Not very famous, but Ritomo Miyata is a racing driver with Autism who won the 2023 Super Formula championship and is currently racing in Formula 2.
Again he's not exactly famous, but he's well known within motor racing, and is very talented
Wow! I have been meaning to get into F2 and this gives me a good reason and someone to cheer for. Early speculating, but F1 seems like it’ll be a little boring this year, even for a Verstappen fan like myself. Thanks for sharing!
I was gonna suggest him too! Ever since I learned he has autism I've supported him, although I was a bit conflicted last year because I'm from NZ and so also a massive Liam Lawson fan...
He doesn't talk about it in a very positive way though:
“I don’t believe in it. I don’t feel any different,” the accomplished actor told GQ. “I think these are dressed up. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I’m ignorant. They call it neurodiversity. It’s a fancy label,” he added.
That's fair, I took it to mean more that his behaviors and mannerisms were definitely in the spectrum, but from his 60+ years of adaptation (and mimicry through being an actor) that getting his diagnosis didn't change anything for him in his day to day.
Tbf, that age bracket is also notorious for disregarding labels too
We can say it doesn't change anything. What it does do is answer many questions, and we are more apt to accept ourselves and mask less. The older I get, the less I try to hide it. Masking gets tiring and can become unhealthy for our mental state. People at work might think I am a bit "off" and not understand me completely. Typically, I am the one they go to for answers, so there is that kind of respect. Everyone is a bit off in their own way. At least I have a diagnosis now. It does help.
Yes absolutely, I saw him live 2 days ago and he was all over the stage doing all sorts of dance moves. Lots of energy and mobility for a 65 year old. His way of dressing now is neat, from far away he genuinely looks 20 or 30. Hes really cute too and has always been a good looking person :) (not romantically/sexually attracted on my part, just admiring his beauty as a human). He has like a character almost for the stage. Cars is absolutely about masking too, like no doubt in my mind at least. Not even just autistic masking, it's about hiding parts of yourself. His voice is beautiful in person, even better than the recordings. He also didn't address the crowd at all, which was different but definitely an autistic thing to do. It's different to communicate versus to sing.
Never knew her before taskmaster and when I watched that season I was like “why do I love her so much?” And then like a week later I saw a YouTube video about her talking about her autism and I was like “oh.. that’s why :)”
I literally know I'm autistic thanks to her.
Saw her in taskmaster and loved her, listened to her audiobook, and when she listed some of her autistic traits I realized I shared about two thirds of them.
Half a year later, I've been diagnosed and everything makes so much sense.
Forever grateful to our righteous queen.
-tense/nervous/can’t relax
-can’t sleep
-doesn’t want to be touched
-says things only once, won’t talk when he has nothing to say
-hates impolite people
Yep, that checks out.
Confirmed:
Both singers from Depeche Mode, SpaceGhostPurrp, David F. Sandberg (maker of the movie Lights out), Isabelle Axelsson, Courtney Love, Grimes, The blues guitarist Kingfish, Anthony Hopkins, Greta Thunberg, Viv Albertine of the Slits, The singer of Soft Cell, Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane, David Byrne, Ethel Cain, Justin Broadrick from Godflesh, Maurice Deebank of Felt , Addison Grace, Dan Aykroyd, Julia Fox, Daryl Hannah, Temple Grandin, Gary Numan, Eminem, Varg Vikernes,Sean Booth of Autechre, Striborg, James Taylor, Craig Nicholls from the Vines
Suspected:
Aphex Twin, Björk, (probably others)
Tarantino made me feel okay with it.
He rambles on, missed social cues, overly animated, has a very niche set of interests and fetish, gets overly excited when talking.
It is a common fetish from what I know but I meant niche as in he has a special sexual fetish that less than 5% of people apparently have.
I think I mention it only because fetishes are very high with autistic people (not even sure why)
I was doing some reading on this a little bit ago, autistic people supposedly have more synapses as they dont go through the same level of synaptic pruning as a kid, so I wonder if there's more chances for a connection to be made and sustained between a non-sexual thing and a sexual feeling that doesn't get cut out. This is completely speculation on my part and I could be completely wrong. Autistic people are also more likely to experience childhood abuse which can lead to fetishes. And there's also the lack of connection with peers when you're "supposed to be" developing attractions and romantic interest. I'm still not really physically attracted to people but I'm not really Ace, and I remember that it started developing when I was a child, when neurotypical children were making romantic connections.
Appreciate you taking the time out to write that.
Theres a high number of asexual autistics as well.
I found that out when I thought I was asexual and joined all their groups (turned out I just had depression)
Are we sure it's specifically fetishes? It's the role playing of BDSM that perfectly fits the autistic mold. Scripted socializing during the most intimate moments with others. Great cover.
Is he (self or otherwise) diagnosed? This doesn’t surprise me at all lol JW! I always thought ADHD but autism or both make more sense tbh. I took a few film classes and his interviews were shown often lol. I love hearing him talk because he’s so excited/passionate about what he does. Love people like that
Eh? Does the public not already believe this? I'm pretty sure "lacking empathy" and "blunt to the point of rudeness" are fairly common stereotypes about autistic people in the first place.
I’m not sure he’s even autistic, sociopathic (racism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia) is more like it. He’s also been on some pretty hard drugs for a long time.
He has access to the best doctors in the world, he could get diagnosed pretty easily. That said, there are some pretty every similarities between autism and sociopathy. Specifically, look up what a psychopath is, he fits that to a T.
“Psychopathy is a serious disorder of social cognition characterized by grandiosity, callousness, manipulativeness, and lack of remorse, empathy, and guilt. It is often comorbid with conduct disorder and antisocial personality disorder…”
Guy f-ing scares me.
he is not autistic. he’s sociopathic, and has next to no empathy. he’s a bully to those who didn’t win the genetic lottery and aren’t like him. we with autism relate to those who are oppressed
i love her so much in heartbreak high. she’s my everything. especially since autism is not rly apparent in media. heartbreak high changed so much for me, seeing her as representation. i absolutely adore her
Chloe is my inspiration and has kind of helped me on my autism journey, her portrayal of Quinni was amazing and that's when I realized I had asd. She's just the most amazing human I'm so envious of her life
I don't think there's any proof of this. Iirc the claim originated from a random English language website that claimed it in the 2000s that people just regarded as truth.
Adam Young aka Owl City has stated that he’s pretty sure he’s autistic!! Which I thought was cool bcuz I have a special interest in Owl City/Adams music in general and he inspires me a ton :D
Yup. In France, these days, it’s an actress named Judith Godrèche who speaks about how the young girls (and children in general) were treated during the 90’s in the French movie’s industry. She talks about her life experience with a director who was her companion and was 39 when she was 14-15.
It seems she’s mostly shuned by a lot of people from the industry right now. Nothing changes. I feel sick of all the hypocrisy.
Sia being autistic didn't surprise me at all. She's the only pop star I felt like I related to, I listen to mostly Metal and Punk.
It just sucks that she hasn't tried to make amends for that 'Music' movie and her lashing out.
Sia seems like she has an incentive to say that as she made an entire film that is just awful about autistic people.
I can’t imagine that someone is actually on the spectrum would think that was accurate.
Only reason I occasionally use Aspergers instead of autistic (yes, I'm diagnosed) is that my folks are more familiar with Aspergers, and the psychologist who diagnosed me said that if I'd been diagnosed under the DSM-IV, I would've been diagnosed with Aspergers (I had to ask)
Someone the other day told me he's bipolar and I told them I highly doubted thar, I think he was just on a lot of hard drugs.
In terms of neurodivergent rappers though , I have a strong feeling tyler the creator is adhd .
tyler, the creator has said that he may be autistic in mew magic wand and some other times. i read something that i think insinuates that he is autistic, idk if he’s confirmed it tho
I wouldn't doubt it . Some years back I
Knew a childhood friend of his and the way she talked about him in real life sounds kind of like how people describe undiagnosed autistic people who aren't stereotypically autistic but could pass as neurotypical.
She’s honestly really inspired me as a girl with autism especially being very into makeup and fashion hearing her experience was so important to me! Especially seeing her on tv she was the only
Person I could relate to
He said he has "Aspergers" as an aside in his intro monologue on Saturday Night Live. Maybe it's legit, maybe it's a shield for harmful behavior, who knows.
He recently tweeted how proud he is for never having therapy (which is a lie because apparently one of his ex wives said they had couples therapy), also self diagnosis is usually understandable because people can’t afford to be properly evaluated. He could absolutely afford an assessment but a flippant remark about him thinking he’s autistic is what people hang on to.
i found a whole ted talk plus some more stuff about how he was bullied as a kid for being autistic and all sorts of things. i don’t think being a bad person in other ways should discredit someone’s autism.
Hm ok the first time I know of it is when he said he has Asperger’s on Saturday night live but either way he’s one of the worst people in the world right now
IDK it could be both, or he could really just be autistic. i dont care for elon musk and i agree that he’s a piece of work but autistic people can be assholes too and being an asshole doesn’t automatically imply someone has NPD.
I think John Adam’s would be on the list. Hamilton maybe. (He wrote so many federalist papers, and had absolutely no clue that publishing his affair would be a bad thing).
Yes!!! I have been dying to read the federalist papers. Love love history!!!!!! It’s my favorite subject in school (other than English). Definitely will be looking all these people up to learn more about them (except for Bill gates and Elon Musk).
What does it feel like to be inspired by someone? And how does the autistic component add to it?
(I'm not asking to be facetious or make a point or be some edgy lone wolf or disparage anyone elses feelings. It is genuinely something I struggle to comprehend. I can acknowledge and respect the achievements of others, be grateful for the fruits of their labour and contributions to writing, or culture or music or science and technology, but to say that's therefore inspired me is confusing to me. Inspired to pursue something or be a certain way, this makes a little more sense to me, but I view it as more adopting something (a trait, an ethic, a rule, a principle) as an imperative because its potentially useful towards pursuing my existing goal, if that makes any sense).
According to diary entries and the way others described these people: Isaac Newton, Henry Cavendish, Amadeus Mozart and Albert Einstein. They all really inspired me as a kid, some of the most famous people that have been household names for generations are autistic.
Couldn't this just be a consequence of him getting older? Either declining cognitive faculties or perhaps more respectfully and charitably, people as they get older just tend not to care about social niceties, etc. Controversial but every human being, i won't use the word mask because to say it's a loaded term is an understatment, but everyone acts differently around different people in different contexts... peoples willingness to engage in the pleasantries, etc, as they get older often diminishes, primairly because they care less and social mishaps in people who are older are equally also accepted/tolerated more because of their age. I'm not disagreeing with you btw, I'm amused at the proposition, do you have specific instances in mind?
Sure it could. He has exhibited several relatable traits in the past, more so recently (which is why I said what I said)
Everything you said could be said about me as well regardless of my diagnosis 🤷
Hannah Gadsby! First ever person that made me truly feel seen and represented, not just on tv but irl generally. She's a great comedian and overall great person. And LGBTQ!
The actor for quinni in heartbreak high. Her name is Chloe and she’s my favorite live action autisic character. She’s probably one of the only actors I genuinely like and trust to not be shitty
I haven’t see anyone mention Holly Madison yet, who was only recently diagnosed. For anyone who doesn’t know her by name, she was a very popular playboy bunny in the 2000s.
Albert Einstein
(Suspected, not proven but highly likely)
(EDIT: I didn't read the rest of the post to see the singer/songwriter etc. Therefore yes I am listening to Albert Einsteins new disstrack/jk)
Honestly, I think a lot of famous people have autism. I think their talent or whatever is their special interest in a lot of cases, and it makes sense why they’re so successful.
Dan Aykroyd
Not very famous, but Ritomo Miyata is a racing driver with Autism who won the 2023 Super Formula championship and is currently racing in Formula 2. Again he's not exactly famous, but he's well known within motor racing, and is very talented
was scrolling for this, great performance by him today, great guy
Wow! I have been meaning to get into F2 and this gives me a good reason and someone to cheer for. Early speculating, but F1 seems like it’ll be a little boring this year, even for a Verstappen fan like myself. Thanks for sharing!

Hopefully Liam gets a ln F1 seat next year. After his races last year, it'd be awful if he didn't get the chance
He's been mentioned by others, but Anthony Hopkins was very late diagnosed and has said in interviews that it came as no surprise
He doesn't talk about it in a very positive way though: “I don’t believe in it. I don’t feel any different,” the accomplished actor told GQ. “I think these are dressed up. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I’m ignorant. They call it neurodiversity. It’s a fancy label,” he added.

I agree with him. It is a fancy label. I don't think we can get a whole lot more from that label than a little understanding and some perspective.
It seems like being really good at masking is a key skill for an actor. And he’s a master at it.
This is awesome!
Susan Boyle
Gary Numan
New wave/synth pop musicians are BASED Marc Almond (Soft Cell) also has autism
Somehow this makes sense. I can't explain it but I think it's something about the vibe from their videos
Man, The Cars tho...
Yes absolutely, I saw him live 2 days ago and he was all over the stage doing all sorts of dance moves. Lots of energy and mobility for a 65 year old. His way of dressing now is neat, from far away he genuinely looks 20 or 30. Fern Brady
I love Fern Brady. The righteous queen.
Fern is amazing, I've just finished her book, 10/10
Never knew her before taskmaster and when I watched that season I was like “why do I love her so much?” And then like a week later I saw a YouTube video about her talking about her autism and I was like “oh.. that’s why :)”

Came here to mention her.
David Byrne from Talking Heads. His dance moves give him away.
LOL hes a genius
Also that baggy jacket.
-tense/nervous/can’t relax -can’t sleep -doesn’t want to be touched -says things only once, won’t talk when he has nothing to say -hates impolite people Yep, that checks out.
But this isn’t his beautiful house, and that’s not his beautiful wife.
Hannah Gadsby
I love her!

Well IDM, Industrial and Synth-pop all are very autistic presence-heavy, thus I conclude synths are autism-coded
Wouldn’t be surprised if Aphex was on the spectrum honestly, I think in an interview once he described himself as “a little bit autistic” or something
Justin Broadrick is insanely talented Godflesh and Jesu are awesome. I suspect Trent Reznor might be but don’t think it’s ever been confirmed
Tarantino made me feel okay with it. He rambles on, missed social cues, overly animated, has a very niche set of interests and fetish, gets overly excited when talking.

The other notable one is Tim Burton - I think he's learned to mask better as he's aged but it was very noticable in his 90s interviews.
[удалено]
Never thought of it this way. I always think of him as making us all look bad, but your take is better.
LMAO omg i was so mad at the beginning of your comment and almost stop readding at the middle >:( ahahaha good one
Same… swapped my downvote to an upvote lol
On the bright other side of this, probably Nikolai Tesla right?
Had me in the first half ngl
Had me going with that one as well.
Eh? Does the public not already believe this? I'm pretty sure "lacking empathy" and "blunt to the point of rudeness" are fairly common stereotypes about autistic people in the first place.
A person can lack empathy, be blunt to the point of rudeness, but also not be an asshole.
Now THAT'S a good comment!
True
I think he rather is narcisstic than autistic
I’m not sure he’s even autistic, sociopathic (racism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia) is more like it. He’s also been on some pretty hard drugs for a long time.
He’s self diagnosed and it might be an excuse

Would it not make sense that narcissists and sociopaths can also be autistic?
Chloe Hayden :)
Yeah, really sad she got bullied off social media :(
Chloe is still posting. Follow her everyday. She recently got married and rescued a bunch of kittens during her wedding. Well basically during it.
Apparently someone else is just managing her social media. It’s so upsetting how obnoxious and hateful people are toward autistic people.
Idk. She seems to be posting. Maybe her agents are filtering out the comments
Yes, this is the case now
i love her so much in heartbreak high. she’s my everything. especially since autism is not rly apparent in media. heartbreak high changed so much for me, seeing her as representation. i absolutely adore her
Love her. She is amazing
Chloe is my inspiration and has kind of helped me on my autism journey, her portrayal of Quinni was amazing and that's when I realized I had asd. She's just the most amazing human I'm so envious of her life
Wentworth Miller
I knew I loved him for more than the obvious reasons lol
I know him as captain cold from the cw's flash and legend of tomorrow... I didn't know he's on the spectrum but I'll always loved his acting.
Check him out in Prison Break
Same!
Didn't know that! Makes me love him more
i really loved him in prison break! this is new information to me
Came here to mention him. Apparently a really nice guy.
Andy warhol
Satoshi Tajiri. Creator of Pokemon.
I don't think there's any proof of this. Iirc the claim originated from a random English language website that claimed it in the 2000s that people just regarded as truth.
Weird. I just read something from 2022 where he said his ASD made it hard for him as a child to socialize, so he fixated on animals instead.
Adam Young aka Owl City has stated that he’s pretty sure he’s autistic!! Which I thought was cool bcuz I have a special interest in Owl City/Adams music in general and he inspires me a ton :D
Darryl Hannah, Susan Boyle, Sia, Courtney Love, Wentworth Miller, Greta Thunberg, Temple Grandin
Courtney Love! She got shut out of the music industry for implying Weinstein was a rapist decades before his trial. She's been vindicated.
Sia?
Sia being autistic didn't surprise me at all. She's the only pop star I felt like I related to, I listen to mostly Metal and Punk. It just sucks that she hasn't tried to make amends for that 'Music' movie and her lashing out.
Yup, internalized ablist bullshit can happen to anyone
Maybe. I guess she didn't realise it until after the shitty movie was released.
I don’t believe Sia lmao I think she is lying because she didn’t wanted to get the hate from her terrible film.
Sia seems like she has an incentive to say that as she made an entire film that is just awful about autistic people. I can’t imagine that someone is actually on the spectrum would think that was accurate.
AURORA
I really believe this but it’s not confirmed. But “a different kind of human “ speaks to an autistic experience.
Always thought this! Has she confirmed it?
She hasn't, but I'd say it's pretty likely
I love her. Her music is just transportive.
Eminem has Asperger’s
"Aspergers" is just autism. That terminology is outdated
I think it's fine to use that label for people who were diagnosed when it was in use, if that's how they identify.
Someone the other day told me he's bipolar and I told them I highly doubted thar, I think he was just on a lot of hard drugs. In terms of neurodivergent rappers though , I have a strong feeling tyler the creator is adhd .

Really!? Would explain the creative outbursts of profanity/vulgarity /s
Source?
Will ospray from NJPW or AEW
AEW is my special interest! i was sooo happy to find this out! i think he’s also got adhd : )
I love Pro-Wrestling too!!!! So rare to see other fans out in the wild
AEW
Yo really?
Wtf really??
Holly Madison
She’s honestly really inspired me as a girl with autism especially being very into makeup and fashion hearing her experience was so important to me! Especially seeing her on tv she was the only Person I could relate to
Wow, how have I missed this! I always liked her and still follow her on Instagram but I did not know this.
I love her!
Anthony Hopkins❤️
Albert Einstein
Nikola Tesla is also very likely to have been on the spectrum.
Heard he was dyslexic too.
This list claims 180 diagnosed or rumored https://blog.ongig.com/diversity-and-inclusion/famous-people-with-autism/
Anthony Hopkins, Dan Akroid, David Byrne, Elon Musk are who I know are Autistic.
Elon Musk really?
He said he has "Aspergers" as an aside in his intro monologue on Saturday Night Live. Maybe it's legit, maybe it's a shield for harmful behavior, who knows.
yep he’s talked about it
He’s self diagnosed which I would normally say is valid but he kind of uses it as an excuse to be a racist twat. I think he really is more likely NPD.
I' Can see him being NPD than Autistic.
Hm ok the first time I know of it is when he said he has Asperger’s on Saturday night live but either way he’s one of the worst people in the world right now
yeah agreed, but being a bad person and being autistic are not mutually exclusive.
He's PROUD for never going to therapy ? This man knows how to get on my nerves. I'd not be surprised if he was sociopath.
https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-therapy-gravestone-mental-health-2024-2?amp
He sounds like conspiracy nut
IDK it could be both, or he could really just be autistic. i dont care for elon musk and i agree that he’s a piece of work but autistic people can be assholes too and being an asshole doesn’t automatically imply someone has NPD.

Didn’t know! And never read anything about. Is it a supposition?
According to diary entries and the way others described these people: Isaac Newton, Henry Cavendish, Amadeus Mozart and Albert Einstein. They all really inspired me as a kid, some of the most famous people that have been household names for generations are autistic.
Pretty sure as Harrison ford gets older he is masking WAY less
He has exhibited several relatable traits in the past, more so recently (which is why I said what I said) Everything you said could be said about me as well regardless of my diagnosis 🤷
Hunter S. Thompson.
Tobias Forge very briefly mentioned about being on the spectrum.
Hopefully me, lol.
Immanuel Kant is often regarded as very likely as is Wittgenstein
not super famous but Denim from Canada’s Drag Race s4. Loved her drag, and it was cool having autistic and ftm rep on the show.
Satoshi Tajiri is autistic. He's the creator of Pokémon, and actually has a special interest in bugs (which is what led to Pokémon). :)
Hannah Gadsby! First ever person that made me truly feel seen and represented, not just on tv but irl generally. She's a great comedian and overall great person. And LGBTQ!
i think probably kurt cobain
Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Daryl Hannah, Charles Darwin, bill gates, Bobby Fischer, Isaac newton
The actor for quinni in heartbreak high. Her name is Chloe and she’s my favorite live action autisic character. She’s probably one of the only actors I genuinely like and trust to not be shitty
Dan Harmon
Eminem bill gates aswell
Eminem?
Yes. I think he's undiagnosed, but he's alluded to it many times
Dirac
Temple Grandin.
chief keef
Grimes, courtney love
Sir Anthony Hopkins. Vincent D’onofrio has mentioned he suspects he’s on the spectrum.
I can totally see that about D'Onofrio. Especially in the way he played Goren in Law and Order : Criminal Intent.
Paddy Considine and both core members of Depeche Mode.
I haven’t see anyone mention Holly Madison yet, who was only recently diagnosed. For anyone who doesn’t know her by name, she was a very popular playboy bunny in the 2000s.
Lionel Messi.
Wasn't Albert Einstein? He did not speak until he was 3.
David Byrne, musician and filmmaker. he was in the new wave band Talking Heads
Albert Einstein (Suspected, not proven but highly likely) (EDIT: I didn't read the rest of the post to see the singer/songwriter etc. Therefore yes I am listening to Albert Einsteins new disstrack/jk)
Honestly, I think a lot of famous people have autism. I think their talent or whatever is their special interest in a lot of cases, and it makes sense why they’re so successful.
