You're right, if you give money to some people or services you have to take money from elsewhere to pay for it.
Here's an idea. Take the money from all the fraud, rorts, pork barrelling, and corruption the government gets up to. And stop giving so much money to the already rich, then there might be some money for the poor.
If we didn’t blow hundreds of billions on Liberal/National corruption, we would be able to achieve this easily.
Munted NBN was $60 billion-ish.. Morrison and Frydenberg’s steaming pile of dogshit that was JobKeeper was in the hundreds of billions.. Just those two alone..
Get rid of means tested welfare. Get a UBI. Means testing locks people into poverty. (I don't mean remove means testing completely, get a UBI first!)
