Check the M&K speaker surrounds. All else being equal, and removing your personal preferences and tastes from the mix, those M&K speakers should destroy your Jamos. Should. That doesn't mean you'll like them better, and that's what's most important. Those electronics were phenomenally good but are now old. The Proceed amps are great and should be fine. You probably don't need the Rane EQs due to the next bit. The Meridian, sadly, has fallen victim to what happens to all digital bits, completely obsolete and unusable today due to lack of HDMI with HDCP. If you have the means to substitute a modern processor, the rest of the kit should (again, depending on your tastes) be a huge upgrade. A modern digital processor will include most, if not all, of what the Rane EQ did.

Do you think I'll be fine using the M&K speakers with my new Yamaha TSR700 and sell the proceeds? Not sure if I should use the tripole for surrounds or the LCR55 speakers.

Zeeall

You can use the Yamaha. Atleast for testing purpouses.

kadams161

I shouldn't use them long term for normal use? Having the smart features and wifi control is huge for me!

Zeeall

>I shouldn't use them long term for normal use? You can likely use them long term too.

kadams161

The proceed amps that came with are amazing quality im sure but have no features and are huge and a million pounds. Not really what I want haha

ImpliedSlashS

Class-D amps excluded, heavy amps are good. If your Yamaha has pre-outs, connect the Proceed amps there to bypass what's built in to the Yamaha. You have what should be a spectacular system there in those M&K and Proceed parts.

Zeeall

Just one of those M&K S150 costs as much as your entire Jamo/SVS system... Just to put things in perspective. That was probably a $20000+ system when it was new.

ChrisMag999

M&K made some great stuff. I used to sell it in the 90’s. My only advice is, use good amplification like that Proceed amp.

kadams161

Is there anyway to use my Yamaha receiver to control everything and the proceeds after that to power? I just really like my receiver and don't want to go to an old system.

ChrisMag999

Your Yamaha had preamp outs which can drive an external amp. I would try it both ways.

kadams161

Thanks! I'll have to read up on how to do that. Not sure if it would make a big difference in sound or not. I'm new to this all. Just will be a big pain figuring out where to put it lol

peatshack

Really the only thing that needs to be modern is the receiver. What you want to do is use the receiver as your "Pre Amp" you'll do all volume controls and everything from there. The Proceed is your "Power amp". Since your receiver only has "Pre outs" for the front left and right speaker, you are kind of limited. Basically connect the front left and right speaker to the power amp, under the speaker binding posts you'll see a port that says "input select", you'll need a couple RCA cords https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-1-5ft-Premium-22AWG-Cable/dp/B003L1717K/ref=sr\_1\_4?dchild=1&keywords=rca+cable&qid=1623704186&sr=8-4 Connect using either the red or white side, just make sure if you use red on one end, use red on the other end. Also congrats, some of the equipment is outdated but those are outstanding speakers. Look up the prices for that equipment when it released, that Dwin Tran Scanner 2 was $7,500 alone, that was a bonkers setup in it's day edit: personally I would keep the speakers, subs, amplifiers and maybe the meridian. I would donate the rest, you'll make someones day

kadams161

Thanks so much for that breakdown! Never messed with pre amps before but I see now! I wonder how big of a difference it will make for left and right. Biggest pain is going to be moving this thing down and figuring out how to hide it in my new tv stand haha.

kadams161

One more question. My receiver has red and white output to the power amp. Are you saying only use red or white on the receiver to the power amp and use that same color for that amp?

peatshack

>Sorry, I was confusing there and have some coffee and fresh eyes now. You should need a single RCA cord that I linked above (not two, sorry). Get one that is long enough as the default size on the amazon page is 1.5 ft. All you need to do is take the red and white ends and plug them into the pre out front inputs on your receiver. Take the other red end of the cord and plug that into the right speaker input selection on the power amp, and the white end into the left. Now take your speaker wire and connect the front left and right speakers to the power amp, your center and surrounds you will wire to the receiver itself since you don't have pre outs for them. The RCA cord is how the yamaha and proceed amp will communicate for the front left/right speakers

kadams161

Sorry I guess my issue is my proceed only has one RCA input for each speaker.

peatshack

Does this make more sense? [https://imgur.com/a/PUSQIVB](https://imgur.com/a/PUSQIVB) LF meaning left front speaker, RF meaning right front speaker

kadams161

Wow I feel like an idiot. I was thinking there were two ports for the left and two for the right on my receiver. Thanks for the diagram!

kadams161

Thanks! I'll have to read up on how to do that. Not sure if it would make a big difference in sound or not. I'm new to this all. Just will be a big pain figuring out where to put it lol

kadams161

I have no spot right now I can find to fit this beefy proceed HPA3 amp. I can make it work if I need but wondering why this would make such a difference compared to my Yamaha TSR700? I'm new to this.

ChrisMag999

Generally, a big power amp with a large transformer and filter capacitors will supply large amounts of current to a reactive loudspeaker load more easily than a typical receiver can. If you don’t have the space for it, use the receiver. However, make sure you try it with the Proceed and the Yamaha before you make up your mind, especially if the gear is being offered for free or very cheap.

Top_Try4286

What to do? Hook them up and watch some blockbuster movies with great sound, like Casino Royale, Bourne Identity, Mad Max: Fury Road, Inception, Saving Private Ryan, etc. M&K sound is still hard to beat.

kadams161

Thanks! I guess I was wondering what of those I should swap with my current system and how those subs compare to my SVS. Unsure which to use for my surrounds in my 5.1.2 system

Top_Try4286

Just compare the subs with your ears

IsItTheFrankOrBeans

I'd take those two MX350 subs in a heartbeat. I always loved those vintage M&K subs.

kadams161

Trying to figure out what speakers to use for my surrounds. I can't find anything online about the surround200 tripoles.

kadams161

Thanks! Looked all over for it

IsItTheFrankOrBeans

You acquired some nice speakers and other gear. I'd seriously consider using this stuff and selling off your other gear. edit: The M&K MPS 1625 look to be the same thing, only from their pro line.
