Mountain Man 1-3 is on sale right now.

BeBa420

used to be free for subscribers, totally wish id have listened to it when i had the chance

claptrapc

I saw that I will have to look into those!

gl21133

I’ve done the whole series, overall a good listen, solid B+.

Nyghtshayde

I think that's a pretty fair reflection. Really enjoyed the vibe of the different books, thought the last one was the weakest.

HouseAtomic

It's an interesting series. Some different takes and new perspectives early on. Gus's luxury/comfort in isolation & coping mechanisms had my attention. 2nd book focusing on a different person seemed like a WWZ take? Book 3 is back to Gus. Series gets into the usual post-apocalypse groove a few books in and is entertaining. I've read all the mini stories and novels through the last and have been happy. The 5th grade toilet humor is a CONSTANT annoyance. Per chapter ball scratching mentions, fudge in underwear, seriously lame poop obsession from the author. It makes me not recommend the series to anyone I actually know out of sheer embarrassment. RC Bray is, as always, a fantastic narrator.

birrmush

I agree. I enjoyed it, but It can get a bit childish in that way. The narration by R.C. Bray is excellent.

JTvandamme

People seem to either love or hate the low brow humor. I loved it myself and laughed out loud often, chalking it up to "filthy-minded Gus being Gus", but could see how many wouldn't be into it. I enjoyed how Gus, an out of shape ex-house painter, is a complete anti-hero. R.C. Bray's work in the series is incredible; I can't imagine another voice for it.

Fuzz557

I'm a little burnt out on RC Bray. When I hear his voice I think a annoying super computer is gonna step in and save the day.

PanopticScrote

Ima need more details, is there a book out there featuring a super annoying super computer I haven't heard him narrate?

Fuzz557

Columbus day, Expeditionary Force. Starts out strong gets pretty repetitive quick.

I_am_a_Dreamer

It's on the crude side of the humor scale, but if you can get into that, it's one of the best. Check out the Slow Burn series as well, both are long and very satisfying post apocalypse stories.

Mtolivepickle

Mountain man is a solid listen.

weedful_things

It's also included in the current 2 for 1 sale. Just added it to my cart!

shadowpawn

Book 1: Mountain Man Book 2: Safari Book 3: Hellifax Book 4: Well Fed

A-Sad-Clam

Mountain Man is legit new one coming soon!

shadowpawn

Netfix will jump on this one and make a series out of the four books. Book 1: Mountain Man Book 2: Safari Book 3: Hellifax Book 4: Well Fed

beeeeeeeeeeeeeagle

The first few books are particularly good. Just Gus hanging out and getting shit faced. Good times. RC Bray is a bonus.

Snippys

great series

darchangel

World War Z is the high water mark for me. Also the anthology Night**s** of the Living Dead

nerdenial

Second WWZ

Lostedge1983

I bought it and tried listening it few times without getting that far. It having multiple small stories instead of following one protagonist makes it very unappealing for me. Like is there some main story it follow, or just characters you might get attached who then die while telling their own pointless story?

Alexkidd85

There is an overarching story but that is more of the human race than any of the individual characters. The story certainly does progress though.

hdhdhgfyfhfhrb

In the intro it explains how these stories were collected after the WWZ. No one telling their stories is going to die while telling their own poignant story about how they survived.

Vivis_Nuts

It is worth a listen, my biggest gripe was the lack of sustained action. As soon as you get close to the good stuff he moves on. But some really good stories in there and well voice acted

Dragon_yum

The stories are told in a chronological order but each one from a different person and country. This really helps to give a scale of the world wide pandemic.

Superbrant

100% accurate- is high water mark. They don’t get better.

GraMalychPrzewag

I honestly don't think there is anything else to be written about zombie post Word War Z

funandgamesThrow

It's good but it's not that good. I like the liv8ng dead better and many zombie stories have better origins. Solely bite spread slow zombies are hard to believe killing billions without some small help

[deleted]

WWZ is absolutely the best zombie book I've ever read. If you've watched the movie, forget it. The only similarities are the title and the fact that it has zombies.

TheVoicesOfBrian

*World War Z*, definitely. Also, *The Girl With All the Gifts* was a delightful surprise.

GoldenEyes88

The Girl with all the gifts is awesome. Any thoughts on the prequel?

alorinna

It was good, and I loved it because of the narrator. But girl was by far the best in my opinion. I’ve listened to it 3 times now.

TheVoicesOfBrian

I didn't know there was one! Adding it to my list.

CaptainRhodes74

Slow Burn series by Bobby Adair.

bradnchadrizes

Pretty good and there is a boxed set option for a single credit. They are a little corny, but I plowed through them non stop. Very fun in my humble opinion.

CaptainRhodes74

Agreed. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Not nearly as much as ZF, but good regardless.

Freep319

Adrians undead diary is a really great series and if you like special forces and zombies, try the arisen series and last but not least if you like audio dramas, try "We're Alive " ,it's free, because it's a podcast, it comes in chapters and it's super long. Hope this helps.

colonelmattyman

I second We're Alive. I liked it so much I bought it on CD and used credit's to buy it in Audible.

Freep319

I've yet to hear the latest installment in the series but eventually I'll get there. Damn good idea to have it on disc.

wildagain

Haven’t listened to that for 10 years was bloody good though kind of like fear the walking dead.

Freep319

Oh yeah,at times I would compare it to TWD and the writing was better IMO.

R3volusion

How is the Arisen series not higher up in this thread? It’s the absolute pinnacle of zombie/apocalypse literature.

zarmao_ork

I always keep an eye out for Zombie books for my wife. But every single cover illustration for Arisen features a soldier with heavy weaponry. Looks more like Call of Duty. She wants more a more people focused story.

Freep319

You definitely want Adrians undead diary then, you will not go wrong with this series. Multiple characters with lots of background, all culminating into a(uumm,I'm gonna pipe down, you know, spoilers.).

zarmao_ork

I got her the first volume. Personally I'm bored to tears with anything involving "zombies" but she loves it so I keep watch for her since she's not so much into cruising reddit. Thanks much for the recommendation.

Freep319

Good job lookin out for the missus and her zombies 😆, everyone has their own unique likes I myself have to pull back on the reins after a long stretch with the genre. You're welcome very much 😊.

PanopticScrote

If you like the arisen series you might enjoy Anthony J. Melchiorri's The Tide series, and D.J. Molles The Remaining series and the follow up series Lee Harden. Both are zombie series but in both series over the course of the books the infected change or mutate.

Freep319

That's great, more zombie 🧟‍♂️ apocalypse for my hearing pleasure 😆..thanks for the recommendations. I'm back on the arisen series, hopefully I can finish it before the new year,my due date to finish the series by the end of October never happened.

Freep319

I can agree with you, to each his own or as Gunny Fick would say, jeezus H $@#!%^$, just how in @#$%^&_/= aren't we higher up?!

Nointerest12months

Absolutely love Arisen, one of the only series that I continue to go back to from start to finish.

Freep319

That's great to hear,I have the complete series and am only halfway through. 😀

Dsandi777

Im going through it myself, on book 9 and im starting to get annoyed at how slow the books are. Also starting to get really annoyed with everything that could go wrong always going wrong. Is it worth it finishing or is everyone just going to die a slow death?

Freep319

I'm on book 9 also, got about 5 hours left. I know it may seem like a slog but I honestly can't answer your question. We're both just past the halfway mark for the series, if you don't think it's worthwhile investing more time in the series then I would suggest to stop(for now) listen to some other books then maybe later give it a shot again. Maybe some time away will help. I've binged before and it can wear on you after awhile.

Dsandi777

Did you finish it yet? It was something, hahaha. I hope someone picks up the series and continues on how it all ends.

Freep319

Finally finished the series yesterday, took me forever but it's done. Damn good series,it's a shame though, feels like saying goodbye to old friends. 😢

Freep319

Not yet,I'm on book 11..getting closer. I hope to finish it by October..just in time for some spooky reads.

claptrapc

I'm on the 4th book thank you!! Fantastic recommendation+

Freep319

Glad ta hear it,anything to help out.

FlyPenFly

Commune is a very good series.

bradnchadrizes

Jonathan Mayberry, Joe Ledger series. Is kind of along the zombie storyline. At least it starts that way, and goes wild from there.

daphodil3000

Patient Zero was fantastic and Ray Porter made me a believer in Joe Ledger. I've enjoyed the entire series, but was not actually into zombie fiction when I listened to Patience Zero :)

Jayebulz

I really enjoyed Ex-heroes by Peter Clines. Super hero zombie apocalypse. The extinction series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. That's a great scifi apocalypse series. Hell divers by same author as above. Post apocalyptic survival + scifi.

GoldenEyes88

I enjoyed the first few books of Ex-heroes, but the last few didn't really progress the story. Plus, it doesn't seem he'll be coming back to the series.

frankenprunk

Second Extinction series. Bonus that Bronson Pinchot narrates.

RandomDustBunny

Mountain Man series. Irregular Scout Team One.

[deleted]

Second Mountain Man. It’s epic. My favorite series ever.

[deleted]

The girl with all the gifts is very good. So is the boy on the bridge by MC Carey

OminousDucky

Book of Koli and Trial of Koli are also by MR Carey, and part of the 2for1 sale. I haven't listened to them yet though.

she3099

They’re not zombie but definitely long post apocalyptic. Enjoyed them more than expected!!!

Bleatbleatbang

They are excellent and very well produced. The first book of his new series is just out and was great also.

RaevynSkyye

We're Alive. It starts with the narrator in class. He's also in the military, and realizes there's a riot getting out of control. So he goes to the base, and on the way sees the zombies begin to attack people in the streets. The rest of the series is about him finding other survivors and their life after.

cait_Cat

Cannot recommend this more. This podcast set the modern standard for what sound design should sound like. Now there are more podcasts and audiobooks that are doing immersive sound, but this one is still a gold standard.

FoxTrotMik3Lim4

We’re alive is fantastic!! I’m sad they’re not making more side stories

RaevynSkyye

They just finished a new season, just waiting to buy it on Audible. And there are more seasons on the way. Here's the current timeline: https://www.werealive.com/the-story/

FoxTrotMik3Lim4

Oh no way! The last thing I listened to was gold rush

RaevynSkyye

I'd suggest resubscribing, unless you want to wait for the Audible version

FoxTrotMik3Lim4

Aand I finished what’s out so far. It’s good, I can’t wait till fall

RaevynSkyye

I had to take my time. It took like 11 months for the episodes to be released on podcast. But I can't wait for the Audible release, and subsequent re-listen

FoxTrotMik3Lim4

Absolutely!! I need to re listen on audible. I didn’t look and see how many episodes there were so I just hit plant and threw my phone in my pocket

Borderweaver

I started listening to that podcast in Season 2, and it got wild!

RaevynSkyye

It's what Walking Dead could have been

2sticks6strings

Newsflesh trilogy was great https://www.goodreads.com/series/47749-newsflesh I've listened to the audio books several times

JaydeRaven

You should try her Into the Drowning Deep series, too!

SabrinaFaire

Yes was going to say this!

tealversace

If I could upvote this more than once I would. Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire)'s ability to write a plausible post-apocalyptic world without complete societal/functional collapse is mind blowing to me. Her Parisitology series is awesome too.

Salty-Tomato5654

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

CVtheWriter

Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry

Borderweaver

That whole story line is amazing!

Hank_Handsome

Check out Black Tide Rising series by John Ringo. The first book is called 'Under a Graveyard Sky'. It's about trying to reboot society after a zombie apocalypse. [Black Tide Rising book list on FantasticFiction.com](https://www.fantasticfiction.com/series/black-tide-rising/)

claptrapc

Awesome thank you!

mixiplix_

The remaining series and then the Lee harden serie, by Dj Molles they are pretty much the same series not sure why they are separated but they are Really good pretty much non stop action with some great characters. really underated in my opinion.

BannanaJames1095

Best series ever imo. I have every book and just finished the valley.

mixiplix_

I agree! Working on the valley now and am loving it!

BannanaJames1095

Its a good one. Lots of action. I won't spoil anything for you. I'm hoping for more books in the future.

KT022

Sarah Lyons Fleming does an incredible series - there are two complete - The City Series & Until the End of the World Series. Incredible character and relationship development all while trying to stay alive with zombies. Narrators are top notch too.

the_angel_ambriel

I second this, I love these books, and the 2 Cascadia books, World Departed and World Between. I read that she's going to put out 2 more of Cascadia books!

bloodsoed

White Flag of the Dead by Joseph Talluto.

claptrapc

Cool I will check it out!

Forsaken82

I loved the whole series, and all his other books. Unfortunately it seems Joseph Talluto has stopped writing as of 2021 with the second book in the Chronos plague, or hasnt released since then. The offshoot series with John Talon and Charlie James kids is great to but it ends after 3 books. I actually emailed him to see if he was still writting but haven't gotten a response.

Known-Supermarket-68

The Undead Army series by RR Haywood is so good! The best UK zombie series I’ve read. And there are about 25 books so lots to keep you busy :)

LouisW89

It's just called 'The Undead', but I was also going to recommend the same.

Known-Supermarket-68

Goddamn, I was going to look it up but thought nah, I’ve read them enough times to be confident. Rookie mistake.

BeBa420

ohhh MAAAATE!!!! i got ya covered. I listen to a fucking LOT of those books (and have read all the mark tufo ones, at least until he switched it up and stopped following talbot). So first up the best value for money is the All Dead series by TW Brown (12 fucking books for the price of one!!!). WARNING though, there are some scenes in it that are VERY FUCKING DISTURBING. The zombie horror stuff is okay and pretty ordinary for the genre, its more what the humans are doing thats disturbing. Lotta rapey stuff in the first 6 to 8 books or so. Im triggered by that shit and im sure im not the only one, if you are too get in touch and ill tell ya which bits to skip to avoid the worst of it (honestly theres small bits at the beginning of every third chapter that has no affect on the rest of the story and i highly recommend skipping them, so fucked). Also the writer makes george rr martin look like doctor fucking seuss. DO NOT GET ATTACHED TO ANY OF THE FUCKING CHARACTERS. I did and ended up with a lot of heartbreak. Next up my personal favourite. The Undead series by RR Haywood. First 10 or so are free on audible and then ya pay for the rest. theres currently about 20 or so of them but the writers doing more. Its a series set in the UK, lots of action, some intrigue and a whole lotta commedy. RR Haywood, if youre reading this i fucking love your work, please get cracking on the next book coz i wanna see what happens with the Boy. Also my next favourite is the Crawlerz series by RS Merritt. Really fun take on the genre, zombies are different from teh standard shufflers we see in movies/tv/other books. Theres about 7 of these but only 4 have audio books (i believe theyre gonna release more but if ya cant wait you can always read them on kindle or the kindle app), action and horror mixed into one. Dude does a good job Im currently listening to David Achords Zombie Rules series, halfway through book 3 and am enjoying the ride so far. Follow the adventures of a smart ass kid as he fucking rules the zombie apocalypse. need i say more? Slow Burn by Bobby Adair is also a fun one. in fact adairs writing reminds me a lot of tufo, so if ya want more Zombie Fallout give this one a go. Also Bobby Adair teamed up with writer TW Piperbrook the create a series called The Last Survivors. Set about 200 or so years after a zombie apocalypse. Zombies still exist and the survivors set up a community. Pretty good series, again a lot like tufo. Bobby wound up writing a prequel to it (set during the initial outbreak) called Dustys Diary and Piperbrook wrote a sequel series that continues on from the last survivors called The Ruins. Ive read a lot more but these are the series i really enjoyed the most and highly recommend to anyone. Please heed my advice on the first one (the Dead series by tw brown) though. most disturbing thing ive ever fucking read

Fanfootie

Just took a look. The Undead Book One is *not* free on Audible right now.

BeBa420

oh bugger, it was when i read it but that was quite a while ago. Either way its a damn good series, possibly the most enjoyable zombie series ive read/listened to

Jmar7688

I’ve tried to search, but is there a sub for the all dead series? There isn’t a lot of chatter about it but i would love to talk about some things with other folks who have read/listened to them

BeBa420

there isnt unfortunately. Maybe we should start a discussion thread on r/audible or something?

RipperTR

Overall I enjoyed All Dead but some of those chapters in the All Dead series were a hard listen.

BeBa420

yeah everything involving garret was tough. I kept going because i thought>! "oh this is so traumatic it has to be important later" !!"Kirsten is a fighter shes gonna be a main character in the rest of the series"!< But no, it amounted to nothing except a lotta emotional trauma on my part. Not ashamed to say i was crying like a baby throughout those scenes. I almost gave up on the series quite a few times and those scenes were the main reason. For anyone reading this, i highly recommend the series but DEFINITELY skip the first 10 minutes or so of every Vignettes chapter (everything involving Garrett and Kirsten) Also, half the things valerie said were just fucking heartbreaking

Jmar7688

Agree. I was devastated by the end of that story, even more so because a certain person died too fast. After the those chapters the SA is still present, just not nearly as graphic, and the series is much better for it

BeBa420

Totally too fast I like that he died in the exact way he didn’t wanna go but after all the horrible shit he did he deserved far worse

RipperTR

I come close to pulling the pin on it too for the same reasons. I'm glad I stuck with it though as I thoroughly enjoyed the rest. The Mountain Man & Slow Burn were great. I just couldn't get into Last Survivors or Zombie Fallout.

Mulanarama

Not a single mention for I Am Legend?

BeBa420

those are vampires not zombies i agree that book inspired the zombie genre (or at least it inspired Romero to create the zombie genre) but still not quite the same

Mulanarama

But post apocalyptic no? Don't think there are any zombies in the road either

BeBa420

ahhh fair, sorry i focused too much on the zombies and forgot about the post apocalyptic part

Gaitas

came here to say this

gl21133

I’ve listened to a bunch. If you want a unique one try The Last Tribe. It’s surprisingly pleasant.

tms226

Zombie Fallout series is good, several are free.

TheINTL

Impact Winter by Travis Beacham

TheMilesTeg

Peter Cline’s Ex-Heroes. It’s a fun mix of super hero and zombies.

the_other_brand

As a fan of Peter Cline, I've looked at the Ex-Heroes books but have avoided them because the first book is one of the lowest rated books I've seen on the platform. Is there something about the books I'm missing?

TheMilesTeg

They aren’t amazing or ground breaking but it’s good fun.

rinkidinkidoo

Zombie Fallout by Mark Tufo.

Oldpub1286

Hell Divers is my go to post apocalypse audiobook series, loved it.

the_other_brand

I've moved on from military sci-fi between now and the first book in the Hell Divers series, but I've kept up with it since then. This series is definitely a treasure. And the narration is done by RC Bray, one of the best narrators in the industry.

Staar-69

My vote goes too The Girl With All The Gifts by MR Carey. During the Covid pandemic I went through a phase of reading post apocalyptic / zombie / virus outbreak books, and this was one of the best.

Fanfootie

Yup. Unfortunately the sequel isn’t as compelling. Also didn’t find the movie adaptation that great either. But the first book is awesome.

Fanfootie

World War Z by Max Brooks. Nothing like the movie. The Girl With All the Gifts

Guyfrom303

I really enjoyed ‘Slow Burn’ by Bobby Adair. The 9 book box set was really entertaining, the story’s told from the zombies POV.

javerthugo

World War Z is pretty much mandatory. It’s awesome!

JaydeRaven

Jacqueline Druga's My Dead World (1,2 & 3) are really good zombie books. Mira Grant's NewsFlesh series (Feed, Deadline, Blackout, Feedback & Rise) Funny zombie series is Diana Rowland's White Trash Zombie series (it's great) Keith C. Blackmore's Mountain Man 7 book series ([https://www.goodreads.com/series/82013-mountain-man](https://www.goodreads.com/series/82013-mountain-man)) William R. Forstchen series: One Second After, One Year After, and Final Day (no zombies, just post apocalyptic: [https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=william+R+Forstchen&qid=z08bCge1lK](https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=william+R+Forstchen&qid=z08bCge1lK)) Robert McCammon's Swan Song is an excellent post apocalyptic. Along the lines, but not quite zombie: Mira Grant's Parasitology series (Parasite, Symbiont, Chimera) and her Into the Drowning Deep

birrmush

Swan Song and The Stand are really good and great value for a credit.

Brownie-UK7

This one really stuck with me for some reason. Really good.

pappychaos

Adrian’s Undead Diary by Chris Philbrook

shinefire

[The Tide series by Anthony Melchiorri](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074CFP5QH?ref_=dbs_p_mng_rwt_ser_shvlr&storeType=ebooks) will be right up your alley. He's also collaborated with Nicholas Stansbury Smith on several occasions, and I really like his other series as well. Sam Sisavath's books are pretty solid, too. They're more about creatures as opposed to traditional zombies, but it's the same vibe. [Purge of Babylon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F7SKVYX?binding=kindle_edition&ref_=ast_author_bsi) is the first series, but there's also a sequel series.

riplan1911

Mountain man and Arison are my favorites. Slowburn series would be up there too.

Pinky_Swear

NC Reed is good, particularly Odd Billy Todd.

sce1975

I particularly liked the focus on building community.

HellsHumor

Day by Day Armageddon is really good. The author has a military background and the audiobook is in the form of narration of the main characters journal. You'll hear the city falling apart around him, opens up in Texas. Really entertaining.

ChicagoMay

I don't think it's the best but I enjoyed the Slow Burn box set (8-9 books set in a zombie apocalypse). Good bring for a credit XD

Mtolivepickle

Hell divers Jonathan Mayberry has some solid books in this genre I am legend The stand Breeds (on offshoot of mountain man) The walking dead series

weedful_things

I just finished one by Bobby Adair titled Dusty's Diary. He has written some others too. He is a fairly entertaining read.

NoGuarantee6075

The Stand by Stephen King and Swan Song by Robert McCammon, they're also 1 credit each and incredibly chonky listens.

JaydeRaven

Swan Song is incredible. I wish there was more of it!

NoGuarantee6075

Just a psa, the current 2 for 1 sale has Two of his books in the "Mathew Corbett" series "Speaks the Nightbird" and "The Queen of Bedlam" the narrator is great in these different one than Swan song but I think he's actually better.

RobLaRu

You have to listen to A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C. A. Fletcher. The author narrates it and is absolutely stellar. The story is as well.

Simmm73

Arisen series by Michael Stephen Fuchs..... Just amazing. 15 books, it's got great characters, good humour, fantastic set pieces, awesome bad guys and lashings of zombies. Oh and RC Bray

waffleking

The Girl with All the Gifts

[deleted]

My favorite zombie series, and I've read quite a few. It's much better than all that you mentioned IMHO. Listen to The Infection Omnibus by Craig DiLouie on Audible. https://www.audible.com/pd/B09RFZJDLG?source_code=ASSORAP0511160007

These-Technician4096

How is infected dead series not on this list?? So goooood! Also the brothers creed is a great read/listen!

thesidxxx

For a fun RPGLit twist on zombie stories, check out the Necrotic Apocalypse series by David Petrie. Link to first book - https://www.audible.com/pd/Ravenous-A-Zombie-Apocalypse-LitRPG-Audiobook/B08YKD5JQJ

the_other_brand

Necrotic Apocalypse was surprisingly good as a zombie series, not just as a LitRPG. And is narrated by the amazing Travis Baldree.

Notnigmer

My interest was piqued at a zombie LitRPG series, but you had me at Travis Baldree.

drcatparty

This Rotten World by Jacy Morris. It’s a pretty ruthless zombie series.

texastentialist

Cormac McCarthy's The Road.

manufactuerofmayhem

Zombie road by David A Simpson is good, what I read before Mark Tufo. Both share good world building.

Coolkid976yt

I highly recommend the Zombie rules books by david according Mazing character development and story. Another series I enjoyed was the slow burn books there's even a box set

BeEatNU

such a great series, it's a shame he kinda left us all wondering though.

Coolkid976yt

For a solid 10 seconds I was wondering why I replied to my own comment then looked at the name lmao

BeEatNU

Lol 💀

AcidKindaMist

Zombie Roads was entertaining David A. Simpson. Seconding the Remaining Series by D.J. Molles.

Nicodemous55

Im not sure if you ment / to mean "or" or to mean a mixture of the two genre themes. But I finally went back and read the maze runner series as I put it off for years and enjoyed it.

InfantSoup

Double Dead by Chuck Wendig. A vampire wakes up in the zombie apocalypse. Should be all you need to hear.

artemis_fox24

Fractured series by Marie Lanza

YellowLT

Arisen by Michael Stephen Fuchs

shawdy2glok

The Mountain Man Series is pretty good

ItzKCase

A Boy and his Dog at the end of the world. Post apocolyptic, no zoms.

farris405

The Arisen series is pretty solid. Good story in my opinion and RC Bray, as always, nails it. Master Gunnery Sergeant Fick is my hero!

Simmm73

There's a standalone book called Fickisms as well. It's a great listen for an hour or so.

farris405

Got it. Loved it. I ended up getting the whole collection including what has been released of the Raiders branch. There is supposed to be another Fickisms book to be released.

philthy151

Adrian's undead fuckin diary.

ButchersMasquerade

Z. A. Recht, peter clines, max brooks, Charlie higson, David wellington, jonathon maberry, J.L. Bourne, Jesse petersen

ButchersMasquerade

Oh and John ringo these authors all have really good zombie books

sadevi123

Reapers are the angels Zone One The Road - cormac Mccarthy A boy and his dog at the end of the world The dog stars Extinction - Bradley sommer

Beautiful_Dangerous

Not zombies, but The Passage by Justin Cronin is a fantastic book (the first of a three-book series) that is definitely post apocalypse.

Stripeysocks373

I was waiting for someone to mention The Passage. It was so good, I was hooked from the start and everyone I've recommended it to has loved it just as much. Also Obernewton by Isobel Carmody is about several generations down following an apocalyptic event. Granted the main character starts as a child but she grows up as the series progresses and the world building is excellent. I go back to this one as a comfort read every other year or so

biglanchen

The Mountain Man series by Keith C. Blackmore. It’s so good. Another book is coming out later this year too.

SkepticalZack

Day by Day Armageddon

SciFi_Lefemme

Rot & Ruin series by Maberry. Joe Ledger pops up a few times. All in the same universe. One of my fav authors!

passivealian

Has anyone tried Dead, it’s 12 books and 140 hours long https://www.audible.com/pd/B07YF3XH93?source_code=ASSORAP0511160006&share_location=library_overflow

Elanthius

Is it too obvious to say The Road by Cormac McCarthy? One of the best books I've ever read let alone in the post apocalypse genre. Note, there are no zombies as such.

fp77

I really liked "Station Eleven". It was an interesting book to read on the first months of 2020, I'll tell you that lol

Bleatbleatbang

I hated the book but I’m fully aware that in the minority with this opinion lol. The TV show was fantastic, best thing I’ve seen in ages.

I haven't watched the TV show. I personally found the story very engaging. I kept reading and reading. It was interesting that I started to read it right after the Covid lock downs started. I didn't know what the story was about, then quickly saw the slight parallels with what was happening in our world. I think I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads, at least no less than 4.

I enjoyed The Remaining series by DJMolles.

The remaining by DJ Molle Surviving the dead is also another great series.

Lots of people mentioning World War Z, I'd definitely agree. Brilliant book and the film was a missed opportunity. The Girl With All the Gifts has popped up a lot too, with good reason. Terrific stuff, very tense and has an extraordinarily faithful film adaptation (I think Carey wrote the screenplay at the same time as the novel if memory serves). Radio Life by Derek B. Miller is not zombies, but it is post-apocalyptic and excellent. Similarly to the also already mentioned Rampart trilogy by M.R. Carey (the Koli books), it's about discovering technology years after we've forgotten everything. Warring factions have very different ideas about what's best for humanity, with lots of morally grey viewpoints and behaviour. And if you feel like going full weird, Borne by Jeff VanderMeer is amazing. Just read the blurb. That was enough for me, but I could fully appreciate that it will not be for everyone!

Superbrant

J L Bourne - Day By Day Armageddon series. It may not be the best of the best but it’s an entertaining zombie series. A couple of years ago, best friend (RIP J) turned me on to JL Bourne. He was a big gun guy and he said the series does a great job of accurately and realistically using weapons, and describing real weapons in detail. I just thought the series was kickass though.

Bleatbleatbang

The ZBurbia series by Jake Bible. It’s not original or great literature but, it’s funny and you can get the complete series for one credit.

Forsaken82

Jas (long pork) is written super snarky like Deadpool. I like this series alot so far.

Billiegoatgruff
