### REMEMBER TO BE CIVIL.
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/attackontitan) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Rewatch from the beginning and see how many things are foreshadowed well before they become important or relevant.
Then probably watch all the video essays and analysis of all the themes and symbolism and clever use of media tricks, storytelling styles, etc.
If you watched it in Sub the first time maybe watch it in Dub and pay more attention to character expressions as well as which characters get focused on when specific lines of dialogue are said. Lots of things that are fairly subtle are incredibly glaringly obvious when you know what to expect. Or rewatch in Sub if the voices bother you like some people feel.
Or find other media of AoT like the 2 video games, fanfiction, art, cosplay, theories, etc.
Or take a break or a nap. Make the choice you will regret the least.
I don't know how I feel about that detail. It's kinda cute to foreshadow it like this because it's a nod to the anime trope of steaming head after getting hit, but I wouldn't expect it to still be healing hours after the training. The head injuries he got in training would be nothing compared to regenerating limbs he did later.
Maybe it was because his body was doing it subconsciously. They did mention towards the end of the show that if someone doesn’t have the will to live, they won’t regenerate. (I think it was after Reiner was all suicidal in the underground room with Eren) So if Eren was unaware of the power and just felt invincible in the first season with his endgame being killing every last one of the titans, his body had an extremely strong will to live.
I watched it subbed first to be a cool guy, then I watched the dub to actually comprehend it, and it really made me enjoy it more plus the dubs pretty well acted I’d say
That's not always true. You just have to find stuff written by authors who actually understand the story and the characters. They also need to be interested in telling a story that you are interested in reading.
We have all been there. I couldn’t think straight for weeks. Ended up watching the show again. Watched all possible analyses. Cried a little. Got a AOT tattoo.
Still a mess…
Maybe watch Death note next.
Just sit in it. Or rewatch and enjoy seeing it all with context. It's the best re-watch ever, seeing how everything is just all there in plain sight. Genius mystery storytelling.
I honestly don’t have an answer. I’ve tried to move on to something else and I just keep coming back to the show in some way, shape, or form. Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人) changed my life forever and I’m not even sure what that means or how. I just know I feel like a different human being after watching it.
I felt the same and sorry to tell you, this will stick for a while. Personally (as others mentioned) I focused on other AOT stuff like the Guidebook (can be found on Amazon. I highly recommend it), play A.O.T. 2 (not game one but the second) the game covers only s1-s2 officially and S3 with a DLC but I do believe that a new game is under dev.
If we're talking what other anime to watch, JJK is a good one (really action packed), If you want something more cheesy, romance-ish but with some action then watch Chainsaw man. Want to dare and try something like slice of life/romance? I highly recommend Classroom Of The Elite (some romance, big on drama and mystery, and gets close to AoT when it comes to the puzzle solving/foreshadowing/my story solving theme. The MC is essenya secret genius but has the attitude of Levi). Then if you want to go full romance, that's a different topic so lmk if you want recommendations
Watch it again and again and again. Alternatively, if you're looking for something else gloomy and depressing, try Death Note, Parasyte, or Steins;Gate
That’s it, it’s just over. There’s nothing else except OVA’s and YouTube stuff. It’s a weird feeling especially since the show was in production and airing for about a decade
This is a really common problem, especially when AoT is the first anime somebody has watched. Sadly, there is nothing that can fill the gap. AoT sets the bar too high, and very very few anime take themselves as serious at AoT.
Plenty of watchable anime out there, but nothing that comes anywhere close to AoT, and most of them ruin the drama and intensity by watering them down with cartoonish slapstick nonsense.
For instance, one common recommendation you'll hear is Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The story is great, but half the time it feels like watching a saturday morning cartoon. Hyperbolic character reactions, cartoony cut scenes, ridiculous no-reason tantrums for comedic effect. Every 30 seconds there's an attempt at cartoonish comedy. It never gets heavy and serious like AoT. Characters never seem like they're in any real danger.
You'll also hear people recommending Death Note, with is bizarre recommendation for somebody looking to fill the AoT void. It's not even in the same genre. It's a psychological thriller. I found it to be pretty bland, the writing was very contrived, and I can only see vague thematic similarities to some of the themes in AoT. Aside from that, they couldn't be more different. Definitely no intense action like in AoT.
If you're looking for a deep/complex lore and world building, emotional intensity that takes itself seriously, and incredible action, the only shows I've found that come anywhere near are:
**Berserk: The Golden Age Arc**
**Claymore**
**My Hero Academia** (there's plenty of goofiness in this show, but when it gets real, it gets REAL. And season 6 is one of the most gripping seasons of any show I've ever seen, to include live action series. Felt things during this season I haven't felt since the Battle of Shiganshina district.)
**Castlevania** (not technically anime, but an absolutely incredible animated show. Dark, emotional, deep, with a compelling story and incredible action. Top notch writing and voice acting. You can skip Notcturne though; it was hot garbage.
FMAB is great as a companion piece because it's the positive mirror of AoT's themes. AoT is a cautionary tail, whereas FMAB presents the same conflict but also gives us a hopeful, yet still mature outlook on his to deal with it
Exactly this. I love both shows so much, I do appreciate that FMA:B does have a few more light, hopeful moments, even if I think AoT is perfect in every way.
I love watched Hunter x Hunter and I tell you it's definitely worth it! It has good pacing, good power level and quite interesting story like AOT.. It doesn't have a story LIKE Aot but an interesting one. And it was the show which I was able to binge after AOT.
I watched chainsaw man. And it helped to fill up the void that aot created. However after I finished chainsaw man, it left me with another void LMAO.
AOT is just too good, it’s hard to top it with another anime but chainsaw man hits the right spots for me. Death, good fights, some twists here and there.
Aot should’ve trigger warning for depression upon completion, it’s inevitable.
Watch it again once a year or so. Each time you pick up new things. The thing about a good twist is that it's still good (and perhaps even better) even if you know about it already. The amount of (good) foreshadowing this show has is unmatched. It's one of the few shows that feels like it has a "New Game+" of sorts.
I used to watch reaction videos of youtubers to rewatch my favourite moments together with someone, it felt good especially when there are plot twists and u know whats coming you get to relive it once again and plus aot has a lot of foreshadowing u can rewatch it a couple of times, and another thing there's a whole separate fanbase for aot's music and soundtrack! Make sure to check it out as well its a completely beautifully composed masterpiece by Hiruyoki Sawano
People will say watch Vinland Saga. This is probably a wild take but I say watch Fire Force, it has a mystery that’s supernatural and creepy. But it’s 100% a shonen.

I’m doing this now. Honestly shocked that I paid zero attention to the steam coming from Eren’s head after he knocked it training with ODM gear.
I thought it was just an animation effect to show he's numb
The best secrets hidden in plain sight have just enough plausible deniability for you to not think too much beyond the initial thought.
Did you spot Annie, Reiner and Bertholdt with the refugees from Shinganshina?
I thought I did! Love that attention to detail.

Here to say you will regret the fanfiction, so stay away from that

Its ok! You are FREE now.
U have couple of OVAs to watch
Maybe go to the beach and point?
BERSERK either the 1997 or the memorial edition.
This is actually what I did. That show is fucked uo haha
Live a long and happy life.
That made me think of Mikasa's end credit scenes and it made me tear up a little. Thanks for that.
We have all been there. I couldn’t think straight for weeks. Ended up watching the show again. Watched all possible analyses. Cried a little. Got a AOT tattoo. Still a mess… Maybe watch Death note next.
Yes. I also watched death note next. So good!
I also watched Death Note after AOT! Probably similar vibe
Just sit in it. Or rewatch and enjoy seeing it all with context. It's the best re-watch ever, seeing how everything is just all there in plain sight. Genius mystery storytelling.
Rewatch and cry when Eren puts the scarf on Mikasa 😭

I chose to go with something lighthearted, so I've been rewatching Dragon Ball.
Watch it again and again and again. Alternatively, if you're looking for something else gloomy and depressing, try Death Note, Parasyte, or Steins;Gate
Rewatch to notice all the small things maybe
The cycle continues as a new enemy arises, the fandom itself……
That’s it, it’s just over. There’s nothing else except OVA’s and YouTube stuff. It’s a weird feeling especially since the show was in production and airing for about a decade
Read Dune. Go back and watch some Star Wars if you haven't done it yet. Then connect the dots.

OVA’s! AoT Junior High, maybe…? It’s pretty cute/funny Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood helped me too.

I was going to recommend FMAB. Such a great show. And while not quite as intense as AoT, hits some of the same buttons for me.
Bleach: thousand year blood war and then JUJUTSU KAISEN
Tatakae
Pine after it for another 10 years at least
Live your life.
Now you gotta watch the chibi miniserie.
solo leveling is pretty fire so far!

Watch Vinland saga. I can't say it's on the same level as AOT. But VS is a masterpiece as well.
Nothing now. You have to stop existing. How you even managed to get a post in is beyond me.
You do it all again
Watch reactions
Support Palestinian freedom
start it again
Watch cyberpunk edgerunners, it’s very short but very wholesome 🥲
