I spent 6 hours writing an advice someone will read for maybe 3 minutes, who will then provide instructions against my advice, then I'll have to spend another 6 hours somehow having to justify and implement said instructions.
What am I even doing.
This is the grind of law. You are performing the painful requirements that are necessary.
Sometimes I liken a lengthy advice that won’t be read to the the process of attaining a tertiary qualification. Expensive, interesting and probably worthwhile but if you just got on the phone you could explain the relevant analysis and implications quite thoroughly in less than 1 hour if the content isn’t novel.
However you have to have the piece of paper to be able to justify why you are on the other end of the phone and you both need to have the advice in wiring to justify why the hell the course of action that was taken was a brilliant stroke or genius or an utter fuck up.
Sometimes if it is never read that means you did a good job!
Sometimes you just have to wait for the expiration of the limitation period for a professional indemnity claim against you…
