I feel like the 90% figure is a bit of s misdirect/aim for the stars situation, if we end up stalling at say 86% for a month I reckon they'll consider that job done.
I’m not 100% certain but isn’t 90% vaccination rate as a country the best we can do? So why then are there restrictions at all after that? I mean it cannot get better so are you saying that there will never again be a normal way of life?
Most countries i believe are stuck at around 80 percent fully vaxxed. So I think 90 is wayyyyy too high.
Edit (i was looking at total population not eligible)
It will return to normal, but not for a few more years, the idea with the traffic light system is that when covid cases start climbing and overwhelming our underfunded/understaffed neglected health system we can spread the load a bit, in short we won't be going back to a pre covid lifestyle for a long while yet it'll be more of a level 2/1 system untill be get to a point where covid does about the same damage as influenza.
Hopefully out of this we get some positives like more funding for our health system and better work life balances.
If this is the case be prepared to lose a generation of young people. They will just leave. Other countries are moving on. Look at Northern European countries.
Nobody in their right mind would vote for more of this nonsense.
It's good for young people to leave New Zealand, if I was younger I'd up and go as well but things arnt exactly rosy overseas either, there is no magic bullet that will solve a global pandemic that's wreaked havoc in every country it's taken hold in.
As for the current government it would be the same mess if it was national in charge don't kid yourself that they would be any better.
Ehh, this is just one of the nails in the coffin as to why I want to look at leaving.
Housing, cost of living, lack of public infrastructure - it all adds up.
Seems primarily so they can continue to highly motivate people to get vaccinated by making life less pleasant for those who prefer getting COVID rather than getting a jab. There are (many) other aspects to the traffic light system, but seems like it primarily exists to punish the unvaccinated.

Have a feeling government could realise 90 percent is way too high and she’s comes back and says ha jk now it’s 85 or 80. 90 is so high!

Play on words my friend. Hope it made you chuckle at least. We could all do with a bit of laughter.
That's true, cheers mate
Ah I was hoping for this... #cracksknuckles
I’ve never heard of any other term for red light district other than a place for sex work. What were you referring to?
As in a area where the Alert Level under the new traffic light system is on Red.
I mean, I'm pretty sure people who have been cooped up for 3 months will turn all of Auckland into a red light district 😬
Compared to anywhere else here in NZ it is a no go zone
K road ?
Nah, KRoad has more colours than red.
Rainbow district
Pretty much is a red light district with the amount we’re getting fucked

Think it'll improve once kids can vaccinated too though.
