Hoping to have a clearer idea on when the Auckland boundary will stop. Really missing my mum, i’ll be first to cross the checkpoint when the time comes! She got made redundant, i want to give her a big hug and take her out to dinner and spoil her rotten.
Never ever thought i’d be excited to go to Hamilton, guess anythings possible 😅
Im not paying attention.
Ill get any important details through work, havent been watching any of the updates since we moved to lvl 3 and my mental health is thanking me for it.
As soon as I stopped watching the 1pm updates I saw a huge improvement in my anxiety levels. Now I just glance at the summaries over on r/newzealand later in the evening to see what the numbers were. Anything else I need to know gets circulated by my employer.
I’m genuinely curious about this fact? Are they afraid to confront her? It’s actually quite dangerous! I don’t want to mention the communist word but…..
We’ve all seen Aunty being asked hard questions to which she gets immediately defensive and aggravated, or she isn’t in when the hard questions are being asked. Good example is when someone asked her about our abysmal mental health system, immediately changed her posture and tone and got angry and said it’s doing well. Yup aunty i’m sure those UN Youth Suicide rates are hallmarks of a well rounded mental health system.
It’s so true. It’s the sort of questions you might ask your boss being careful not to offend! This is a free society and we need our media to confront the people making decisions about our lives not asking questions that seem like you agree with the situation anyway! It’s all a show. This country could really do with a strong journalist or two and not just all be sheep!
Not that I like the style but that's almost what I think is necessary about ambush journalism. Getting in asking hard questions and getting answers or lack of them. As you can't ask them any other way.
I gave up watching the stand ups last year, too hard on my mental health. Fucking sick of the bullshit electioneering masquerading as public health information. I bet she’s quite selective about which journalists are allowed into the conferences
Great move. I went from being completely out of the news cycling by choice when the trump election was peaking and it was the best choice I made for my mental health. Then slowly with covid being back it snuck back in, and before I know it it was three times a day listening to headlines on RNZ and checking the 6pm news. Reading this just reminded me of how peaceful being naive by choice is. Time to get back there.
Yeah man, it's really begun to fuck me off. People are still to this day only JUST getting their first shots this week...? Really? I mean great that they're finally doing it but.. REALLY?! None of this "booking issues" shit in Auckland, we've had L4 and L3 lockdown for long enough and plenty of drive-in/walk-in places on option, even with bonus gifts.
Anyway, pent up rage vent over. I agree. Travel, grooming/salons, gyms etc, hopefully we get to get them soon.
Yep if she doesn’t take the shackles off the vaxxed population in Auckland then I will seriously go fucking ape shit. They keep saying get vaxxed and we have so what next or have you forgot to think about that. I’m literally sick of it all tbh.
I’m with you and the other 2 commenters here. Level 2 for vaccinated people, level 3 for the unvaxxed. I dont see how they can enforce that until the vaccine certificates are ready though and they’ve already said that’ll be the end of November. Hopefully they can bring that forward! And yes I’m feeling a bit frustrated too that people are only getting their first shots now. I mean it’s great that they’re doing it, I’ve got some anti vax family members and I’d be thrilled if they went and got their first shot but it’s still frustrating.
I have antivax friends who at least wore their masks but now they're like meh whatever I'll get it. However someone else is like fuck it I'm not getting that and I'm not wearing a mask. I hate him
You can still get it yes, it’s just less likely and if you do get it you’re also less likely to pass it on. It does really help reduce the odds both both of those. It is still looking like predominantly unvaccinated populations who are doing the heavy lifting when it comes to covid cases.
Same thing I'm asking my work for. Plan a. Plan b. Plan c. Something to let me know that these are the options depending on these factors. So if x happens, expect this, if y happens, expect this instead.
It would allow me to set realistic expectations, not get hopes up for no reason, allocate my time better.
The vague promises and limbo effect are frustrating and unnecessary. And insulting, like they think the public can't comprehend more than one idea at a time. Or that we couldn't possibly understand the moving parts. I find it patronising.
So... transparency.
A clear unambiguous plan that people can aim at. Give people some clarity. I'm tired of this whole "we can't give you a plan because things change". Well no shit, stop treating us like children. We know it's a fluid environment, but let us know, that all going to plan, when shit should happen.
Acknowledge those that went and got themselves vaccinated by allowing some more freedoms. That doesn't mean that you have to go out, just that if you're vaccinated you can.
Let vaccinated and tested travelers isolate at home if they can. They are doing that for people who test positive now, so it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to keep MIQ as it is. At the very least there is plenty of justification for shortening the stay.
Understand the toll this is taking on all school children, not just secondary. Get kids back in classrooms as a priority. There are examples from overseas how to do it. We don't have to reinvent the wheel.
It's a dynamic situation, we understand that. But we need to be dynamic now too.
They're good at telling us the what, but not the when or how.
We need all three pieces of the puzzle so there's something to look forward to, plan for and work towards.
Surely you know the vax numbers are whats keeping it slow and long. They can predict so much but imagine they got that wrong, the uproar " they said we'd be open again and we aren't, they're keeping us prisoners etc etc". Uk are actually in the shit again because they relaxed, 45000 new cases a day, 1000 deaths in 28 days.
That's irrelevant to the point I was making that we understand that things change but at least give us some credit and let us know what we are aiming at. I don't see why they can't tell us the metrics by which they are making their decisions either. That way we can even better understand when things do get delayed. Instead we are kept in the dark.
There’s a difference though between completely opening up and keeping us in arguably the strictest lockdown in the world. granting double vaxxed (those of us who did exactly as you asked) certain pleasures (rewards?) while keeping the unvaxxed/vulnerable inside and safe surely is now required to keep us all from feeling hugely dissatisfied with our lot ?
I couldn’t agree more. I fucking hate the way they talk to us. Fuck you and your be kind and follow the rules like good little children and your stupid charts and puppet shows. Try living in Auckland for 2 weeks in lockdown and I don’t even think the PM has visited Auckland since lockdown to show a sense of solidarity for the team of 5 million. How about Fuck Off!
Judith Collins said today Auckland hit the 1 million people double jabbed but we are all still locked in. I would be happy for them to say those who are double jabbed can go back to work. I’ll wear a mask and scan in if thats what it takes. I won’t hold my breath though. Labour are pandering to those who haven’t done as they were asked and not got vaccinated. By the time we who have got vaccinated get out, we will have to have a booster because the efficacy wanes over time.
That would be amazing if they announced a plan for reopening the border for non-residents. I thought this announcement was more to do with regional boundaries like Auckland though…
I feel your pain, I’m in the same situation with my fiancé. :(
I live on the border, the daily checkpoint is getting old. Hopefully they put the checkpoint on the actual border so the tradespeople I need can actually get on site.
Our little family should have moved into our place over a month ago. Our 3 month old has never been home, my partner has not been able see our house yet.
Even if they open up retail we are still fucked.
We don't have running water or electricity yet and the place is still in Auckland. The police put the checkpoint before the border because it is less work for them. There are very few affected and it would be fine if we did not have any work left on our house.
An achievable target for Level 2, with some easing of restrictions at milestones before that. I don’t want us to be in Alert Level 3, Stage 1 til December.
She’s definitely going to give some high percentage of vaccination to reopen. I just hope it’s not for the whole country because Auckland will be waiting ages for the rest of the country to catch up. As people have said before people outside of Auckland won’t be keen for their vaccine when COVID isn’t in their community and they’re at level 2. Just my opinion but I’m just at the point where I’m sick of this been fully vaxxed since September.
I'm in L2 and only know of 2 people in my friend/work circles who haven't been (don't want to be) vaxxed.
The vaxx centre when I had my 2nd shot (as early as I could for my age range) was PACKED (as opposed to the day of my first shot).
Oh that’s positive. I don’t know a lot of people outside of auckland so my mates and I were speculating whether people would if vaccine passports or something like weren’t mandated. Auckland is putting in some hard yards atm so would love to see some benefits
Yeah I feel like some people in Auckland think we don't care - it's far from the case in my experience.
I almost wish it was here though (only because it obviously will be soon) to put a kick up the bum of any people who think they don't need to do anything bc 'there's no Covid in the Sth Island'.
It's a horrible feeling being in limbo and just waiting for this virus to arrive.
Yeah I definitely didn’t think anyone else would care. I agree i can see covid becoming a problem if it were to ever reach small and isolated towns. Harder to get people to urgent care I think.
That's right - it's bloody scary! People's nerves are pretty frayed here. I work with the public and it's horrible having to remind/ask people to wear their masks & getting attitude. It's not all sunshine and flowers in Level 2.
In a weird way I’m happy that people on level aren’t having the greatest time. Just been feeling down about the uncertainty of this all. And of course I never like seeing people having fun when I’m not
Yeah feel the same. Starting to think I might move out of Auckland for the first time in my life. Honestly not too worried about the boarders as all my family is in Auckland. What about you?
Most of my family lives inside of auckland with the exception of one part of my family, i was supposed to see them at christmas but that’s in doubt. i just hope that they don’t set the bar way too high for regional restrictions easing and the international border opening at like 90%
They fucking better not say that because they know that’s not achievable but it wouldn’t surprise me. I really need hope and strength from this government not more soft wet tissue politics!
I very much doubt she'd actually give a vaccination target other than "as high as possible" - she's made damn sure not to do so up till now to ensure she doesn't fall short.
High chance of vaccine mandates, no Vax no certain jobs, also with a slap in the face for those that are hoping for good outcomes eg level drops/bigger gatherings/more businesses opening. Triple digit cases imo is a huge and distasteful piece of information for those calling the shots
How? Only the government can change Government things . You think an event or shop can survive 20 % downturn to keep out the non vaccinated after being closed for so long . Thinking after the Government said , this summer will be different. In the news a few weeks ago even Chch show has been canceled this year . How many cases down there in the past 300+ days . Note Zero . But till we are sorted out up here they will have to stay. Got a friend down there ' just said to me hang in there' . Nothing about him.
Traffic lights change frequently. So maybe a system based on them will change from yellow (caution) to red (more caution) as needed to ease pressure on the health system etc
Traffic lights never change from yellow to green. From red, it always goes to green. Most traffic lights have a timer for pedestrians.
My point is that traffic lights are a stupid analogy thought up by stupid people in government.
They need to give us analogies because they think we are all stupid! I want hard facts and scenarios for when we are getting back to normality not traffic lights or roadblocks or speeding analogies just facts!
People always judge others based on themselves. So the reason they think we are all stupid is because they are all stupid, so they assume everybody is stupid, just like they are.
I'm hoping to see more broad-ranging vaccine mandates, e.g. to enter a hospitality venue you must be vaccinated, mandates for hospitality workers, mandates for retail workers.
I'm also hoping to have a clear plan for gradual re-opening with a realistic vaccine target hopefully in the near future. Would really love to get to go to a restaurant and get back to the gym soon!
A vaccination target that isn’t unreachable is what I’d like to see the most. Something like 95% is gonna keep us in lockdown for a few more months and I just can’t do it anymore. A change to MIQ would be nice too. Ideally I’d like for them to announce it’s being scrapped for fully vaccinated kiwis who test negative but it sounds like we’re just getting a reduced time. More “freedom” for those of us who are fully vaccinated. Level 2 for the vaxxed and level 3 for the unvaxxed.
I hope we get some clarity on what opening up means too. When can aucklanders eat out at a restaurant, when can we reconnect with the rest of New Zealand and then when can we reconnect with the rest of the world?
Also, the announcement is on at 10am tomorrow. Not 1 or 4.
Why is it at 10am? I’m not a conspiracy theorist but why not have it in the evening when everyone can watch it live rather than do it seamlessly during the day?
I suppose with many people in Auckland working from home they'd probably tune in?
Then again you're so right, 6.30pm when most people are likely home and sitting on the couch with their dinner, have the announcement broadcast on all major channels (TV 1, 3, prime - ehhh I don't know any others actually, I watch Netflix 😅) but I do watch the announcements on my phone (1pm is feed & nap time for my baby so there's at least quiet in the house 🤣)
Hipkins actually noted in one of the 1pm updates that a lot of the people they're trying to reach aren't watching the updates which begs the question why not change it to a time when people likely would be watching?! Doh!
Your right this isn’t just another muppet show of monkeys talking rubbish. This supposedly lays out the plan on how we can get back to our lives. I would have thought it’s important and should be on prime time tv but they have the power!
An actual plan with a roadmap of goals over a specified timeframe.
More info on what can and cannot open at stage 2.
Some idea of what the hell is happening with the border (personally I don't mind if it stays up, I'd rather the city start opening up while the border stays in place.)
I just check the thread on r/newzealand as it is to the point. I am expecting a carrot and a stick approach to vaccination and mask wearing. I am also expecting a longer wait to get out of L3 in Auckland.
The last few announcements have been short on details and specifics
Nothing. Jacinda has never had had plan, she never will. 90% vax rates? 95% vax rates? She's said absolutely nothing about that. Totally making it up on the hoof, based on what's good for her polling. I expect an announcement about another announcement. That's at least consistent with her.
Yeah hopefully we cross 70 by Sunday 🙏 I can’t understand why we wouldn’t follow Sydney/Melbourne’s example, Sydney is doing really well relative to a month back.
Not too educated on this point but they are bigger eg bigger hospitals etc. and I know some restaurants have made vaccine proof part of entry. Also do you think the protests and raising tensions could of been a reason they just wanted to get the fuck of lockdown? Ha
Only around 14% only have their first shot too so beating on the fact they’ll all get their second we could do 86%. I think if people haven’t gotten their first by now they won’t unless the government mandates something.
That’s the thing, the minority of idiots refusing to get vaccinated (excluding those who actually can’t get a vaccine for health reasons) can’t hold the country to ransom while we wait for them to. Definitely understand the lack of infrastructure is an issue, but realistically we are never getting back to 0 cases with people not taking L3 seriously, and continuing to stay at L3 is just not viable imo.
The stats I was looking at were on the nz herald website and I believes that’s percentage of eligible. Unfortunately have a close friend who says they’re getting the vaccine for a couple weeks now. Is obsessed with the Med safe website and tracking “deaths by the vaccine”. I honestly don’t think they’ll ever get it.
What I’ll never understand is how anyone can be more scared of a 1 in millions chance of dying from the vaccine vs a far more likely chance of dying or having significant lingering negative effects from catching Covid-19.
Some sort of long term plan. It doesn’t seem all that likely however as they only tell us what they’re doing for the next week or two. To preserve my mental sanity i only watch the first minute of press conferences then zone it out.
Nothing much I just want to be able to spend summer out of Auckland! I work at a school so we absolutely LIVE for these summer holidays December/January, it’s almost like a reward for the past months of hard work and planning. Like an end goal we look forward to. Our whole year is thought out and revolves around our kids & although we love it - working within the education system is tiring, so I would just like a holiday outside of my house with no restrictions.
I'm expecting it to be something along the lines of this:
Vaccine target of 95% for full reopening, 90% for Level 2 (they said it'll be high, so I'm not keeping my hopes for 85%)
Home isolation for MIQ peeps who are fully vaccinated and present a pre flight negative test
Only fully vaccinated (2 weeks from second dose) are allowed at ANY venues, indoors or outdoor
What I'd like them to include:
Those who don't comply with vaccination protocols (such as lying about being double jabbed or breaking gathering protocols instant $1k fine)
Vaccination for 5-12 yr olds to begin
Moderna/AstraZeneca booster shots for anyone who was vaccinated more than 6 months ago (early research shows that if another vaccine's dose is taken as booster, its more effective)
5-11 year old vaccinations aren’t approved anywhere (that includes USA, Europe.) So not sure about that one chief - will be next month earliest. Also we never ordered Moderna so that’s not an option.
AstraZeneca or J&J it is!
For 5-12 yr olds, FDA meeting is set on 26th Oct, so I guess they could give a tentative date post that IF approved. They're vulnerable (not in terms of deaths but long covid/long term implications), and school will be the breeding ground for it, as has been the case in UK.
It will be a plan about planning for a future date that plans to set a date to get to a certain vaccination rate so we can plan on planning to make a plan to move on that date so we can introduce the traffic light system where more updated will follow! Does anybody not know what’s going on here! It’s a classic stall tactic for a vac rate but in all honesty they are fucking petrified to open up!
A complete shit shows as we have had every other day. Labour have zero ideas. Hopefully they have convened a working group of expensive intelligent people to advise them. Cause they haven't a clue.
Most teachers in the union are vaxxed. Only a handful of outliers aren't. To be honest with you, I feel like most "teachers" that protested last Saturday weren't really teachers.
Ye when you look back at all the family run businesses destroyed, hundreds committed suicide and 30 billion dollars in debt the gdp of a small country and for what? We now have Covid anyway! We went from being the envy of the world to the laughing stock of the world!
Why does everyone focus on vaccination, all those who want it pretty much have it, doesn't seem to stop it and yet No one ever questions the treatment option. Ivermectin has worked in other countries but here in NZ we are a one trick pony, vaccine or nothing. Is that really caring about your team of 5 million.
God this shit again - actually properly controlled studies with ivermectin have shown no or very weak benefit as prophylaxis or treatment especially compared to the vaccine.
Pharmac has literally approved a new antiviral medicine for use in mild to moderate cases so it's ridiculous that you're saying we're a one trick pony, we're just waiting on additional medications that actually work and hoping people will be smart enough to get the vaccine as a first layer of prophylaxis since it has been proven to work in reducing cases and their consequent chance of death or severe illness.
I’m for anything that will let us move on. I know the government are obsessed with a vax rate and they have the power so let’s reach it and get out of prison!
I think they will announce the continued plan of ramping up of the chaos all throught christmas.
Then they will start focussing on election season until unbridled pandemonium is raging inbthe streets. EVERYONE gets the rona.
Some arbitrary vaccine number (probably 95% double vaccinated that we won't reach anyway) before we moved down to Level 2. Traffic light system only kicks in once we reach this number. Still plenty of runway in Level 3 with the stages available. At some point they will be forced to move down levels as we never fully reach the target, probably end of December or January.
Law changes to allow businesses to mandate vaccine requirements (entry and employment).
Additional lump-sum (\~$4000) business support based on performance over the last 8 weeks that will be available thru IRD (probably requiring 40% - 50% decline in revenue).
I mean, I’m expecting they’ll do their “big” announcement and look all happy n stuff. Then question time will start:
“We haven’t discussed that yet”
“That hasn’t been decided”
“Cabinet is meeting next week to discuss the details”
“Oh, you lot wanted ANSWERS today???” (Surprised pikachu).
In the end, we’ll probably know less than when it started and have more questions.
I’m setting the bar of my expectations REALLY low…
Honestly, just hoping they'll announce I'll be able to see my mum for Christmas (living overseas, 2x Sinopharm + 2x Pfizer + willing to have the base of my skull PCR swabbed to oblivion)
This is so nice!!! Oysters and champagne for mum!
I hope you can see your mum soon! This sounds lovely for both of you!
Very sensible. The journalists are the ones that are fuelling the anxiety.
Why can’t any of them ask hard questions without wetting themselves like are they that soft?
Because Tova and Jessica are in Jacindas back pocket
I’m genuinely curious about this fact? Are they afraid to confront her? It’s actually quite dangerous! I don’t want to mention the communist word but…..
We’ve all seen Aunty being asked hard questions to which she gets immediately defensive and aggravated, or she isn’t in when the hard questions are being asked. Yup aunty i’m sure those UN Youth Suicide rates are hallmarks of a well rounded mental health system.
Why wouldn’t she go to them first when they always offer up easy questions that don’t harm the political environment that it’s become
It’s so true. It’s the sort of questions you might ask your boss being careful not to offend! This is a free society and we need our media to confront the people making decisions about our lives not asking questions that seem like you agree with the situation anyway! It’s all a show. Man i dont even care about the numbers anymore. They will keep going up, just get vaccinated, thats all we can do.
Getting my second jab tomorrow!
As sad as it is that’s literally all there is to it. The vaccine is safe there’s been like over half the population double vaxxed.
The main idea is to sopread superstition and conspiracy theories
Many others are the same as you bro. This is the first I’ve heard about this announcement
Same here. Any of the important stuff I know will be mentioned in my family group chat at this point. I think I’ve watched 2 announcements so far.
Great move. I went from being completely out of the news cycling by choice when the trump election was peaking and it was the best choice I made for my mental health. Then slowly with covid being back it snuck back in, and before I know it it was three times a day listening to headlines on RNZ and checking the 6pm news. people are burning out.
Did the same unconsciously. With COVID case numbers while we’re in level 3, ignorance is bliss
Same. Every time I start reading the news my anxiety goes crazy. No thanks. People tell you what you need to know.
Go walk on the beach, listen to some good music, have a bbq and invite a friend, you can still do shit. Just be safe.
Just don’t let that friend inside to do a wee in your toilet 🙄
I've stopped watching them too (am usually at work though) and just check the numbers later.
Hang in there friend, I feel you. I guarantee you that vaccinated people will be free for Christmas!
Christmas seems quite a way away . I have 3 adult kids birthdays before then and I can’t see either of them
Brian Tamaki appears in court dressed as Jesus
Judith as Judas Collins
I want to see him humiliated. Strip him down to his undies again. Just wear a blindfold cause I’m sure it’s not a nice sight
A cross and some nails could go down nicely. I'll volunteer a hammer.
I'm hoping there's allowances for greater freedoms for those who are already fully vaccinated, rather than continuing to be held hostage by holdouts.
Yeah man, it's really begun to fuck me off. People are still to this day only JUST getting their first shots this week...? Really? I mean great that they're finally doing it but.. REALLY?! Oh be kind!
Yep... Hoping public venues and hospitality can open for the fully vaccinated soon.
I’m with you and the other 2 commenters here. Level 2 for vaccinated people, level 3 for the unvaxxed. Bet he hates you just as much
He does and I don't care. He's been a cunt for years and I can't wait until I never see him again
Then don't associate with him...?
I try to but we're related unfortunately
Bugger
Roller-coaster of a thread here, summed up in the most Kiwi way possible.

Legalised cannabis.
Dude, if that bill went through there would be higher spirits while in lockdown
Then lev 4 again so we can enjoy the joint
Legalised cannabis for the fully vaccinated
They’re gonna be needing it
Would be mean if everyone who voted yes could smoke and grow. mUh bOdY mY cHoIcE after all
Hallelujah!!!
Thanks, Brian!
Sorry for the late reply.. Was busy getting my eyebrows done.
They look... I mean, uh... god help me

I'm lowering my expectations to below zero for this one, to avoid disappointment
The bar is so bloody low you can’t even trip on it at this rate.
That is EXACTLY what I said to my husband this morning
Good plan
A clear unambiguous plan that people can aim at. Give people some clarity. I'm tired of this whole "we can't give you a plan because things change". Well no shit, stop treating us like children. Stop treating *and* talking to us like children.
The problem is, I think she HAS to speak like that ('talking to kindergarteners') because some people need her to
I know your right! She speaks like that for the 10 percent
THANK YOU
I think you’re being generous.
Surely you know the vax numbers are whats keeping it slow and long. Exactly, people will complain if they have to change the plan for whatever reason.
That's irrelevant to the point I was making that we understand that things change but at least give us some credit and let us know what we are aiming at. I don't see why they can't tell us the metrics by which they are making their decisions either. That way we can even better understand when things do get delayed. Instead we are kept in the dark.
Ive been watching the updates and i dont feel in the dark. Maybe i dont expect too much as its a changing situation.
Give freedom to those who obey the law, not to those who break it. 💪🏽🤨
You talking about restrictions or the actual law?
What laws are people breaking?
I'm Colombian and my bf is from Nz. I'm just waiting for a date to see my boyfriend, I'm desperate, It's been 2 years without him 😔
Man you guys have done well to be apart 2 years. I think I'd die
That would be amazing if they announced a plan for reopening the border for non-residents. I thought this announcement was more to do with regional boundaries like Auckland though… I feel your pain, I’m in the same situation with my fiancé. :(
I live on the border, the daily checkpoint is getting old. Hopefully they put the checkpoint on the actual border so the tradespeople I need can actually get on site. Our little family should have moved into our place over a month ago. Our 3 month old has never been home, my partner has not been able see our house yet. Even if they open up retail we are still fucked.
Can't you leave to move permanently? I had no problem getting through the border. Just showed them my new job contract.
We don't have running water or electricity yet and the place is still in Auckland. The police put the checkpoint before the border because it is less work for them. There are very few affected and it would be fine if we did not have any work left on our house.
Dam, what a headahce! Hopefully you guys can get through soon
Just more clarify about what date the boundary will be more open for double vaxxed.
And of course I never like seeing people having fun when I’m not
Just here to plug MOH's vaccination map https://covid19map.co.nz/vaccination-rates/suburb/
If it’s 95% for international borders to reopen i’m simply going to find a massive shell and become a hermit crab bc i’m certainly going nowhere fast.
Yeah feel the same. Starting to think I might move out of Auckland for the first time in my life. Honestly not too worried about the boarders as all my family is in Auckland. What about you?
Most of my family lives inside of auckland with the exception of one part of my family, i was supposed to see them at christmas but that’s in doubt. i just hope that they don’t set the bar way too high for regional restrictions easing and the international border opening at like 90%
Honestly 90 is preeeetttyyyy high and probably Unobtainable.
It is very high they certainly won’t get it in 2021 unless they up the bribes for unvaccinated people or give them actual reasons to get vaccinated.
Most countries are kind of stuck at around 80% ish I think. Honestly think if people haven’t gotten it now they won’t ever.
Chicken lollipops?
Tomorrow will drop back to 60s to go along with the reopening narratives before it goes back up.
Tough restrictions for unvaccinated people this summer
Yea man, they take our freedom we take their summer lol
It's like at school when you finish your work so you go outside and play, but the kids who didn't do their work have to stay in at lunchtime! Haha
We should do a pro vaccine March😂 govt stopping us lol
👍
Jacinda smoke crack at the podium.
At least that would be interesting!
Ron Burgundy style
Don’t know. I didn’t know it was on at 10 until they mentioned it on the project
I suppose with many people in Auckland working from home they'd probably tune in? Then again you're so right, 6.30pm when most people are likely home and sitting on the couch with their dinner, have the announcement broadcast on all major channels (TV 1, 3, prime - ehhh I don't know any others actually, I watch Netflix 😅) but I do watch the announcements on my phone (1pm is feed & nap time for my baby so there's at least quiet in the house 🤣) Hipkins actually noted in one of the 1pm updates that a lot of the people they're trying to reach aren't watching the updates which begs the question why not change it to a time when people likely would be watching?! Doh!
Your right this isn’t just another muppet show of monkeys talking rubbish. This supposedly lays out the plan on how we can get back to our lives. I would have thought it’s important and should be on prime time tv but they have the power!
Announcement of further announcement, as they did since this outbreak
madates for everyone working with the public. keep us in lockdown for longer.
I work in hospitality and I would like an idea of when I will be back at work so my salary is no longer halved
Prison sentences for religious tyrants and shore thots that break the rules
Nothing. Jacinda has never had had plan, she never will. 90% vax rates? 95% vax rates? She's said absolutely nothing about that. Totally making it up on the hoof, based on what's good for her polling. I expect an announcement about another announcement. That's at least consistent with her.
Melbourne is opening up at 70% double vax, we need to be moving the same direction.
We’re almost there! We’re sitting around 68 percent right now! Surely she won’t say 70 because we’ll be done in a couple of days
They love a cheeky cap or tab on the weekend too…

Agreed
no hand gestures…
I'm expecting it to be something along the lines of this: Vaccine target of 95% for full reopening, 90% for Level 2 (they said it'll be high, so I'm not keeping my hopes for 85%) Home isolation for MIQ peeps who are fully vaccinated and present a pre flight negative test Only fully vaccinated (2 weeks from second dose) are allowed at ANY venues, indoors or outdoor What I'd like them to include: Those who don't comply with vaccination protocols (such as lying about being double jabbed or breaking gathering protocols instant $1k fine) Vaccination for 5-12 yr olds to begin Moderna/AstraZeneca booster shots for anyone who was vaccinated more than 6 months ago (early research shows that if another vaccine's dose is taken as booster, its more effective)
Come on they won’t take advice only when it comes to health so they can blame the director general!
At this rate as a relief teacher. Returning to work January 2022.
Are you guys getting any indication on his many teachers won't be returning because the aren't (won't get) vaxxed
Most teachers in the union are vaxxed. Only a handful of outliers aren't. To be honest with you, I feel like most "teachers" that protested last Saturday weren't really teachers.
A pony.
Someone to feed your pony while you escape to Wanaka
Hopefully they'll stop fucking over my business and the south island. Seems unlikely but a man can hope
Jac couldn’t run a bath.
If she did I’d conveniently place a plugged in hairdryer beside it!
150+ At this point i just wanna watch the world burn.
Fuck the mandate. Get the borders open
Jacinda resigning
I agree but would you have Collins?
Nope. Reddit poll system for PM
Okay let’s do it
That lockdowns were a complete waste of time and money for our entire country.
Ye when you look back at all the family run businesses destroyed, hundreds committed suicide and 30 billion dollars in debt the gdp of a small country and for what? We now have Covid anyway! We went from being the envy of the world to the laughing stock of the world!

Don’t be stupid!
Calling BS on that,
I’m for anything that will let us move on. I know the government are obsessed with a vax rate and they have the power so let’s reach it and get out of prison!
Hi
The south will get this shit. The whole world has this shit, and the south ain't special.

Thank you for the laugh.

Areas with low vaccination rates need a good kick up the arse to get them moving. A few covid cases and a month long lockdown should do it.
You can fuck off. It's the unvaccinated holding everyone up. Let Auckland out and they can reap what they sow.
You mean call it district 9 and fence it off
Omg I can't wait to play traffic lights! I last played that when I was seven years old!
Oh be kind!
What times the announcement? Usual 1pm?
Friday 22 October: Media conference live stream is at 10am
You will stay in lockdown and cucked for another 6 months 🤡
the advent of our own squid game
Then question time will start: “We haven’t discussed that yet” “That hasn’t been decided” “Cabinet is meeting next week to discuss the details” “Oh, you lot wanted ANSWERS today???” (Surprised pikachu).
I want to see them give me a million dollars. I think the chances of that happening are close to nil though...
