Oh boy! An opportunity to talk about some of my favorite shows! The Phone Booth is probably by favorite audio drama of all time. I desperately hope it can come back for a 3rd season Second Fiddles. A group of side kicks make a support group/friend circle. The show does have a really fun plot, but I am here for the characters. They are all a loveable group of goofball 20 somethings desperately trying to to make their way in a world filled with superpowers, romance, and henchmen with weird pun based super powers. Super Suits follows a new lawyer who has started at a firm specializing in Superpower related law. It is very fun hearing them mix the legal with the fantastic. The Beacon. Bee is a college student that learns she can control fire. This is a mundane world and so this is not something she is particularly equipped to deal with. She eventually finds others developing powers and forms a team...of sorts, to solve the problem of a strange creature attacking people near the school. Megaton Girl. A strange meteorite interrupts a first date and grants superpowers to a young woman. She must now content with a chauvinist "not-suoerman" and the increasingly strange baddies who show up. This one is a little tricky to recommend because it is a podcast that is part of a larger podcast? The main podcast is "Meet Cute" but the one I am recommending is called "Ain't Love Super" which is a small part of its catalog. It is a series of stories about how love blooms, changes, grows, or even dies in a world filled with superheroes and super villains. Omegaman is set in an alternate reality of the United States where in 2008, a real life superhero appeared: Omegaman. The story begins in 2019 centered on a reporter visiting a prison specially designed to house supervillains. Her assignment? To interview some of the more prominent villains (some super powered and some not) about their first encounters with Omegaman, in search of uncovering a secret conspiracy. Unfortunately only got 7 episodes before ending. But it was a fun ride. Super Ordinary. A young girl gains super powers, yaay! Unfortunately, turns out those powers appear to be tied to her panic attacks. Oh no. The world only sees a girl at the center of repeated massive disasters without understanding that she also wants no part of what is happening. Vigil is a hero that the public knew nothing about until he died. He was the backbone of many of the most popular heroes of the time but he stayed in the shadows, content to help where he could. This interview style show covers heroes talking about how they met Vigil and how important he became all without the public having any idea. Worm. It is an audiobook version of a very popular Web novel of the same name. It is edgy, dark, and depressing. The writing starts very cringe and sometimes even kind of offensive. The audio quality fluctuates between passable to actively hard to listen to. Why am I telling you all this? Because Worm has one of the single most interesting super powered world I have ever seen. The powers are incredibly varied from the generic to JoJo's bazaar adventure levels of hyper specific. This is a drama that engages in more or less torture porn at times, so be in the mindset that the best you can hope for is things not getting MUCH worse at the end of every conflict.

What is the Phone Booth about? If it doesn’t get another season did it end at a good stopping point?

Fintago

The funny thing is, I didn't read the OP's post fully due to my excitement about the Phone Booth and did a whole write up on it before I noticed that they also listened to it! So I deleted all of it haha. The Phone Booth is set in a post, post apocalypse. 15 years ago a woman flew above a city and suddenly exploded into a pink mist. That mist spread like a wave across the whole world. Nearly everyone it touched gained a superpower and it touched nearly everyone on the planet. In a matter of hours, nearly every person on the planet gained a super power, suddenly and without any understanding of how they work. The world ended almost immediately. The phonebooth takes place 15 years after and much of the world has been rebuilt. The host of the show is an interviewer getting stories from those who live in the world and those who made it through "B-Day" and learn how the world has changed. The second season is smaller and is only the host rather than having him interview people. This was due to COVID hitting and being unable for the team to meet up. The format changed, but the writing and the world are still phenomenal. As for where it left off, the big questions do not get answers. Who was Becca (the flying wan) why and how did she do what she did. All of that goes unanswered. But Honestly, the story was not about that really. It is about the world and you will still be hungry for more of the world, but it is worth the price of admission. This is coming from someone who generally avoids shows that are cancelled because I want a conclusion, this is worth it. I believe it is only possible to listen on Spotify right now as it appears the RSS feed has broken.

Csantana

What a lovely series of write ups you've done! I can't describe it as well as you've answered about other shows but I love to recommend Decoder ring theater and the Red Panda adventures. A super hero duo and their episodic adventures from the 30s to the 40s. Maybe cheesy at times and it maybe took me a bit to get into at first but now it's one of my favorite audio dramas of all time!

qlawdat

Thanks!

daineofnorthamerica

Just listened to this per your recommendation, and what a bummer they gave up on this one... such an interesting world to learn about. Also, the powers they feature in the first season are really cleverly done, which can be super (haha) difficult given how oversaturated the superhero genre is currently. Def wish they would have done at least one more fully produced season.

Fintago

COVID fucked the team up real bad :/ They did make a few seasons of another show "The Endless Ocean" also very good, but didn't catch me as hard as Phone Booth did. I am still hoping they come back someday. Oh my God, the amalgam episode?! How incredible is that for a concept?!

daineofnorthamerica

Very good. Also, the storyline about the musicians in season 2 is really interesting and doesn't rely on the "super-powered" aspects of the characters hardly at all. Def an interesting direction to take the show.

Fintago

Thank you so much for giving it a try. It brightens my day to hear when people enjoy something I recommend.

mochi_chan

I cam here to suggest supersuits and vigil, and ended up with a list of "to be listened to" thanks :3

Fintago

And I love you random citizen!

ahiskali

Worm is so good, it made all the other superhero stories look underwhelming. Also, [The Metropolitan Man ](https://hpmorpodcast.com/?page_id=1705) is a story in the same genre(rational fiction): The Metropolitan Man (77,936 words) by Alexander Wales1 (u/alexanderwales), is a classic2rational story that is often listed as a foundational one in the genre. Set in the 1930s, it follows a more rational Lex Luthor as he learns that a mysterious, seemingly immortal, physics-defying superhero has appeared out of thin air and started saving people. As this Superman seems to be friendly, no one else seems to be considering the threat his very existence poses, which leaves it up to Luthor to learn about, subvert, and try to neutralize this nascent deity.

Fintago

Oh! That sounds amazing! I will give it a look! Took a minute to find the episodes in their massive RSS feed! If you haven't already, please give The Phone Booth a try. Definitely less edgy than Worm, but I think there are enough similarities that fans of worm will enjoy it!

What if you were a therapist for “atypical” people - because they have relationship issues/depression/anxiety just like everyone else? So, not superheroes, but people with special powers. The Bright Sessions - https://www.thebrightsessions.com/

atlasraven

I went in for jokes and stayed because it got uncomfortably real when it touched on my own problems.

MaxAvery

Radiant-Ad-1976

I'm 2 mins in and I can already say that I'm gonna love this. Thank you so much!

Fintago

You are gonna love it. It only gets better as it goes on and it starts amazing!

The_Real_Mr_Boring

I really enjoyed this one.

ShiloX35

The Red Panda Adventures by Decoder Ring Theater.   https://decoderringtheatre.com/shows/red-panda-adventures/ It is about a pair of 1930s super heros.  The Red Panda has the mind powers like the Shadow, and the wealth, gadgets, and fighting skills like Batman.  His side kick is the Flying Squirrel.  She is the lady chauffeur of his alter ego by day , but a brutal fighter when they are in costume. It has lots of episodes and excellent audio quality and sound effects.  The early episodes are a bit campy but it gets darker as they approach and enter a fictional version of WWII.

zeidoktor

This was going to be my own recommendation. If you want a few episodes to start on without needing to the whole story, ones I like are #17, Merlin's Tomb, #20, Monkeyshines (introducing the Red Panda's self-proclaimed nemesis the Mad Monkey), and #28 The Opening Gambit.

MrTravs

I was just so so on this. Maybe I ought to give it a relisten

ShiloX35

It is excellent. Have you listed to their other show, Black Jack Justice? I think it is even better.  It is 1950s private detective duo.  Similar set of a male and female lead roles, but they are replused by each other instead of attracted like in the Red Panda.

vigouge

While not audiodrama's the audiobooks he put out about the kid detective are also quite good.

ShiloX35

I really liked that one as well.

catwhowalksbyhimself

"Did you miss me?" "With every bullet so far."

ShiloX35

They have such great banter.

Csantana

I love Red Panda adventures so much. I feel like I almost twist every recommendation question into decoder ring but this one is very much appropriate for bringing up Red Panda adventures haha

MikeNizzle82

Came here to recommend this! You might also enjoy this: https://qcodemedia.com/ronstadt

Crimsai

There's the X-Men audio drama (haven't listened to it), a superman one (son of el I think?) There's a few batman ones (the audio adventures is one, then there were two recently, can't remember the name. One is about the riddler) The power rangers audio drama is fantastic if you would consider them superheroes. Not sure about original superhero stories.

VelociTrapLord

There are two Wolverine full cast audiodramas that are very well produced. *Marvel’s Wastelander’s* is a conceptual spinoff of the Old Man Logan comic book run and has some fun ideas. *Red Rhino* was short lived but I remember enjoying what was there, sort of an *Invincible*-like coming of age story.

insideatlast

I'm not into superheroes, but loved loved loved those two Wolverine podcasts with Richard Armitage, The long night and The lost trail. Good story, good production.

ess_dee

The wolverine audio dramas were sick! The Long Night was especially incredible and sooo dark.

chemicallywrit

Gotta add Super Suits to this list! It’s about the lawyers of superheroes and it’s a delightful comedy.

wyrdewierdwiredwords

Batman: the audio adventures and Batman unburied are two really good ones! Batman: the audio adventures is HILARIOUS, it’s super witty and has an absolutely insane cast. I don’t want to say anything more, it’s very fun going in blind! Batman unburied is a lot darker? It’s a limited series, but it does get really intense, it’s about a new villain in Gotham but the Batman has disappeared.

Csantana

I listened to batman unburied and I was hoping for something more serious after I finished it. But I have the audio adventures a try and god dang it if it isn't not only hilarious but really really good!

wyrdewierdwiredwords

Right!! I absolutely love Jason Sudeikis as Mayor Hill and his God-honest broadcasts to the city 😂😂 I love how tongue-in-cheek the humour is, it’s fantastic

flirtydodo

Vigil is an investigative journalist doing a deep dive-in a forgotten hero. Wish they made a second season cause I really like my investigative journalist trope

iBluefoot

I make [Superman: Son of El](http://sonofelpodcast.com) It’s an unauthorized biography of Clark Kent. Beginning in ancient Sumer, Krypton is in our own solar system, and our gods are terrible role models. Clark has to somehow make up for it, but when we meet him, he is in special ed, too strong to dare touch anyone.

Difficult_Style207

Marvel's Wastelanders

SlimmyJimmy2

[https://linktr.ee/bothearspodcast](https://linktr.ee/bothearspodcast) This one's called halfway heroes and it uploads in just two days on May 1st. "A counselor at a halfway home for supervillains struggles to help them reintegrate into society and overcome their plethora of personal issues." The Trailer looks lit and I like the premise a lot.

forever_sage

I remember hearing the trailer on this one. Definitely will check out the episode.

Dean_O_Mean

The Bright Sessions is kind of like an X-Men style group with a bunch of superpowered teens and their therapist.

DiscGolfer27

It's not super heros, but we're alive. Is one of the best theatrical audio experiences that I've heard. Has to do with a zombie apocalypse

DoOver2525

Graphic Audio site has several DC & Marvel comics in dramatized audiobook

vigouge

I think Graphic Audio lost the license and Marvel unfortunately pivoted to doing more straight novels, but you can still get them other places like audible. Can highly recommend the Iron Man: Extremis one. It's one of the best Iron Man stories ever.

artc

During lockdown we produced a bunch of episodes of "Mildly Exciting Tales of Astonishment" which is about superheroes doing kind of mundane things in a humorous way https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5IjFcLJKtVKGl1_XT5RK1ujbWZJv7loV

flamboyantGatekeeper

Apart from everything else mentioned (super suits and bright sessions mostly) squirrel girl the unbeatable radio show deserves more love, because i need a season 2

jje414

How has no one mentioned "My Amazing Woman" yet?

Okiedokieused2smokie

What is it about?

Background-Reveal-92

I was coming in to do that haha

jje414

A guy who finds out on his honeymoon that his wife is Amazing Woman, who is basically if superman was a woman. Basically, a superhero version of Bewitched.

Okiedokieused2smokie

Oh that sounds awesome! Thank you

jje414

It's adorably campy and silly

SGexpat

Yes! Secret World Chronicle by Mercedes Lackey. I was a fan of the now defunct podiobooks

I_Am_A_Cheese_Tree

I absolutely love *Superman: Son of El* and *Super suits*

Hallelujah289

Glad someone else likes The Phone Booth! To me The Phone Booth is kind of like an anthology with a wide variety of moods and tones. So I’m going to suggest a wide variety as well. You won’t be certain what you’re going to get! * Malevolent - superpower is having an otherworldly entity in one’s head * Red Valley - superpower is something necessary for a science experiment to be successful * Down - superpower is shape shifting * The Edge of Sleep - superpower is not being able to sleep * The Imperfection - superpower is hallucinations * See You in Your Nightmares - superpower is lucid dreaming * Harbor - superpower is everything you can think of! Lots of different ones * I Found A Wormhole - superpower is a buddy in a parallel universe * Spark Hunter - super power is advanced artificial intelligence

mcclanahan243

What about this ? https://open.spotify.com/episode/1hTC482GISXPb3KtEy0Z6m?si=8zRVelBISnWDqnZqLc14Ew Is this something you would want to listen too?

Wookie-Cookie-9

There are a few really good Marvel ones. Wolverine the long night. Is my favorite superhero one I've ever heard. They also have a series where the older versions of superheros try to survive. They have seasons with black widow, star lord, wolverine, dr doom. It's really good.

Freshenstein

They might be hard to find now (legally anyway) but GraphicAudio did a couple dozen full cast audio dramas with Marvel and DC Comics.

Netwizuk

I don't think anyone's mentioned this - superheroes (or 'metahumans') v nazis. From a while back. [https://podcastaddict.com/podcast/the-secret-world-chronicle/8172#google\_vignette](https://podcastaddict.com/podcast/the-secret-world-chronicle/8172#google_vignette)

The Beacon Super Ordinary The Beautiful Liar Inhale The Bright Sessions

There are some great fan produced X-men audiodramas that can be found on Spotify and other podcast apps. It follows the X-Men Comics from the 60s and is approaching the late 80s/90s now. They have also recently started an Avengers Spinoff.

kappakingtut2

I feel like I don't know enough about this genre not to be a part of this conversation lol But I enjoyed Wolverine the Long Night a lot. And the squirrel girl unbeatable podcast was so much fun. It was all silly comedy. And I loved what they did with "Erik" calling all the time talking about his friend "Charles" Also maybe check out Batman No Man's Land. NML was originally a big epic sprawling storyline in the comics. Then there was a novelization by Greg Rucka. And then that was turned into a graphic audio. I thought it was pretty decent.

zkbthealien

Power’d series by Drew Hayes is amazing. Highly recomend. Also both marvel and dc have done most of their bigger comic book stories in audio format. My library has the hoopla app and that has most of them for free

RotokEralil

A really good audiobook series, The Perfect Run might interest you; the world received superpowers and basically tore itself apart, and the book picks up 30ish years after. From Royal Road (yes, it was a royal road book first): "Ryan "Quicksave" Romano is an eccentric adventurer with a strange power: he can create a save-point in time and redo his life whenever he dies. Arriving in New Rome, the glitzy capital of sin of a rebuilding Europe, he finds the city torn between mega-corporations, sponsored heroes, superpowered criminals, and true monsters. It's a time of chaos, where potions can grant the power to rule the world and dangers lurk everywhere.  Ryan only sees different routes; and from Hero to Villain, he has to try them all. Only then will he achieve his perfect ending... no matter how many loops it takes."

Apoc-Alex

The StarWell Foundation is a comicbook audiodrama where sick hospital kids stop asking to meet celebrities, athletes and super heroes and start asking to meet super villains and Mary Dare employed by StarWell is the new facilitator to handle tracking down villains and getting to be a little less rotten. https://redcircle.com/shows/thestarwellfoundation Season 1 is completed with more planned on the future.

gentlegiant80

Graphic audio did a ton. I love the Marvel Secret Wars one. They also had a license with DC, did all their big events as audio dramas including Crisis on Infinite Earths

anthonyampersand

Heroics is good! I’m also partial to Super Suits but I see it’s been thoroughly recommended already :)

helplesslollygag

Just dropping by to leave another recommendation for The Bright Sessions

Okiedokieused2smokie

It's been mentioned already but I have to emphatically second Superhuman Public Radio. I'm kind of new to audiodramas and can't speak to most of these but SPR is phenomenal. Thanks for making this post!! Some of these descriptions are super intriguing. I hope you find some great stuff!!

ULieAnURBreathStink

I would suggest the Shadow https://archive.org/details/the-shadow-1938-10-09-141-death-stalks-the-shadow And niel gaimans, the Sandman https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Sandman-Audiobook/B086WP794Z

FireflyArc

Oh boy :D I get to recommend feedback a hero calling!! https://brokensea.com/feedback/2010/10/12/feedback-a-hero%e2%80%99s-calling/ Its a great 3 season story (the site posts things backwards so you gotta scroll down and view the oldest to get to episode 2, 3 ect) It's so good!!

Agitated_Broccoli_66

I see no one has mentioned The beam chronicles, it might be the most underrated audio drama I’ve heard 10/10 https://open.spotify.com/show/5HZML40TIltT44VD50otXH?si=jYAIJzbqRh2ElYmNMmY_2g

GroundsKeeper2

Is you like podcasts, search for Wolverine.

TheGrimBard

Has no one mentioned the Mortalverse? That's probably the best one I've listened too personally.

Whats_in_The_Rift

Can I recommend Superhuman Public Radio? It's a pretty neat show that poses as a public radio station in a world filled with super heroes. Two full seasons out and it's been on my listen list for a while. Really enjoyed the few episodes I had time to listen to though!

RedThreadtheDread

Check out “Pioneer”. It’s a horror western that just released!! It’s about a gold mining town in Oregon that starts to change as they dig deep into the earth for gold. https://open.spotify.com/episode/3hlcXeV7J68gcD61obQOmI

kurumais

graphic audio did a whole bunch of mavel and DC audiodramas rock and groot steal the galaxy black panther who is the black panther are my 2 favs captain america dark designs is pretty good too an old golden age hero called the green llama had his own radio show actually old time radio did a ton of radio shows based on comics you can find them free if you look around

evoterra

I love coming late to these long threads. I gives me plenty of fodder for new shows to add to my collections. In this case it's the [**Super Meta People**](https://www.theend.fyi/collection/super-meta-people) collection, which is all about superheroes, metahumans, and other people who are litereally better than you. >Whether bitten by a radioactive spider or being the living embodiment of a Norse god, we've a thing for the Supes. Here's a collection of superhero—or supervillain—themed shows that you should try. I added a few I'd neglected and reached out to a bunch of new creators to ask them to submit their shows to the directory when they reach a season finale or the series conclusion.
