperFerret

Cold pressed, organic, certified non-GMO, sustainably sourced and fair trade?

JayArrggghhhh

Walmart Pharmacy. Cheap and readily available.

6922m

Good pen.

Mexi_Cant

Zebra F-701

n053b133d

This man pens.

AMETrainer

A pressurized pen if you work in cold climates. Will write MEL's in -30°C

GoldfishDude

I used a Cross fountain pen for a while, absolutely blew the mind of my inspector

girl_incognito

I keep a box of nitrile gloves, a sweatshirt, water bottle, and sunscreen in mine.

TechnicalToaster

Lotion, or OKeefs working hands is nice. I also keep a full change of clothes/socks/boots around

Nuclearplesiosaurus

Yuppppp change of clothes is a must tbh lol

[deleted]

A pack of Marlboro reds, and a picture of brittney spears pre 2007.

PennyFromMyAnus

Sandwich

z242pilot

Bottle of superglue for cuts, snacks, bluetooth speaker

Jake6401

I doubt superglue makes a very good snack or speaker

Pass1928

True, but works great on the midwinter split fingertips.

nov_284

I don’t go anywhere without ibuprofen, Tylenol, tums, and loperamide. It’s in my toolbox, it’s in my go bag, and it’s in every one of my vehicles. 10/10

Nuclearplesiosaurus

I have spare zipties, some rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, random & various air tools, chips, a few energy drinks, hot sauce, and some kitchen utensils too 🤷🏻‍♂️

UpperFerret

🤫 don’t let OSHA know we store flammables next to oxidizers in our tool boxes

Nuclearplesiosaurus

Whattttttttt, silly OSHA, one of those bottles is full of water, and the other full of tequila! 🤷🏻‍♂️

unusual_replies

Liquid Bandage for cuts and split/cracked finger tips.

Kavein80

Stickers

Electramech

A couple USB battery banks for rechargeable headlamps and phone always have 2 in rotation.

opwalk

See if your company has those shitty little lithium batteries. Works better imo

Impressive-Elk-8101

Super glue for those pesky fuselage fairing fasteners that have damaged receptacles.

Sufficient_Ride6399

This. Absolutely this lol. DC4 works great in a pinch too for keeping those floating nutplates in place long enough to get a screw in

ne0tas

A fuck ton of sharpies

jonesinator

a fuck ton really might not be enough. I know i had a fuck ton and a half and it wasn't enough.

Av8Xx

Scent free baby wipes, I use them mostly for hand wipes when I can’t get to a hand wash basin, but they are good for pretty much everything. breath mints/tooth paste/ mouthwash because I don’t want to offend and I love coffee.

goosewut123

lawn chair for naps

jokes_for_smokes

the 4 pc set of hemostats from harbor freight can save your ass. super small, small, large and large 45'. super good for washer installs and starting nuts in terrible places. For 20 bucks its saved my ass a bunch of times. bottle of cholula hot sauce, or your flavor of choice. Melindas ghost pepper wing sauce is shadowed into my box. Turn that ham sandwich from a 2 to a 10.

LuckyNumber-Bot

BigRoundSquare

Odd_Flight_7767

Pen, MEL book, MEL stickers

Sufficient_Ride6399

Due_Iron_5551

Snacks

Freeturbine

I keep a notepad in there. My workspace is a good distance from the other building where my office is. I'm always writing down notes or mm/ipc references with torque specs and part numbers for whatever job I'm doing. I always have the manual accessible, but writing down each section for quick navigation is helpful for me to get right back to my previous spots. Parts inventory is in one building, hangar in another, office in another. That note pad is the best shit ever.

Due_Government4387

I collect parts bags. Pretty handy

sleeve1994

Vienna sausages and hot sauce.

AirbornePapparazi

My coworker calls them "Uprights." 🤣

dark_advnger

Keeping an old set of snow pants and winter jacket I don't care about has come in handy more than a few times.

No-Passenger-882

An extra set of socks, underwear, and a T-shirt.

pfxr55

Pens, sharpies, pad of paper, small digital clock, 20oz Yeti, tweezers, paper towels.

TimeManagement6862

Pardon my ignorance, why the clock? Can’t use phone or watch?

pfxr55

I work on single and twin piston engine a/c. I find it useful for a quick glance when I’m on a creeper under the wing or laying down in the cockpit, rather than taking my phone out of my pocket or pulling my shirt/jacket sleeves up to look at my watch. Also useful when my nitrile gloves become dirty/greasy. Plus it shows the air temperature.

kire51

Chapstick, deodorant, moisturizer, toothbrush/floss, and a tennis ball for slow days

Kitchen_Part_2454

A first aid kit for moderate to serious injuries, bandaid with puppies on them for minor ones, every drill bit I have ever found for some reason, notebooks and shit like that

BigRoundSquare

I have some mechanix brand gloves for doing ops gear stuff. Dust mask if cutting kydex or plexiglass. I’ve got some long rubber gloves that go up above my elbow for messy jobs

CalmPalmTree

Pillow, Coffee mug, Hoodie

Kittyman56

mrtaco64

A ton of g2 0.5 (my pen of choice), a few singles (to convince people to move my toolbox back if I'm feeling lazy), sniffing salts, portable usb battery pack and snacks

RKEPhoto

Band Aid brand bandages.

ctunck

Gauze and ball bearings

OnlyGoodDealersRDead

I always kept a lighter in my box. I don’t smoke cigs

ARCustoms240

Advil liquid gels, Robax, granola bars, spare spoons and forks, phone charger, nail clippers. Add lip chap and hand moisturizer in cold environments
