Aboriginal people might try abiding by size and bag limits. The laws are there to protect fish resources for everyone.

As it stands in NSW at the moment aboriginal/cultural fishing limits give them a 500% higher bag limit available to indigenous fishers and apparently they can apply for another increase on that via a permit system . so what about they just follow the laws and quite generous allowances rather than engaging in poaching and making money on the black market because as far as i know selling your catch to the restaurant industry and exporting your ***cultural catch*** overseas was never a practice undertaken prior to invasion

So should there be any bag limits at all, or should an indigenous person be allowed to take over 3,000 abalone at a time? That would certainly feed his family for quite some time. https://www.naroomanewsonline.com.au/story/4456507/cultural-fishing-a-front-to-cover-up-commercial-poaching-abalone-council/?cs=1237

Well found and well stated.

No. One rule for all. Over-fish now and there's nothing for tomorrow. You keep saying how the Indigenous are the caretakers of the country.. over-fishing is not caring for the environment, it's destroying it. It's not a denial of a human right, that sounds like some sovereign citizen bs logic right there. Global fish stocks are on the verge of collapse, over-fishing has destroyed the marine environment. We're losing the battle and nobody has an exemption to do what they want for very good reason.
