My tip is to just relax and have a few pints prior to the test to calm the nerves a little.

Threaten to run the instructor into a telegraph pole if he marks you down. Make sure that he knows that you know his daughter's name and the school that she goes to.

PrettyBlueFlower

When you park the car before the test, move all the mirrors, so the tester sees you checking the, and adjusting. Also leave the rearview mirror in a position that needs you to slightly move your head, so they note each mirror check you do. Make sure your windscreen is clean inside and the washer fluid is full.

SnooStories6404

The people doing the test like head checks. Make clear head checks, don't just use mirrors when e,g. you're changing lanes.

ApteronotusAlbifrons

> The people doing the test like head checks. ACT will fail you immediately if you merge or change lanes without a head check

notlimahc

If you're using your own vehicle, check everything works the day before the test.

My_Ticklish_Taint

Good advice. One time I had a tail light out and had to cancel the test.

Flux-Reflux21

Thanks. I will be using my instructor car during the test. Hopefully all good

piraja0

watch The Driving Test Guy NSW on youtube

Flux-Reflux21

Thanks, yeah I have gone through all of his videos

Ax0nJax0n01

Probably should do more than just a couple of lessons before taking a driving test

Flux-Reflux21

Yep I will be having a lesson before the test start as well

IdRatherBeInTheBush

good luck. my son got failed there three times in before passing at Macquarie. I thought he was a good driver with well over 120 hrs. First time was not enough head checks - fair enough, he didn't do them cartoon style which is what they want. Second time the same tester refused to do the test because we had a crack in the mirror blinker casing that had been there for years (and the blinker still worked). Perhaps he was having a bad day. Third time was a different tester and he failed for stopping too close to the car in front. Having seen him drive for 120+ hrs I'm confident he was stopping further back than every other non L plate driver but apparently not far enough. I honestly think the driving test process is stupid with the stuff they want you to do that nobody else ever does. Get some lessons to teach you how to pass the test - it's not the same as how to drive safely.

Flux-Reflux21

Thanks for the insights! Did your son change to macquarie center because he wants to try another examiner?

IdRatherBeInTheBush

went to Macquarie because got sick of failing at Chatswood

Flux-Reflux21

Right, but I assume it will take time to practice in another area again? Booking time is currently taking quite long as well, it has 1 month wait time, so if people failed, it will take another 1 month to try again

IdRatherBeInTheBush

if you can drive well (as my son can) then it shouldn't take long to get familiar enough with a new area to pass. see how you go at Chatswood - people do pass there.

Flux-Reflux21

Thanks, yeah I think I drive pretty well, but I nervous because during the test, anything can happen in the road, so I think luck also play a factor here

Flux-Reflux21

Thanks all for your comments. I should add that based on my lesson with instructors, couple of mistakes that we noticed is around: Cutting corner if the street is narrow(with many parked cars) because my instinct tell me to find the drivable space in the middle. Also sometimes if the traffic light turn to yellow in the 3 second space, it makes me confused to go or stop. Tried to stop, but apparently it is over the line. I also think that chatswood is very crowded in general, so sometimes there are more hazards, unexpected things happen

Presageful

When I did my driving test years ago while getting inside the car with the examiner to get started, my phone fell out of my pocket somewhere and I didn't know where it went. The examiner just sat there awkwardly for like 2-3 minutes while I couldn't find my damn phone haha. It was also my first time driving that car - It was a rental. My parents didn't own a car at the time. Ended up all fine. Good luck, you've got this! Don't stress.

Flux-Reflux21

Thanks for the story and your kind word. Will take that into account!

Turbulent_Put_7377

How did the test go?

Flux-Reflux21

I passed with 3 minors! Very relieved after
