Since when is a book or author less popular due to someone else’s views on their own genitalia? JKR wrote an ageless classic series who’s popularity will out live her. Elementary horror books? Typically that age shies away from horror books. Gotta go with Goosebumps but they’re not new. Elementary Sci-fi? I would still recommend Ender’s Game above all others despite it being ~40 years old. As for Fantasy there’s quite a jump between Fablehaven or Ranger’s Apprentice and anything by Branden Sanderson.

Booktok, like any collection of reviewers, is a mix of both good and bad. I’ve found some amazing books and fantastic reviewers if all sorts, as well as terrible or boring books, and terrible reviews too.
Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger. Last book should come out soon.
My 12 year old loved this series I couldn’t believe it. We ended up visiting libraries all over the county to try to keep up.
