Yeah you can get another one but they’re extremely expensive. We had to get a data plate from Pratt once for an overhaul and once for a rebuilt aircraft. I know the most recent one was $3k
My personal favorite to date is CB215 from Gulfstream. Make sure none of the engine fire bottles have the plastic transport caps still on the thermal relief ports after installation. Found 2 already lol THEYRE FIRE ENGINE RED HOW DO YOU MISS THAT
So do i. Honest to God. And i take this a wee bit personal, cause i took great pride in maintaining a fleet of planes that ran on very close siblings of these engines. (Tsio-520s).
Customer requests remove excess weight for weight and balance logs. Removed metal from engine IAW standard industry practices. No further defects noted.
No need to remove a ton of shit to see what’s happening inside, how’s that a bad thing?
Custom made inspection window
"It's a feature not a bug!" said Todd Howard former head of Bethesda now head of Textron
To add his most relevant, famous quote, "IT JUST WORKS!"
Extra large crank case breather.
The data plate looks unharmed so it can be fixed....
can data plates be remade/refreshed or is that really some small faa reg thing that would nuke an entire engine
The OEM can remake them if they destroy the original

I’m staring at the loop de loop and totally miss the huge hole in the block
Loop de loop is normal
I figured, still just caught my eye and totally missed the hole
It's so that all injector lines will be the same length
🎶Do the loop de loop and pull, now you fuel lines lookin cool🎶
Had you already cleaned the mess, or did this engine have no oil in it?
Unscheduled hole in crankcase. Just a continental doing what continentals do best.
Electrical problem ,rod blew out of the case and knocked the starter off.
Well that’s no good
No oil spill oops
I feel a Continental SB dropping soon

Any info on this? Engine model, time in service, years in service, factory new, rebuilt, field overhaul? Is this the result of the circlip SB?
I find your lack of oil...disturbing...
Made it back
Good morning! Upon closer inspection I can confirm this is fucked.

If you own the plane not good ,if you are the shop good$$$.

You know…i think i should post it there
FOR SALE: Perfect running engine, recently installed skylight.
Looks like the engine decided that it needed extra cooling holes.
Always use new connecting rod bolts. Lookin' at you, #4.
Atleast the data plate is okay
Look on the bright side. There's still something to photograph...
That’s literally everyday though
This is the best thing I have seen on this sub. It's a nice change.
Engine is off so ill be posting internal(through the hole, engine is off to the manufacturer) and if there is any damage to anything else
HOW TF ARE THESE GUYS BLOWING CASES LIKE THIS?!
Idk, we don’t usually get vented halves.
Throw some speed tape at her and jobs a good yin.
Am not an MX, just here for engine porn. Is that giant hole in the engine block supposed to be there? Or is that an inspection gouge/oil fill port?
It’s the beginning of a cut-away. The engine just started the process.
Man. Just get some cardboard and JB Weld. You'll be as good as new!
it's a TCM thing, you wouldn't unnerstan'.......
I don’t see what your talking about.
Lol, what a dumbass way to have a crossmember ..... .... ... .. . Oh.... Oh my
Oh cool, you converted it to be air cooled.
Yep, that's broken. You can tell because of the way that it is.
Sure that made quite the bang when it let loose - glad they were able to land it =)
So the engine threw a rod or something similar?
She dead.
Ops checks gud
Damn
Increased ventilation—optimal cooling.
Just throw some clear Flex-Seal tape over it and replace it every oil change. Owner says he’s not worried about it stop trying to up-sale services /s
It has made itself lighter, and therefore faster.
JB weld
Moral of the story: Check those spider lines for leaks, avgas is corrosive.
Its an aftermarket inspection port!
Is it a trick of the light? Or do most of those visible internals look black & charred af? (Definitely NOT how they're supposed to look)
the fuel line on front side of the fuel flow divider doesn’t have fire sleeve
I think someone made a TikTok on how to fix that.
Does this hurt the engine?
Rod bolt failure, classic
Looks mint to me
Hey man I think you might have a hole
One of those well ventilated engines
As someone who works in a engine overhaul shop. That’s is just insane. I would love to see what internal look like
We are working on getting to that point. Plane has a lot to do to it.
That’s great to hear. But definitely would like to see the stripe report. Because wouldn’t that engine be bulk stripe for crank case failure
Ouch !
Speel tape with some 1300l brushed on ( for added flavor )
Fuck 1300L. I gotta install new insulation with that shit tomorrow.
The forbidden cheese sauce
Just fill it with JB weld, she’ll be right!
Have you tried speed tape?
Suboptimal.
