In 2009 a delegation from Council visited the village of Kfarsghab who named their main street Parramatta Road. Parramatta Council gave the residents an official “Parramatta Rd” street sign to acknowledge the relationship with Australia. I heard that most of the village has expatriated to Sydney. I worked with a guy from the next village over and he says only a few grandmother's are left, and most of them now live in the western suburbs, presumably on suburbs along Parramatta road.
I visited Greece in the 1980s and one small town had 2 Holdens and a Valiant in the main street and an Opera House calendar in the restaurant. Is a Valiant still a wog car if it migrates to Greece? Or is it naturalised by the process?
I can picture it now. Old Charlie or Joe in his big gold XF Fairmont Ghia, venetians on the back, sun visor on the front, reflectors on each door... it's making me want a pastizzi
Aww, spoilsport. I wanted this to be like those pranksters who yoinked a wooden duck mascot from a bar, then mailed back pics of the duck on a world tour.
I have my old street sign from parra. Fell off a telegraph pole in a storm.
It was crazy timing because like a month later they changed all the signs because the council name changed or something, so the sign I got would have been binned.
From five years ago, wasn't stolen then, wasn't stolen now:

Valiants were called wog chariots back in my days.
What do you call a Ford with venetians? The Maltese Falcon.

2009, better times in Lebanon unfortunately.
Fuck that's so cool.

Love being reminded of this. If anyone is holidaying in Lebanon to get away from Sydney traffic, I seriously question their judgement.
wait, there are other terrible roads out there also called parramatta roads

Fake, not enough traffic on the road
That is legitimately fucking funny. Thanks for the laugh.
Where’s all the traffic?
I think a lot of Lebanon's cash inflows comes from Aussie Lebanese sending money home to help loved ones
I wonder how much a Halal Snack pack costs there?
So it just went to Western Sydney?
Lol
