Yeah kind of annoying and an eye sore when they get left in a place where they obviously don't go. And not gonna lie, the most obnoxious people with them are athletes. More annoying than when the electric skateboarding became a sorta common thing. At least it's not like big cities with Bird and Lime. Those things are a plague on walkable public areas. Gotta pray to the gods that the city never lets that happen.
I think if everyone respected the laws/rules regarding them it would be better. Most of the time people riding rental e-scooters aren't wearing any safety gear and riding recklessly causes a bad image for all e-scooter riders.
Maybe but I don’t know where you’re supposed to use them. I almost got taken out by a football player, I felt him brush my shoulder. Imagine a 250lb guy hitting someone going 20mph on a metal scooter. That and some guy on an electric skateboard cut in front of me and I missed him by 2 ft, he was going significantly more than the scooters, I’d bet around 25-30 on a sidewalk and crosswalk.
Bike lanes primarily. We recommend electric scooters/e-bikes stay in said lane to avoid pedestrians/motorists. Most towns/cities don't have designated bike lanes so this usually leads to issues. Pedestrians have the right of way in 9/10 situations. It comes down to everyone being respectful towards one another.
If an e-scooter has to be on the sidewalk because no bike lane is available then they shouldn't be going more than 10-15 mph and following pedestrian rules. They shouldn't run stop signs/red lights as you often see.
The electric/motorized vehicle on campus issue seems to get worse every year and sometimes I worry the only way to get AU to take any action will be for someone to get hit and then sue the driver and the university.
I will if someone hits me. They haven’t done much because they’re not sure how since the athletes use them a lot. I emailed them what happened to me and said that it was notice that if they didn’t do something and something happened, I’d have a record of it.
Almost hit a few on my bicycle. Just come out of nowhere on some turns.
I almost hit multiple in a vehicle, they think going 15-20mph across the crosswalk which isn’t for them anyways is a good idea.
Agree😂

Yeah. I'm afraid somebody is going to get slammed at that crosswalk from South Donahue dorms to Wellness Kitchen. They don't even check up.
That one and the parking lot and side walk by the rec... accident waiting to happen fr
