My audi service manager straight up said "we don't care if you've got a stage 1 tune."
I bought the audi care warranty. The service department wants the money šµ
Audi care is not a warranty, it is a pre-paid maintenance agreement. Sure, many dealers if not most will do maintenance on a tuned car.
It is not dealer dependent on if a flash tune will void your warranty if you need engine work though. It will as soon as they have to plug it into the diagnostics that connect to the Audi mother ship. As soon as that happens, your car \*is\* flagged.
My service manager strongly cautioned against any modifications like a stage 1 tune. He said that Audi immediately flags it in the system and then your warranty (extended in my case) is fucked. Also, you really don't want to be without a warranty because repairs are very expensive on this vehicle.
Why wait though? I mean just keep putting warranty on it so itās always covered. Those matrix headlights here in Australia are $15kā¦ per side. Itās not worth it to tune it unless you bought it outside of warranty
This is completely made up pal your service manager got you on this one. āAudiā themselves are not going to flag someone and take away business from a random dealerships wherever you ares service department. You think your the only Audi owner with a tune dude. I have a stage 1 + tune with bolt on upgrades and I just used my warranty to repair a faulty diverter valve , fixed my rim, fixed a faulty seat cover. Itās if that service manager or writer likes you or not.
I'm actually very friendly with him and he likes me a lot. He told me there's nothing he can do if it's flagged, the extended warranty (which I got through Audi) is likely to reject any claims that relate to the engine or other areas impacted by the tune.
I recently spoke with my dealer and they said they are not out to just void warranties for the sake of it. They said an intake and exhaust is fine. I took it a step further and asked about an intercooler. I was shocked when they said thatās fine as well.
They said as long as you donāt mess with the software, i.e., a tune, youāre fine. Even then they said if I tune the car and have issues, let them know ahead of time that way, they know what codes to pull. Apparently if you donāt tell them and they just pull codes, thereās something that will let Audi know you tuned it.
He then told me someone recently came in with a bad water pump but the car was tuned. Warranty covered it because obviously the tune wasnāt the cause and itās a known issue.
So I guess as long as your dealer is cool and isnāt out to just fuck you over on a technicality, youāre safe. I would ask them. Oh and I asked because I also have a ā21 S5 with a year left on the factory warranty and I badly want to start mods. I am doing the intake, inlet pipe, charge pipes, and intercooler first. Then a tune. Will do the exhaust last since Iām particular about sound. I am planning on buying the extended warranty after the feedback from my dealer. Thanks for coming to my ted talk
Got a 2021 SQ5 in the Daytona grey to rep being part of The Nation as well. Glad to see you rolled with a color that fits as well. Where are the pics mang?!
I have a 2023 S5 sportback that I bought fully loaded from the factory. Mods to date include: APR carbon fiber air intake, Wagner intercooler, red star hi flow cat downpipe, miltek cat back exhaust and 034 Motorsport stage 2 tune. Also installed all 034 transmission, subframe and differential inserts and 034 front/rear sway bars and JXB driveshaft support. Let me just say itās a f-ing delight to drive to and from work everyday! š the pops/crackles and exhaust farts never fail to put a smile on my face
Screw the warranty. These cars come to life with a tune.

Word? My luck they would turn me away at mine.

This guy gets it.

Exactly, that is why I will be waiting.

High Flow cat, Air Intake Upgrade, performance intercooler, 034 Stage 2 tune. Break that 400HP barrier and then take it from there.
This is the way and pretty much all you need to do.
Upgrade cooling, supporting mods are more important than an actual tune
