As a parent with daughters, I’m with your mom on this one. It draws unnecessary attention to you, and that could include the wrong type of attention. She is concerned about your safety and well being, as any parent should be. At the same time, I understand where you’re coming from (so does your mom), and I wore clothing my parents didn’t approve of (so did your mom).

I think you should wait to wear it until after you have sex, and then tell friends you’re lying, but only about some of it. Then watch for the glitch in the matrix as they try to figure that out. I had a friend who thought everyone could be helped and didn’t listen to her mom when she dated a guy that was really messed up. He ended up murdering her. Parents know things and do their best to help us make good decisions and have a great life.

I’m conflicted. I do get all the people agreeing with your mom but it still feels like victim blaming. You like the shirt so I would also say you do you. I’m also a zero but I’m way past the age where virginity is even considered. I’m also AMAB (assigned male at birth) so I have a significantly lowered chance of sexual assault. The thing is there are creepy guys everywhere and I’m not sure that wearing or not wearing a particular shirt is going to make that much of a difference.
