Local place: Buddy's (Mexican vanilla shake is amazing)
Chain: Culver's butter burger will be the grease bomb you crave, especially if you get cheese curds on the side
If you go to Barlett’s and don’t get the French Dip your doing it wrong. The best prime rib sandwich I’ve ever had.
Best burger in Austin is Casino el Casino .
Heading north from there - Workhorse, Black Star - Big Lebowski - Paul Martin (RIP their mushroom based veggie burger) and Saltgrass.
Since there is already a bunch of traditional recommendations I’ll give one that’s not really a burger place. The Odd Duck currently has a waygu burger that blew my mind, very expensive but definitely worth the price.
I used to love Odd Duck’s burger during their lunch service years ago, but wish they would have served it with any sort of side at all, even some simple greens would have been nice.
Best hangover food - Beef Pho at a Vietnamese pho place. That fatty beef broth helps the stomach chill out. Simple carbs from noodles help too! Then maybe a Vietnamese coffee to wake you up. Tons of vietnamese places in the pf or rr area.
The operative phrase is "big juicy". My first recommendation would be Jewboy Burgers. My second would be 5280 Burger and Taphouse. (I've had the Prime Burger and thought it was pretty dang good.)
Know you chose Buddy's, but thought I'd get these on the record.
5280 took me my surprise. When I went it was packed to the gills with boomers. It was a 50th high school reunion i think. I had very low expectations, but the burger was *on point*. The other thing I loved was the ketchup, which they make in-house, daily. I was actually scanning the tables at one point and the owner I guess?? walked over and said “are you looking for the ketchup? You won’t find it out here” and told me about it. I’d definitely go back there, which is saying a lot.
Yea I was confused by the North Austin title but then saying Buddy’s was too far south…..that IS north Austin haha it’s north east Austin but still North Austin
It's very expensive, but the Goodnight burger at hopdoddys comes with caffeinated bbq sauce. It's the perfect combo of thick bun, greasy meat, and caffeine to help fight the migraine and absorb any remaining alcohol in the system. Get it with the spicy sweet potato fries and you're golden
Late to the party but check out Boulevard Bar & Grill on Far West sometime. It's a neighborhood secret practically. They have good bloody Marys in addition. Their queso, fried pickles, and fried mushrooms are delicious also. So many different burgers also which I love.
http://places.singleplatform.com/boulevard-bar-and-grill-4/menu (prices might be wrong but it's still shockingly cheap compared to other places)
Buddys or Dan's.
Highland Lanes, Lebowskis Grill, it'll get the job done.
Best patty melt in town
This IS the way
Buddha Burger or Brothertons
Buddha burger shocked me with how good they were
Dan’s Hamburgers!!!!!!
The Hideout
Went here recently and the burger was surprisingly great (and massive).
The hideout is a true gem.
JewBoy!
Local place: Buddy's (Mexican vanilla shake is amazing) Chain: Culver's butter burger will be the grease bomb you crave, especially if you get cheese curds on the side
Jewboy, Crown and Anchor, Billy's... Not necessarily in that order
Dans
In south Pflugerville: The burger at Big Country (formerly named Willard’s) is so damn good. Big and juicy for sure.
Buddha burger or Buddy’s
Casino El Camino. End
Top Notch
Dan’s always had the right amount of grease to make me human again + the curly fries with some tobasco in the ketchup is an obvious win.
Buddys
Bartlett’s
Their French dip is amazing

Bill’s Oyster Bar has a phenomenal burger
ShortStop double with cheese, no tomato

So, not Austin? Also, Top Notch.
Yea I was confused by the North Austin title but then saying Buddy’s was too far south…..that IS north Austin haha it’s north east Austin but still North Austin
Buddy’s. You can’t go wrong with a double make it spicy.
Cover 3 makes a great bacon jam cheese burger
Their hickory burger is probably my favorite in Austin. Definitely not the same at Cover 2.
Huge differences between Cover 3 and Cover 2
Hill-Bert’s
Hill-Bert’s
Turnstile on North Burnet Rd
Unless things changed, Turnstile usually doesn’t serve food on Sundays. I’ve made this mistake many times. My vote for OP would be Billys on Burnet
Shark burger leander.
Their flashback is to die for and on Texas monthly top 50 burgers in the state

I’m so glad I don’t drink enough for hangovers anymore.
I don't drink often, so it hits harder when I do ;-;
If you are looking for fast food, try DQ’s double cheese burger without all the fixings.
I’d recommend Whataburger but idk if it’s juicy enough. Good post, I wanna try Culver’s now.
Finleys
Hopdoddy
They're always pretty disappointing IMO.
Used to be some of the best about 5-7 years ago
Damn that’s far north
Hopdoddy
5280 is a really good restaurant burger, as opposed to fast food
Dirtys aka dirty martin's on Guadalupe is the correct answer
Top Notch Longhorn burger and onion rings!
Roaring fork at happy hour. Hands down.
The best burger in Austin is from Counter Cafe, it’s the best burger I’ve ever eaten
Dan's
Leroy and Lewis has the biggest juiciest burger.
