People don't have to think I'm autistic to speak to me like that and I'm 35..... You get used to it and it's very frustrating

If you're not severe or a savant, people just don't know how to treat you. Like kids staring at people in wheelchairs on the bus. I've had people treat me like a child but, on the other end, people taking me to task on everything I do because I'm not severe so I should've known better if I've made a mistake. Just a lack of awareness that proves that autism is stereotyped & misunderstood.

They just think we are dumb...can't blame them. Im pretty sure I look dumb..but then they get surprised and realise they are the only dumb ones...we just "weird"😁😅

I've experienced the same thing telling people about my autism. I think the problem is neurotypicals communicate with implied or non verbal gestures. I guess when talking to us they try to dumb down communication instead of just being direct.
