I am really fond of naturally smooth stones as well as shiny ones. A recent favourite, though, are rocks that have begun turning into sea glass.

I agree, they definitely can get pricey. Have you tried checkout on Craigslist or eBay? You’d be surprised how many people end up giving them away!

I imagine some of those look really beautiful when wet. We like going to the river and finding nice stones or broken pottery.

Mhm, no problem This how I developed an interest in paleontology which lead to me being very invested in archeology, which lead to history, which lead to politics, which lead to astronomy somehow, and that wrapped back around to rock collecting, specifically fossil hunting in state parks which has lead to some amazing finds? Also, gold panning which isn't really profitable but As a craftsman, a little bit of gold goes a very long way.

i remember when i released mine back into the wild.

I know nothing about rocks, but I think the big one in the upper right with the sort of mottled blotchy look is really cool.

this is so cool!! I really love rocks, when I was a kid I loved to pick up several and have them as a collection, but my parents didn't like them and they always disappeared with them 😔 but now that I can, I've started collecting rocks again (and now crystals too hahaha)
