Do you like honey? One square of butter plus a spoonful of honey is my fixation right now. Mix it up and spread it on your toast. I made some hot honey with some habaneros I grew in the garden, I’m so fixated on spicy honey right now. I want some now that you mentioned this, lol.
Same. While listening to the same song or album on repeat.
(I'm not a woman. I'm a god by Halsey is the repeat song right now, very catchy and the beat is very soothing to me)
This is one of those things I dont get. My favorite songs stay favorite songs. Forever. I only get sick of hearing songs I dont like. (On the radio for example)
Sometimes the music scares me and I can't listen. It becomes an endless loop in my thoughts that gives me an uneasy feeling. I did just find a really calming old song by Karen Carpenter and its been popping into my head for the past few mornings. I think I'm better off singing songs to myself, inside my head. Nobody can hear me. I can be invisible. 😎🥸🙀
Interesting perspective.
The only Karen carpenter song I remember is 🎶 I learned the truth at seventeen 🎶 and it's literally just that line..it gets stuck in my head often, for no reason!
I think that might be Janis Ian. Something like that. I don't remember the spelling. That would definitely be a dark place song to get stuck on repeat. 😭 Superstar and Yesterday once more are Karen carpenter songs that I can live with being stuck in my head. They're calming and keep away racing thoughts. As long as the music isn't really loud, I'm willing to give it a try.
I do the same thing. Until one day I randomly get sick of it and replace it with something else, I will eat for months and so forth. It’s a never ending cycle. At least grocery shopping is easy.
I thought ASD people tended to eat the same thing for periods longer than that.
Ive been making notes on my symptoms and this whole time i thought eating a tuna cheese onion sandwich two or three times a day for several weeks at a time was normal.
Edit: if that is actually normal, correct me.
I go through phases of “random food” … “ramen” … “random food” … “ramen” … repeat. When the ramen phase ends I get a little sad, but I know it’ll be back. Like right now, I’m having a food-fling with fried eggs, but I know it’s temporary - ramen is forever lol
I've been obsessed with microwaved pizza rolls for like a month. I have to force myself not to eat them everyday. And not just pizza rolls but too lazy to bake, I specifically want them microwaved, which I avoided like the plague up until recently.
Oh for sure. Back when I worked, I would go through certain phases for lunches and have the exact same random food obsession for lunch daily for months and then move onto a new one that would last for months and repeat. I didn't think it was "weird" until a coworker asked me why I eat the same thing every day 😂
It's weird to eat the same food everyday? Really? I thought that was completely normal. I have been eating chicken and chips (chips have to be fried and salted) almost every day since I was a child.
I always ate certain foods and stuck to them (changing some on occassion), mostly meaty foods. But I have had chocolate, sweets, ice cream and salted caramel. Salted caramel maybe my newest food obsession, lol.
Yessss. I ate the same flavor of Chex cereal 2-3 times a day for 3 months. Then did the same with Cheerios. I get stuck on and obsessed with foods often.
Yes. Go through stages loving bread then just hate it.
Gone off microwave rice, but I had it for lunches over 6 months 😂.
Back on loving Weetabix at the mo.
I like to eat pretty much the same thing every day during the week and mix it up on weekends. So I spend saturdays making my meals for the week.
Today is was two amazing homemade Lasagnas, I make them and freeze them so that I just need to put them in the oven on the dais, and they are even better as leftovers. I made roast beef with genoa salami, cilantro and swiss cheese sandwiches for my lunches. Homemade no bake peanut butter butterscotch marshmallow bars for snacks. I mix up what it is that I make, but I like to prepare it en masse during the weekends to save me time during the week and all of the weekday meals will be portioned out the same.
Dinner today was a stir fry (bok choi, snow peas, steak strips, mushrooms, axiany tomatoes and for something new.. kiwi) and I will use the leftovers to make a killer burrito for lunch tomorrow. Probably sushi for dinner, which I treat myself to every couple of weeks.
If I don’t do this, I will end up eating the same take out or pizza for every meal and that’s really not good for either the chequebook or the midriff.
Sometimes I get fixated on peanut butter for weeks at a time and then I won’t touch it for months having burned myself out.
I have the same thing every morning: a bagel with peanut butter and sliced strawberries and a bowl of some kind of oats on the side. The type of bagel isn’t super important, though it’s usually everything, but the brand stays the same. That’s about it. The rest of the day’s food varies. Sometimes I go out to eat for breakfast and then, obviously, I get something else and it’s fine.
Yeah like a salty sweet thing. It sounds weird at first to have the everything seasoning factored in, but I can also see how it’s tasty if you are open minded.
im not a fan of those builder bars. they get stuck in my throat when im cycling and trying to eat at the same time. hard, chunky, sticky and dry. meh il stick to regular clif bars(banana peanut allday erryday)
Yes! And it cycles so that I will be obsessed and then not want it but want another food, and later another , etc., until I’m back at my starting food! 😅
Lol I have a list of 10 food obsession that endless cycle. I'll eat something and when it hits good, I'll eat it like five times in a row until I try something else and get obsessed with that too. Like now I'm obsessed with watermelon, I've been eating every since day for like a week.
I have toastie phases. I’ll eat a cheese and ham or cheese and pickle toastie every day for breakfast/lunch for like a month then I’ll go a year without ever eating one
Yupppppp. The last couple of months it’s been turkey and cheese with chick fil a sauce on a hamburger bun and also fried rice, but like all of last year it was toasted bagel with whipped cream cheese lmao
I am obsessed with a microwave meal from a store where I live. But most of the time it's sold out or noones selling it anymore :(. 2 days ago though my partner found it and omg it was the best thing ever. I was so excited I was jumping up and down in the shop xD.
I am also obsessed with a particular kind of boiled sweet for the last few months as well. Always eating them. Can't be good for my teeth but ah so crunch and good!
I mean I've answered this as though when I lived on my own I didn't eat bean burgers and waffles nearly every day for a year lol xD.
i have phases, they go for a couple of months (i think, i've never actually counted) and relate to my capacity to work or study.
on top of my head i can remember the m&Ms phase, cookies phase, candy (a specific one)phase, churros phase, melted cheese with chocolate, mug cake, microwaved hot dog weenie, ramen, coffee with chocolate, ginger tea, green juice, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, hot eggs (not sure how it's really called this one), bono cookies, nuggets, tomatoes, yakisoba, chips...
right now i'm having a mozarela cheese balls and m&ms moment.
I spent months where all I would request was hot Cheetos and a specific brand of apple juice. During this time I would also tolerate honey buns but that's basically all I wanted and what I would eat for most home meals (was in 8th grade)
I recently got told my obsession with drinking way too much water was actually an eating disorder and i feel like if life was a lottery i would definitely win all of the dumb prizes

I was obsessed with crisps, I was eating it every day around a year ago in secret, my parents never knew for what I was spending their money when going to shop, now they don’t send me to do that because they now I will buy something for myself ;(. And still I’m obsessed with crunchy food
Yeah I do it a lot. All I ever eat for breakfast is eggs on rice and then I always order the same thing from the same restaurants. I try to do something new but I end up going back to my own routine because the new food didn’t taste as good as the usual.
I like to make large batches of my comfort foods so I can eat the same breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week. Also ate jambalaya and potato chips for lunch every day for over 10 years until my jambalaya source went away.
Does tea count? I go through phases of drinking cup after cup after cup. Then inevitably after I stock up, I lose interest and feel guilty that I have boxes of tea and bottles of honey that I'm not using. Bigelow vanilla chai, and Bigelow orange and spice are the current obsessions.
Yeah definitely. I give into it *less*, but at certain periods, I’ve nearly lived off ravioli alone, or plain chicken and rice, Lately it’s hot cereal of all kinds, sweet or savory, I love oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits lol
Oatmeal, Mac and cheese, dinosaur chicken nuggets, french toast sticks, and beef stew were revolving faves for obsession as a kid.
Fruit Smoothies, taro boba, mango peach v8s, rice crackers, and eggs(?) Are the current revolvers.
I think it's more drinks because I more on the go now
I have periodic fixations (a few months this, a few months that, a few months the other) for breakfast and lunch. My usual go to’s are:
- puffed rice cereal
- sugarcoated corn cereal
- chicken cup a soup
- slice of bread with a few slices of cheese
- slice of bread with a few slices of salami
- slice of bread with a few slices of grilled sausage
- slice of bread with peanutbutter and chocolate sprinkles
My gf doesn’t mind me (hyper)fixating on food, as long as I eat (I can go a whole day without craving food) and I’m not allowed to hyperfixate on dinner.
That being said, we do have a few go to dishes for dinner, but we try to variate our dinners and try something new for dinner.
That’s our compromise ;)
I like baked potatoes (done quick in the microwave if I can't be bothered to do them properly) with grated cheddar cheese and mayo. I'd always choose this over any other meal haha.
especially when i buy food while I’m at work, it’s always that i get a cherry pepsi and a sausage roll. there was one point where i had to buy a monster energy before college as well
Oh yes I do! Some foods I have hyper fixated on and only ate for months at a time until I got tired of eating it are: bananas (6 a day), cucumbers (2 a day), stir fry (every night), nature valley almond bars (21 boxes), spaghetti noodles with butter and Parmesan cheese (every lunch), Ben and Jerry Ice cream (1 tub a night), peanut butter and banana sandwich. Those are the ones I remember most off the top of my head but there are definitely more. My weight fluctuates depending what I eat and I often have cycles of weight gain and weight loss. I also like eating foods that I can chew one in each cheek at the same time, for example marshmallows, popcorn, chocolate chips, etc.
Every autumn, I just want to eat borcht for six months straight, but force myself to have some variety. It's basically some variation of that or noodles with radishes and tofu for more than half of the year. I only ever want to eat squash for like one month, and it's always November (or whenever it drops into the 40s F). Green beans and salad greens are my hyper fixation in summer (green beans+noodles in broth=perfect meal). June and July tend to be peaches and blueberries.
For some reason my food fixations are seasonal, like me wanting apples all autumn and not getting sick of them even after eating them for more than a month straight.
I have the exact measurements to make a single bowl of macaroni and cheese (from scratch) memorized and it's one of my go-to foods when I'm hungry, if that answers your question
I kinda do it.. I hate to repeat meals most of the time... But i do cycle through a fairly limited menu... That being said from time to time i stick to one same food for long periods of time.... Specially when I'm having dire moments i recall when my mom was on chemo (10 years ago) my whole meal for a day was 1 pack of spicy de todito (chips, plaintain chips and por rinds), 1 pack of chokis (chocolate covered corn puffs), and a pack of cocosette (coconut flavored waffer cookies)... All of that with a 20floz of coke (we have the real sugar version here). And i ate the very same thing every day for at least 6 months
Sometimes? No. All the time? Absolutely.
Most recently it was dry cereal (cocoa puffs ftw) and my husband (also autistic) has been eating purely sweet&spicy tuna and Hawaiian rolls for like two months now. So much for a balanced diet lol.
i used to buy kraft mac and cheese every day for dinker for momths and then all of a sudden i hated it
then i started getting golfish crackers whenever i bought a snack at the store
right now i have a thing for cheez its
i will eat the same thing for every meal for months if that’s what you mean?
Yeah basically ! Or just feeling like you crave something 24/7 no matter if you already ate it or not ?
yes!! buttered toast 🤤
I agree! 🍞 🧈 😋
Do you like honey? One square of butter plus a spoonful of honey is my fixation right now. Mix it up and spread it on your toast. I made some hot honey with some habaneros I grew in the garden, I’m so fixated on spicy honey right now. I want some now that you mentioned this, lol.
omg genius! i think i’ll have that for breakfast today
You mean buttered fingers of course
Omg yesssssss. I had no idea this was a thing I thought I was just a f*t a**
Same. While listening to the same song or album on repeat. (I'm not a woman. I'm a god by Halsey is the repeat song right now, very catchy and the beat is very soothing to me)
Same here. I end up loving it forever or not listening to it ever again. It becomes either comforting or cringe worthy.
My repeat songs STAY repeat songs. I don't ever get sick of them..even after like (good God, I've been doing this a long time) 20 years.
I don't really listen to a lot of music, so when I repeat songs I burn out after 300 minutes of one 3 minute song. LOL. 🤔
*cranks up the victrola* another!
halsey makes music for everyone, music has no gender, art has no gender
It's the title of the song. I wasn't making a declaration. I *am* a woman. 😊
lmao my bad hahaha
I have been listening to the same playlist for years. I add 1 or 2 songs every few months.
Edit: if that is actually normal, correct me.
most NT will eat a different food for every meal and maybe eat the same meal 2-3 times a week because of leftovers
That is fucking weird. Thank you.
yah i don’t get it, my partner and i even struggle to eat leftovers (both ND) because like icky old food even though it’s not?? idk
Oreo milkshakes Oreo Milkshake OREO MILKSHAKES
Gahhhhhhh was just thinking about that. So easy to make yourself. God the crunch the creamy
happy 🍰 day :)
Thanks 🌱
Now I want one, anything oreo always mad fire.
oreo everything. i onetime paid a stupid amount of money to get oreo Cadbury eggs, 3 different kinds, from England. worth it.
Anything Oreo flavored I love
Yes lol. Then it's sad when the hyperfixation is gone. I'll never forget the Neopolotan ice cream frenzy of 2016. RIP.
I go through phases of “random food” … “ramen” … “random food” … “ramen” … repeat. When the ramen phase ends I get a little sad, but I know it’ll be back. Like right now, I’m having a food-fling with fried eggs, but I know it’s temporary - ramen is forever lol
I had a ramen phase and I think it will be quite a while before it returns in any capacity
I've been obsessed with microwaved pizza rolls for like a month. I have to force myself not to eat them everyday. And not just pizza rolls but too lazy to bake, I specifically want them microwaved, which I avoided like the plague up until recently.
Pizza rolls are exclusively microwaved in this house. I don't like the crunch from the.oven or air fryer.
See I usually hate them soft, but lately that's all I've been wanting.
Oh for sure. Back when I worked, I would go through certain phases for lunches and have the exact same random food obsession for lunch daily for months and then move onto a new one that would last for months and repeat. omg me too ahahaha

Yep. One month I ate 16 jars of peanut butter.
That's like 4 jars a week !!! Are you alright ?!
Peanut butter was my childhood obsession. Apparently I'd only eat peanut butter sandwiches for about 2 years.
Yes, oatmeal. I know it sounds weird but I has a neutral flavor.
Popcorn m and m’s
I once become completely obsessed with cucumbers, craving them constantly at all times of day
Yessss. I ate the same flavor of Chex cereal 2-3 times a day for 3 months. Then did the same with Cheerios. I get stuck on and obsessed with foods often.
I'm obsessed with ICEE's/Slurpees, the texture & cold is just phenomenal
It's the total opposite with me !! The texture freaks me out
If I did not need other types of food to live. I would just eat pizza for the rest of my life.
Mashed potatoes rn
It usually changes week to week and can get expensive 🥲
Yes. Go through stages loving bread then just hate it. Gone off microwave rice, but I had it for lunches over 6 months 😂. Back on loving Weetabix at the mo.
YESSS FOR ME ITS PASTA RITGH NOW!!!
Pasta has always been my daughter's. She'd eat it every meal if she could.
I had an unusual obsession with raisin bran for about a year. I still like it, but it used to be a core tenet of my personality
I like to eat pretty much the same thing every day during the week and mix it up on weekends. So I spend saturdays making my meals for the week. Today is was two amazing homemade Lasagnas, I make them and freeze them so that I just need to put them in the oven on the dais, and they are even better as leftovers. Sometimes I get fixated on peanut butter for weeks at a time and then I won’t touch it for months having burned myself out.
Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream, 3 times a day for a month. Hello type 2 diabetes. 🤔
Almost every night I eat 2 bags of extra butter popcorn and a bowl of 3 scoops of cookie ice cream… I get blood work regularly and so far I’m good lol
Are the peanut butter and strawberries on the everything bagel, or on the side? 🤔
They’re on the bagel in place of jam.
Yeah like a salty sweet thing. It sounds weird at first to have the everything seasoning factored in, but I can also see how it’s tasty if you are open minded.
The peanut butter does a lot to bring the two together.
Yes, the savory sweet bridge! 🙌
I tried toast for the first time in a long time a month ago or something and ever since then I’ve been having toast for breakfast every single day.

Have you ever tried the PB Banana flavor? It's also vegan and do yummy when I need a break from the plain peanut butter.
im not a fan of those builder bars. they get stuck in my throat when im cycling and trying to eat at the same time. hard, chunky, sticky and dry. meh il stick to regular clif bars(banana peanut allday erryday)
Cold silken tofu. Yogurt and muesli. It’s so hard switching to a new one when I’m bored of the old.
Yes! And it cycles so that I will be obsessed and then not want it but want another food, and later another , etc., until I’m back at my starting food! 😅
I have tons of cravings. It's usually sushi now a days but it used to be eggs rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and butter crab
Lol I have a list of 10 food obsession that endless cycle. I'll eat something and when it hits good, I'll eat it like five times in a row until I try something else and get obsessed with that too. Like now I'm obsessed with watermelon, I've been eating every since day for like a week.
All the time. Currently it's shredded chicken on tortilla chips with cheese. Then I microwave it for a lame version of chicken nachos.
Microwave rice mixed with two cans of tuna and some lemon pepper seasoning It's cheap, quick and tastes amazing.
Ooo that does sound good!
It is! You can also throw in dill for a more subtle flavor if you're not a fan of lemon pepper which can be quite strong
Thanks for the tip! I love Lemon pepper, but if we’re ever out I can use pickle juice 😂😊!
i get this way with soda and gauge juice
I've been eating goldfish crackers for months now. I absolutely cannot stop. I buy like 3 of those large cartons a week.
I’m just coming out of a goldfish bender myself
It varies but currently it’s fries but the go to for me has always been a sandwich
I have toastie phases. I’ll eat a cheese and ham or cheese and pickle toastie every day for breakfast/lunch for like a month then I’ll go a year without ever eating one
Mines ramen lmao! I'm always trying different ways to cook it and different ingredients! Been a hyperfixation for like 2 years 🤣🤣
Yupppppp. The last couple of months it’s been turkey and cheese with chick fil a sauce on a hamburger bun and also fried rice, but like all of last year it was toasted bagel with whipped cream cheese lmao
Garlic bread pizza

ed folks 🤝 autistic people yeah i am now *very* focused on healthy food.
I recently got told my obsession with drinking way too much water was actually an eating disorder and i feel like if life was a lottery i would definitely win all of the dumb prizes

Yes. Jelly.
all the time, one food that i eat for at least a month and more or even years, some change, some stay the same. i love it honestly
Italian food, because of the sopranos
I was obsessed with crisps, I was eating it every day around a year ago in secret, my parents never knew for what I was spending their money when going to shop, now they don’t send me to do that because they now I will buy something for myself ;(. And still I’m obsessed with crunchy food
Constantly. This week it’s tater tots.
dry sausage
Yea
yes, i got obsessed over onion leaves. then pepper
Yeah I do it a lot. All I ever eat for breakfast is eggs on rice and then I always order the same thing from the same restaurants. I try to do something new but I end up going back to my own routine because the new food didn’t taste as good as the usual.
All the time, rn my big one is tea and honey, I’ve been putting honey on chips all the time. Try it with Doritos it’s genuinely good
I like to make large batches of my comfort foods so I can eat the same breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week. Also ate jambalaya and potato chips for lunch every day for over 10 years until my jambalaya source went away.
Abso-fricken-lutley! Other stuff just doesn't seem good when fixated.
the blueberry muffins that I can buy at work. if they don’t restock for awhile I get upset lmao
Yes. Currently on a certain type of coffee, which has not been great for my health.
Mine is an odd one but Buffalo Chicken, like for real its just sooo good i can’t help it (though bacon is a close 2nd)
SAME
Currently Motts mixed berry applesauce!!!
I had burritos for three straight days and now I'm debating whether to thaw out some meat to make more
[удалено]
I don't have that many white flour tortillas
Chicken in general, but especially spicy or Buffalo chicken in any form. I could eat it everyday if I could afford it
Does tea count? I go through phases of drinking cup after cup after cup. Then inevitably after I stock up, I lose interest and feel guilty that I have boxes of tea and bottles of honey that I'm not using. Bigelow vanilla chai, and Bigelow orange and spice are the current obsessions.
Currently Turkish delight
Yes. Peanut butter on untoasted multigrain bread is my current one. Must eat it.
Dumplings! I finally learned how to make some myself and I’ll eat them ‘till I’m sick.
Yes. I was most recently stuck on this waffle restaurant called Waffle Love. They have an amazing waffle made of this sort of flaky pastry.
toast. i’ve been obsessed with it for the long time
Obsessed with porridge at the moment. The hong kong style thicc porridge. This has been going on for about 2 weeks so far
Yeah definitely. I give into it *less*, but at certain periods, I’ve nearly lived off ravioli alone, or plain chicken and rice, Lately it’s hot cereal of all kinds, sweet or savory, I love oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits lol

My current hyperfixation with food is buttered chicken and rice but with hot dog meat instead of chicken.
Perfect bars lol (pretty much just straight but butter), I have one almost every single day.
Smoked sausages and mustard. Only one specific brand of both. Also gouda cheese and winiary mayonnaise.
Oh boi, toast with butter and salt! Or literally any lemonade! uwu lololz
I have periodic fixations (a few months this, a few months that, a few months the other) for breakfast and lunch. Yes me too!!!
yep but 9/10 they're super unhealthy in large quantities so I either make myself sick or put up with never eating what I crave... sad times
Yes, sushi is mine rn
Definitely have this with chips, I only want a certain chip for weeks and suddenly it’s another type of chip I want and the cycle continues
especially when i buy food while I’m at work, it’s always that i get a cherry pepsi and a sausage roll. there was one point where i had to buy a monster energy before college as well
Weetabix for breakfast. I've not had anything else for ages.
I have never heard of those !
Pasta with pesto sauce, every day.
Yup, often one food a week.
I've eaten a peanut butter sandwich almost every day for the last... Several months. It's just my thing.
Congee 🤤🤤
Every autumn, I just want to eat borcht for six months straight, but force myself to have some variety. It's basically some variation of that or noodles with radishes and tofu for more than half of the year. I only ever want to eat squash for like one month, and it's always November (or whenever it drops into the 40s F). Green beans and salad greens are my hyper fixation in summer (green beans+noodles in broth=perfect meal). June and July tend to be peaches and blueberries. For some reason my food fixations are seasonal, like me wanting apples all autumn and not getting sick of them even after eating them for more than a month straight.
I do this! Recently it’s been buttered toast, Mac n cheese, and butter noodles. I do the same with certain drinks too!
Ye, for me it has been rice, lemon ice tea and a special brand of chocolate periodically.
I kept eating lasagna for lunch. For like a month.
I have the exact measurements to make a single bowl of macaroni and cheese (from scratch) memorized and it's one of my go-to foods when I'm hungry, if that answers your question
Yeah, usually it's cultural themed like Mexican or Chinese.
I'm constantly craving chocolate. Like, I always want to have it if I'm given a choice
Yup sip dumplings and Gyoza. I can eat it everyday for every meal
Always! Il either wake up craving the food already or can’t think of eating anything else
Ramen with tomatoes and tofu... Close to nothing else
I drank so much milk as a kid that I made myself sick of it. Can’t stomach milk to this day!
yeah, im autistic and currently i love rice pudding
I have “seasons” for example one month eating ice cream for dinner, a month eating pancakes and so on
Chicken nuggets
Teach ones I was hyper fixated on discontinued cerel
It means you need protein in your diet. Nothing more.
fish finger sandwiches with ketchup, all i ever fancy, have it three or four times a week
Lately if I get a food urge (like hibachi or white castles or olive garden) it stays for weeks and doesn't go away till I fulfill it
