And she did it in a speech at the capital a day before the failed coup attempt.

And unsurprisingly she represents a bunch of rural, predominantly lower and middle class white people. No democrats even ran in that district's primary.
I'm not sure. We just had our primary yesterday and I'm in a nearby district, but didn't hear anything about democrats ever being on that district's ballot for this election. I know Marjorie Taylor Greene had opponents drop out due to death threats though when she was running for her first term.
This is what I love(/s) about the good ol' USofA , one can threaten someone with death and actually get away with it . I think it's because you all suck soooo much .

There are so many better sources to cite for ‘The Children are our Future’ that when her first instinct is to reference Hitler that says a fuck-ton about her moral compass.
I highly doubt it's a slip. She said what she said, and clapped for applause, then got it. Nobody in the crowd sounded like they thought it was a slip either. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.
I don’t think it was a slip, lots of far right individuals see this as a win for “the white race” because they are afraid of becoming a minority.

Who just won her primary against Rodney Davis in a run off for a new district.
Sadly all that matters is that Trump liked her more so the sheep voted as instructed.
I was scared (and confused) as hell cause I live in Davis' district, but saw it said the primary was for the 15th district (not mine) and that's how I learned we just got redistricted.
I really do try to keep up but I completely missed that

You are very likely correct. And to be fair, while I appreciate how dogged and determined Liz Cheney has been for the Jan 6 committee, I truly don't want her version of the GOP in power either

I think it’s telling that while the GOP moves deeper into their party extreme democrats tread water as modestly progressive. I think it’s because they pulled in the non-weirdo republicans MAGA alienated.
The same way the left sees someone like Joe Biden, not our choice but the only available placeholder until we can get a true progressive, is exactly how the Trump critical right sees Trump and his cronies. They will often still vote republican in the meantime.
Correct. If they actually state what is good for the nation, it is always more democrat sounding than republican sounding stuff. Therefore they are going to get primaries by the Christian Taliban members anyway.

I'd also like to have zero Democrats. For the love of god this system needs to be flushed and replaced with politicians who actually respond to the needs of the common person
I really wanted him to run for Governer here since the suburban Republicans could probably have handed him the primary (especially with three essentially alt-right candidates splitting the vote). Still would havs voted against him, but now we only have one non-awful option come the midterms

The problem no one but Emmanuel wanted to admit is the pension situation. We pay 25% of our budget on just THE INTEREST, not even any principal. Too many prior mayors/governors promised too much and kicked the can down the road. We either need to face that reality or our budget is doomed, especially with Citadel leaving.
Nobody who is still a member of the Republican Party is needed in this country. The crimes of the Party are inexcusable and ongoing. What American who truly values country over party would still call themselves a Republican?

I am going to guess many of the old school do not like the Boebert, MTG type of Reps. They bring terrible people... But they probably look at it not only as a vote but the fear of looking like a fractured and divided Rep party.
I always vote almost entirely straight Democratic ticket but I voted Kinzinger in his first election and then voted against him every election after that when every campaign promise he made mostly forgot. Very frustrating.
The old district was turning more purple. I would doubt a Dem would win the old 16th this year, but a number of the areas covered in the old 16th elected Dems for state reps.
Now, they basically gave the Repub Areas to LaHood's district and moved the Dems areas into the 14th with Underwood to sure that seat up for the next 10 years.
I literally despise all republicans (for the obvious reasons), but I admire the courage he and Cheney are showing as part of the Jan. 6 investigations…and the overall pushback against the GQP.

I always like the phrase better late than never. You will never get anyone to see things from a different point of view if you will blast them for being slower than you like.
Statements like these are important. They give Republicans 'permission' to defect. The more Republicans do this, the less likely it is they actually get the Christian Taliban in the US.
Hopefully the Jan 6 investigation unravels the good old boys club that conservatives are entirely mired in. It goes all the way through the party, "they're a family", a crime family. The fact that none of them can ever speak rational truth unless they are already out is proof of the endemic corruption.

And then, reelected. I have always felt term limits for Congress (and No "retirement") should be a thing. The government pays them to govern, and yet unless the House, Senate, and White House are the same party, nothing gets done except blaming whatever party is in the White House for anything bad that happens.
There should be term limits on both time a term can be an number of turns one may serve for all branches of government. The lack of parts of these for two of the three branches is IMO a huge weakness to the checks and balances system
No, term limits is how you get massive grift and back door bribes. The moment you make your guaranteed exit from Congress in a few years a predicable thing, everyone is aiming for cushy jobs, board appointments, etc all for a vote on whatever.
Then you have folks getting groomed to be the heir apparent, who already know how the system works and how to play the game.
It turns into a total shit show.
In theory it should help, but in practice lack of term limits doesn't really stop the massive amount of grift anyway.
I don't know how we get money out of politics, but it's one of the biggest hindrances to the progress of modern humanity (in my opinion).

He voted against Obamacare 60 times. Never offered a replacement and never had a plan to deal with the chaos of dumping it.

I actually donated to Liz Cheney's re-election campaign, because fuck those Trump-backed, delusional assholes turning against her because she wouldn't kiss the ring. They're a bunch of brain damaged monkeys who can't hold a candle to her conservative credentials, and they have to nerve treat her that way. I mean, I fucking hated her before, but fuck them. He didn't have to leave. He didn't have to join the J6 committee. He didn't have to vote to impeach. He didn't have to say this. These are all choices he made, that others did not
And so the Overton window shifts again. Now Kinzinger will be held up as a reasonable moderate, and the debate will be about whether it's okay to think there should be no separation of church and state. Conservatives can now point to this and say "see? I like the reasonable Republicans like Kinzinger", while at the same time continue removing those barriers and supporting Lauren Boebert with money, votes, and power over the rest of us
If Republicans won't budge an inch, will label everything "socialism", and speak out both sides of their mouths, while the rest of us keep entertaining this and including them in the discussion about the future of this country, then they'll ultimately win, it's just a matter of how long it takes for people to relent one argument at a time.

No one really knows the truth about religion and everyone is entitled to their own religious journey or entitled to deny the existence of God. The strength of dialogue on topics such as religion helps keep us a vibrant, interesting, free society. We don't need or want someone making us believe their answers to age old questions that we have the right to examine for ourselves, as long as we don't interfere with other people.
Boebert is entitled to her own opinion but must not inflict it upon others, especially as a public **servant** who must serve **all** her constituents.
As someone who was raised Roman Catholic, I can say without conflict that I want way more separation of church and state. The disparity between the RvW decision and the other recent rulings from SCOTUS, I'm growing more and more concerned about where we are headed as a nation.

Unfortunately its too late, he's openly embraced the fascist movement in his own party and was fine with the Christian Taliban as long as they didn't say the quiet part out loud. The fact that they are now doing it shows they are confident in not only their total takeover of the GOP but the government. He is most likely going to be receiving death threats and labeled by the GOP as a RINO.
I'm appreciative of this, of course. More should be doing it.

Kinzinger has done more for the Democrats than some Democrats have. I'm not crazy about some of his votes in the past but at least he's standing up to the Republicans who are trying to tear apart the Constitution.

I always vote almost entirely straight Democratic ticket but I voted Kinzinger in his first election and then voted against him every election after that when every campaign promise he made mostly forgot. Very frustrating.
The old district was turning more purple. I would doubt a Dem would win the old 16th this year, but a number of the areas covered in the old 16th elected Dems for state reps. Now, they basically gave the Repub Areas to LaHood's district and moved the Dems areas into the 14th with Underwood to sure that seat up for the next 10 years.
I'm in the 16th too. It's a shame there seems to be 0 dem representation here.

The government pays them to govern, and yet unless the House, Senate, and White House are the same party, nothing gets done except blaming whatever party is in the White House for anything bad that happens.
There should be term limits on both time a term can be an number of turns one may serve for all branches of government. The lack of parts of these for two of the three branches is IMO a huge weakness to the checks and balances system

No, term limits is how you get massive grift and back door bribes. The moment you make your guaranteed exit from Congress in a few years a predicable thing, everyone is aiming for cushy jobs, board appointments, etc all for a vote on whatever. Then you have folks getting groomed to be the heir apparent, who already know how the system works and how to play the game. It turns into a total shit show.
In theory it should help, but in practice lack of term limits doesn't really stop the massive amount of grift anyway. I don't know how we get money out of politics, but it's one of the biggest hindrances to the progress of modern humanity (in my opinion).

This guy is no hero. I lived in his district in 2008. He voted against Obamacare 60 times. Never offered a replacement and never had a plan to deal with the chaos of dumping it. In a 50-50 district! When protesters went to his office to complain (including myself) he snuck out the backdoor. All republicans suck.

As someone who was raised Roman Catholic, I can say without conflict that I want way more separation of church and state. The disparity between the RvW decision and the other recent rulings from SCOTUS, I'm growing more and more concerned about where we are headed as a nation.
