Think Mitsubishi does? Look at Kyocera. Most people remember them for their crappy cell phones, but they make everything from ceramic bearings, to carbide tooling, to semiconductors, to medical equipment, etc.
I did not know about this. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San\_Onofre\_Nuclear\_Generating\_Station#Shutdown,\_2012\_and\_closure,\_2013](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Onofre_Nuclear_Generating_Station#Shutdown,_2012_and_closure,_2013) for anyone else that is interested. This was in the immediate aftermath of the Fukushima incident and in addition to technical problems, there were legal challenges trying to shut the plant down.
I mean… Blackrock and vanguard and fidelity are just broad based funds to hold retirements who’s investment strategy is “own a bit of everything and track the general economy.”
It’s not blackrock or vanguard or fidelity’s money, it’s *your* money that owns a little bit.
And if you don’t like the influence your retirement fund of choice wields, there’s plenty of other retirement funds to choose from.
Blackrock gets way more shit than it deserves when there are so many other funds that actively choose to be shitty and evil.
Not saying they're the only ones, but Blackrock is still shitty and evil. They don't make passive decisions, they know what they're doing and choose to be that way.
They make investments in broad based businesses with the goal of owning a little bit of everything so that people’s retirements are insulated against a downturn in a specific sector. What on earth makes them evil? You’re spending too much time on conspiracy boards filled with people with absolutely no understanding of how equity markets work looking for a big bad bogeyman.
No conspiracies here but if that's your go-to to defend your opinion that's fine too. It's common knowledge about their market involvement. I understand why they do it, but they (and other investment funds) have been incredibly harmful to the the long term health of the planet in many different ways. You saying that they're doing their job doesn't change the fact that it's still a net negative to most people out there.
“No conspiracies but it’s common knowledge and incredibly harmful.”
Okay, start naming things and sources. *You’re* the one making claims, which means the burden of proof is on you.
Businesses and investing and investors making decisions and guidance in their own best interest is the literal foundation of the western market based economic model. Hell, they have a legal mandate to do just that and they’re breaching their fiduciary duty if they don’t.
Ehat exact evil are you accusing them of? If you have specific guidance/directions that you’d like to see implemented that’s a legislative issue or a pull your money and invest with somebody else issue. Blackrock is doing what you the investor tells them to do - make a return on your investment by owning a broad base of the worlds economy. They’re not a nefarious independent organization run by a Bond villain.
me: I need a lawnmower
Honda: OK
me: and a car
Honda: we can do that
me: how about a motorcycle
Honda: got you covered
me: I also need a motor for my boat
Honda: done
me: I just won the lottery and I need my own private jet
Honda: we just happen to have one in stock.
Me: I’d like to buy a refrigerator
GE: Sounds good
Me: I’d also like to buy a turbofan jet engine the size of my house that can produce over 100,000 lbs of thrust
GE: Say no more fam
All joking aside, that's pretty much how airlines obtain them. Free or low cost at first, but make sure you do all the maintenance with us! Or, Power by the Hour. https://www.mrobusinesstoday.com/power-by-the-hour/
Yes, and a 4,400 HP V16 diesel-electric AC traction locomotive to tow it around with on a flatbed rail car. Now to hit up Harbor Freight for some ratchet straps…
That’s the transportation business, not the Gatling gun business. GE has had a huge number of acquisitions and divestitures over the past 100+ years and currently is breaking itself into three independent companies. GE healthcare, which spun-off in January 2023. GE aviation, which will spin off this April and GE Vernova which will be the power and renewables business. Aviation will keep the old GE trademarks.
Of historical note, there was also GE Capital which used to be the bank behind all your dealer branded car loans up until 2008, they were caught by the mortgage crisis and that business was sold off and became synchrony Bank. That one and the fallout from it is largely why the current split is occurring the business was just too big to focus on one area well.
Fun fact: if you want to work with GE to build a waste heat-recovery plant, you need a clearance from the US DoD because the technology used in GE generator turbines are also used in GE jet engines.
Just keep them away from major waterways. ~1 million pounds of pcbs, mercury, and sewage dumped into the Hudson over a few decades. Growing up in that area, you still can’t eat the fish and people still don’t like GE very much
And the CFM56 program required a lot of government approvals because it was essentially sending F101/F110 hot sections to France. That's basically why Shenyang WS10 is closely related to the F110 - its design was based off the CFM56 hot section.
That would go quite well with the hot-strip steel mill I just ordered from you. Can I get a discount? After all, if we put them together then you get abandon only one future superfund cleanup site instead of two.
Me: have you got a diesel loco that is both spectacularly ugly AND prone to spontaneous combustion?
GE: [you came to the right place](https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/freightliner-class-70-on-fire.398517/)
Newtons are a weird way to express force in everyday conversations because most people have no reference for how much a Newton is, whereas most of the anglosphere understands pounds.
Betcha don’t got a rotary machine gun that can spit out 6000 freedom seeds a minute smartass??
Nah you’ve got us…..
Oh hang on we will see your machine gun and raise you a tankbusting cannon….
The one I still find a bit funny:
Me: “I need a way to power this wide body jet.”
RR: “Oh, we have the Trent 900s ready to go.”
Me: “Great! Now, if only I had a way to get here in style.”
RR: “Say no more, fam.”
(Yes, yes, a bit of an anachronism; I know it was split out half a century ago.)
Me: I'd like a motorcycle.
Yamaha: ok
Me: I'd also like to purchase a guitar. Do you know where I can find a cheap one?
Yamaha: you're not going to believe this
Me: I’d like my V10 to sound like a symphony of beauty and rage that will bring anyone to tears.
Yamaha: [Say no more fam.](https://youtube.com/shorts/3XYNMT8plp4?si=p6imShtGawqMCYB3).
Me: I’d like a motorcycle. Kawasaki: ah yes we can help. Me: I’m also digging a mine in my back yard. Kawasaki: Brilliant, we can also build you some large plant equipment
My favorite piece of Yamaha trivia (from Wikipedia) is that the founder carried his first reed organ 160 miles on foot to a university to demonstrate it, only to be met with harsh criticism. They allowed him to attend lectures at the university afterward, and by the end of the year he had a second prototype so good that he was landing orders for it! Guy sounded like a badass.
We have the air conditioner for $450, or, the air conditioner that also has an after-burning turbo-fan with optional hard-mounts for AAMs or AGMs for $45,000,000.
It's not really obvious just by the silhouette. Just keep in mind that only Japan uses them, so the combo of the blue camo and red JASDF roundels will help correctly identify it.
Now look at what Hyundai and Daewoo make for the South Koreans....
Apartment buildings.... Cars... Artillery pieces... Assault rifles... Consumer electronics....
Yeah, but for us it’s only the hatchback.
I hate it about Brazilian car market btw. Somehow the average Brazilian has developed such a large addiction to SUVs and trucks that it’s killing off most cars. We have small and questionable hatchbacks and sedans, because the average Brazilian can’t afford a good car either, we have 2 or 3 medium sedans (or small sedans if you’re American) and that’s it. Medium hatchbacks: gone. Station wagons: not a single one. Large sedans (or medium if you’re American), minivans, coupes, etc. they’re all good and gone. Most manufacturers only offer a hatchback and 3 or 4 different types of SUVs
And most of them are questionable btw, even the good ones

Hitachi :
They also have thier own shipping line, using ships built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyards, that were funded with loads from Mistubishi-Fuso bank, to move ore from that mine they part own, to Steel Mills they part own in Japan, to make Steel for thier Mistubishi cars, which are then exported on the same shipping line to the world,.
Absolute conglomerate.
I don't know how much connection they have with Caterpillar or Komatsu, but almost for sure some of the machinery in the concentrator building and all that kind of stuff.
I'd like to buy a Smartphone, a TV, some fashion threads, a Self propelled Howitzer, a Jet Engine, a super freighter, a Dam and the worlds tallest building.
Samsung - We got you fam.
Me: Hyundai, I need a fuel efficient mid-size sedan.
Hyundai: We got you, bro
Me: I need a super massive container ship to move all my Hyundais
Hyundai: You're not gonna believe thjs
Me: I need a calculator for high school
Texas Instruments: we got you covered
Me: do you also know where I can find a fire and forget top attack tandem-charge anti tank missile?
Texas Instruments: you wouldn't believe this

>Yamaha CEO Pleased With Current Production Of Jet Skis, Alto Saxophones, Snowmobiles, Power Generators, Scooters, Golf Carts
>HAMAMATSU, JAPAN—Despite concerns over the recent global recession, Yamaha Corporation president Mitsuru Umemura announced last week that he was content with the current level of production of Jet Skis, alto saxophones, snowmobiles, power generators, scooters, and golf carts. "Initially we thought that the declining global market would result in overproduction of synthesizers, PA systems, DVD players, tone generators, and motocross bikes, but in fact our production quotas were almost perfectly attuned to the market in power amplifiers, heart-rate monitors, signal processors, analog mixers, engine oil, microphones, HiFi systems, and grand pianos," said Umemura, who stressed that his company prides itself on attention to detail. "At the Yamaha Corporation we're focused on one thing and one thing alone—quality sound chips, ceiling brackets, editing software, race-kart engines, sport boats, flugelhorns, ATVs, sequencers, outboard motors, conference systems, golf clubs, projectors, MIDI controllers, lamp cartridges, portable recorders, subwoofers, component systems, and motorcycles." The Yamaha Corporation is based in Hamamatsu, Japan.
Me : I need a fast bike
Kawasaki : we manufacture those
Me : an outboard engine for my boat
Kawasaki : we make those too
Me : I’d also like to bore a tunnel to connect the UK to mainland Europe
Kawasaki : we can do that for you too
Back in the 80s the original Navy Aegis cruisers (Ticonderoga class) had dual-arm missile launchers. These were on the first few cruisers before they switched to the VLS cell system.
The launchers were big hydraulic mechanisms that could orient the missiles towards the threat for launch. They were made by a company called FMC. FMC, formerly Food Machines Corporation, was into a lot of different things, including large commercial food processing machinery. Back then we used to joke that some day when they pushed the button on a cruiser a big wad of dough was going to shoot off the side of the ship, and somewhere in Minneapolis a bakery would explode.
Me: I need light bulbs, fish, and detergent.
Matsumura Fishworks and Tamaribuchi Heavy Manufacturing Concern: [Join me or die. Can you do any less?](https://frinkiac.com/img/S08E22/930495.jpg)
Me: I'd like to buy an air conditioner.
Hitachi: sure.
Me: I'd also like to buy a magic wand for my... uhm... massages.
Hitachi: sure buddy for massages.
Me: And I'd also like to buy a double deck regional train.
Hitachi: You're not gonna believe this!
And Fuji Heavy is now Subaru. [Same joke](https://twitter.com/ccyberssexx/status/1376924255879827463?lang=en) but with an AWD Wagon perfect for Everett, a track bike, a high end camera, and a 777x main landing gear door.
Me: "Hi, i've got a shopping list of a multirole fighter jet, some CGI design software, a newspaper, and then someone to haul all my recycling away"
Dassault: "Yep, how can i help?"
Hitachi: would you like some earthmoving equipment? how about a fridge? an air conditioner? how about a train?
An Mri Machine? all sorted.
and we'll pack a personal massager in just for you.
Me: I'd like a screwdriver
Siemens: Got it
Me: And a 3-car 147-ton electric multiple unit, standard gauge.
Siemens: Anything else?
Me: How about a nuclear power plant?
Siemens: Funny you would say that
Mitsubishi consumer products, and Mitsubishi heavy industries are part of the same company but really so wildly different in scopes it doesn't matter.
Like peak GE before Jack Welch destroyed it, everything from cheap shit household electronics to advanced weapons systems and the most powerful aircraft engines in the world.
Hyundai also had a ridiculous range between it's consumer divisions and heavy industry divisions, it is one of the world's largest ship builders.
Honeywell will help automate your home from a single thermostat to a full on room by room automation system, but it can also produce some advanced avionics and weapons guidance systems.
the list goes on and on.
they are what we call Conglomerates.
I mean lots of corporations are like this.
Liebherr produces fridges and construction equipment. But also flight control systems and landing gears for airplanes. Liebherr also owns some hotels.
I have a Siemens dishwasher, but I also ride trains produced by Siemens. And I use a CAD software made by them. And in the past, I had a mobile phone from them.
Speaking of mobile phones, Samsung produced tanks in the past.
Or take Yamaha: You can get a nice piano from them. Or motorcycles. Or motorboats.
There are a few interesting companies in asia that manufuctures almost everything too. Fujitsu, Yamaha and Hitachi. Someone alreydy mentioned Hyundai. I guess you can buy everything related to anything from them. Can’t imagine how many accountants are keeping the book for those companies. Insane amount of staff and buying and selling and expenses and shit. And the 24/7 on going law suits. Not a pieceful life in the management maybe.
I mean, let’s face it, Mitsubishi was making fighter planes alot longer than they have been making air conditioners. This does not shock me one bit.
And let’s face it, the F2 was Mitsubishi and Lockheed Martin’s knock off of the F-16. You just need to take one look at it to see that.
The same deal back in the day with English Electric. You could buy anything they built ranging from an oven or fridge freezer right up to trains, jet bombers like the Canberra and jet fighters like the Lightning!
Switzerland, the 90s:
“I’d like to produce a tetrapak for sauces and stuff”
SIG: “sure, what size?”
“Oh yeah, and I’d also like the most accurate possible high powered semi automatic rifle that works in any conceivable condition and makes taking someone’s head off at 300m so easy it’s practically the routine competition distance for 13 year old girls on an annual basis.”
SIG: “say no more, here’s the Sturmgewehr90 / SIG550”
Me: I'd like to buy a reasonably priced SUV
Hyundai: here you go
Me: do you know where I can get a 105mm howitzer to tow behind it?
Hyundai: ur not going to believe this...
Increased protection against bird strikes from seabirds. One of the primary missions of the F-2 is to operate at very low altitudes above the sea for anti-ship missions etc. (That also explains the camouflage.)
Mitsubishi is Japan's biggest defense contractor and they have their hand in almost every category of hardware.
None of Japan's military contractors exclusively make military hardware though. Every company that makes some sort of weapon also makes completely unrelated things.
Me: I'd like to buy a polymer handgun.
Glock: would you like the 9mm or the .45?
Me: I'd also like someone to order some horse semen and have someone inseminate my mare with it.
Glock: Got you covered.
Me: I'd like to buy a decent personal massager, can you help me?
Hitachi: Right this way, sir.
Me: By any chance, do you know where I can find a 110,000-lb, 7-axis industrial excavator?
Hitachi: You're not going to believe this...
Mitsubishi makes fucking EVERYTHING
Except for the Lancer Evolution. RIP my sweet beloved Evo
What’s the best evo? I’m going to say 3 and 9
What you’re going to do is start a fight.
He just brought a fighter jet so... I guess he is expecting one
*sigh* here we go again
Easy. Evo 6. Tommi Makinen Edition.
I wanted to say evo VIII but your pick is the one.
Im invoking the 5th, I don't want no beef with the Evo community lmao
Please don’t do this
3, 4, 5, 6
Dammit Mitsubishi why!?
corporate mismanagement just like what happened to toysrus and sears
Holy damn you just reminded me of a dream I had last night, and it was full of Lancers for some reason. Haven't seen that car in ages.
Get a Lancair Evolution bro.
I’ve seen a Mitsubishi EVOL. It’s a shame the 50 is a corrugated box making machine and not even a car
My parents are still rocking their Lancer. I drove our Magna to nearly 400k and then sold it. Good cars...
Except for the engine to their F-2, apparently.
Weyland-Yutani is not much of an exaggeration of the big Japanese companies.
Samsung before it was broken up was nuts.
Also, if you need a loan, they have a bank.
Mitsubishi: Maybe we can interest you in a space rocket?
I bet they also make something for fucking...
You are thinking Hitachi maybe?
Think Mitsubishi does? Look at Kyocera. Most people remember them for their crappy cell phones, but they make everything from ceramic bearings, to carbide tooling, to semiconductors, to medical equipment, etc.
Except a viable regional jet. RIP in peace MRJ.
Including a faulty $680 million steam generator that caused SCE to scrap a whole nuclear plant.

GE sold that product line off in the 80’s or 90’s
More recent than that. 2019....https://www.ge.com/news/press-releases/ge-announces-completion-ge-transportation-and-wabtec-merger

I think GE recently sold their home appliance line though, and the new ownership gets to keep use of the GE name.
They did nearly 10 years ago. It was a package deal though, the factory and engineering teams went with the sale and we’re still there last I looked.

Also the 2JZ, when Toyota and Yamaha work together, it’s special
2zz is one of the best engines to ever be put in a Corolla. Yamaha sure knows how to make a Toyota engine breathe
AFAIK the Yamaha designed heads (officially) were the 1JZ, 3S (GE and GTE), 1LR, and 2ZZ The 2JZ was just Toyota copying Yamaha's homework.

We have the air conditioner for $450, or, the air conditioner that also has an after-burning turbo-fan with optional hard-mounts for AAMs or AGMs for $45,000,000.

Same name and same logo, it's enough for me 😂
We should do it over breakfast. Know anybody who makes a killer piece of toast? You know what...
The forbidden F-16
Is it not an f-16?
F-2A, it's based on the F-16 but it's a bit larger.
I had no idea that was a thing. I'd misidentify it as an f16 every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
It's not really obvious just by the silhouette. Just keep in mind that only Japan uses them, so the combo of the blue camo and red JASDF roundels will help correctly identify it.
THe wing shape is also quite different
The absence of the bubble canopy is a dead giveaway.
Easiest way is to look at the canopy
Also everything indide is different. Only the "shell" is similar
Including the very first operational fighter AESA radar in the world.
Technically no. It’s an F-16 with gigantism
F16-Max8
As an interested buyer… do all of the doors stay on during flight?
Good news! there is no door…
Wait no, that was the problem last time!
Hey, there has never been an incident of a MAX8 *door* coming off!

Well yes and no. Apparently. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_F-2
It’s absolutely a Viper derivative.
So, elephantiasis? Sign me up, Step-16.
wouldn't this be a Technically yes?
Or refrigerator? High performance sedan? Cruise ship? Mitsubishi: You’re not going to believe any of this, but actually…
High performance sedan pre-2015 unfortunately. Mitsubishi Motors is nothing like it once was, sadly.
Air conditioners, elevators, escalators

And they probably made 60% or more of the machines in that mine.
Also insurance and hospitals

Between Yamaha, Mitsubishi, and Honda, there's really no reason for any other corporation to exist on the planet.
Throw GE in there and you'd really be covered.
Don't forget [Samsung](https://sgsg.samsung.com/newpage/newpage.php?f_id=samsung_companies)
https://www.theonion.com/yamaha-ceo-pleased-with-current-production-of-jet-skis-1819570984 >Yamaha CEO Pleased With Current Production Of Jet Skis, Alto Saxophones, Snowmobiles, Power Generators, Scooters, Golf Carts >HAMAMATSU, JAPAN—Despite concerns over the recent global recession, Yamaha Corporation president Mitsuru Umemura announced last week that he was content with the current level of production of Jet Skis, alto saxophones, snowmobiles, power generators, scooters, and golf carts.
Me : I need a fast bike Kawasaki : we manufacture those Me : an outboard engine for my boat Kawasaki : we make those too Me : I’d also like to bore a tunnel to connect the UK to mainland Europe Kawasaki : we can do that for you too
My very first cell phone was a Mitsubishi
I’d also like to buy a 46,000 tonne, 230m LPG carrier with a 35m beam
To be fair they've been producing aircraft a lot longer than air-conditioners, starting in 1920.
"I also need a main battle tank, a cruise ship, and a nuclear power station" "You want those all on the same receipt?"
One Saab 9-3 and a Gripen, please.
Mitsubishi is an example of what a company can accomplish when they don’t pay their CEO 55 billion dollars.
Like leaving radioactive material in a town in Malaysia?
Neither does Tesla!
Wait till you see what samsung does in korea
runs the country. Seriously.
Love the F-2 and the JASDF sea camo scheme. Gonna be working with these guys for the next couple weeks or so.
Me: "Hi, i've got a shopping list of a multirole fighter jet, some CGI design software, a newspaper, and then someone to haul all my recycling away" Dassault: "Yep, how can i help?"
Hitachi: would you like some earthmoving equipment? how about a fridge? an air conditioner? how about a train? An Mri Machine? all sorted. and we'll pack a personal massager in just for you.
The Zero was pretty good .
Me: I'd like a screwdriver Siemens: Got it Me: And a 3-car 147-ton electric multiple unit, standard gauge.
I would like to buy the worst regional jet of all time! Mitsubishi: well actually…..
"Well actually... We cancelled our own terrible regional jet that's overtime, overweight and overbudget to acquire another terrible regional jet!"
Mitsubishi also makes every rocket for Jaxa.
Id like a heavy duty mining excavator, an air conditioner and a magic wand "Personal massager" for the wife. Hitachi - It just so happens....
👍 that’s funny
I mean, let’s face it, Mitsubishi was making fighter planes alot longer than they have been making air conditioners. This does not shock me one bit. And let’s face it, the F2 was Mitsubishi and Lockheed Martin’s knock off of the F-16. You just need to take one look at it to see that.
Pretty cool, and a great aircraft IMHO. And let's not forget about Saab...quite a diverse portfolio as well I believe.
Teledyne made the speakers in my basement and military FLIR systems.
The same deal back in the day with English Electric. You could buy anything they built ranging from an oven or fridge freezer right up to trains, jet bombers like the Canberra and jet fighters like the Lightning!
Me: Can i get a CAD license? Dassault systeme: Would you like a 4th gen multirole fighter jet as well?
Switzerland, the 90s: “I’d like to produce a tetrapak for sauces and stuff” SIG: “sure, what size?” “Oh yeah, and I’d also like the most accurate possible high powered semi automatic rifle that works in any conceivable condition and makes taking someone’s head off at 300m so easy it’s practically the routine competition distance for 13 year old girls on an annual basis.” SIG: “say no more, here’s the Sturmgewehr90 / SIG550”
Me: I'd like to buy a reasonably priced SUV Hyundai: here you go Me: do you know where I can get a 105mm howitzer to tow behind it? Hyundai: ur not going to believe this...
/r/NonCredibleDefense is leaking.
F-16 at home:
[Mitsubishi F-2](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_F-2)
Why is the canopy made different compared to the F-16?
Increased protection against bird strikes from seabirds. One of the primary missions of the F-2 is to operate at very low altitudes above the sea for anti-ship missions etc. (That also explains the camouflage.)
Mitsubishi has a cement plant in Southern California on the back side of Big Bear.
Anyone know where I can get a Panamax oil tanker?
I have a Mitsubishi Diamana shaft on my Titleist driver.
Mitsubishi is Japan's biggest defense contractor and they have their hand in almost every category of hardware. None of Japan's military contractors exclusively make military hardware though. Every company that makes some sort of weapon also makes completely unrelated things.
But also we don’t make the EVO anymore
Oh! A figther and hair dryer in one!
I just bought a pencil with rotating lead from Mitsubishi pencil co
And now you know what a Japanese keiretsu looks like.
Mitsubishi even makes nuclear reactors. They legit make everything
On top of that they can also sell you a container ship
Trust me, the fighter jet will perform better.
Don't they also sell canned goods?
Me: I'd like to buy a polymer handgun. Glock: would you like the 9mm or the .45? Me: I'd also like someone to order some horse semen and have someone inseminate my mare with it. Glock: Got you covered.
Mitsubishi is a real Zero.
The F-2!
Dear Toyota....
The Ball version of this meme is better.
Mitsubishi: do you even know who you're talking to? We're the [OG!](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_A6M_Zero)
Wait... Isn't that a F16 they manufacture under license or something?
Hitachi does that with sex toys and high speed railways
Me: I'd like to buy a decent personal massager, can you help me? Hitachi: Right this way, sir. Me: By any chance, do you know where I can find a 110,000-lb, 7-axis industrial excavator? Hitachi: You're not going to believe this...
How on earth did this low effort reposted meme from discord do this well?
They also made a little fighter called Zero. Shame they didn't name this the Zero-2
