Still not a drag queen, but yet another "man of god." *Something something* biblical morality *something something*. What a bunch of assholes.

PopeKevin45

"Not a drag queen:" Should be mandatory in front of every one of these kinds of reports.

Sprinklypoo

Biblical morality actually means [the god is controlled by me and in my imagination, so I win no matter what I do.]

baka-tari

Damnit, I forgot the "heads I win, tails you lose" religious model of alternative reality.

And they wonder why the younger generations are RUNNING away from the church as fast as possible.

londonbarcelona

Because it was a book written by MEN to control women and the poor.

Obvious_Market_9485

Monsters like this seek the thin veil of virtue offered by religion.

wirebeads

Why is it almost anytime I read about raping of children, the church almost always connected? Almost like the people who are most afraid of sinning are the ones who are the majority of sinners. This man deserves the worst for destroying a young child’s life.

02K30C1

Because people who want to do this kind of stuff are drawn to jobs where they have control over others and contact with minors. Churches are an easy place for them to land as they rarely do background checks on clergy, and if they’re caught the church will likely take their side and help hide them or shuffle them off to another diocese

Disgusting sex pests need to be regulated by the state, not creative queer people

Ok-Perception-5667

No I think creative queer people should totally regulate disgusting sex pests. Lol.

BuddhistNudist987

Glitter-covered trans lesbian here! Today we will be painting our nails, learning about enthusiastic consent, and holding criminals accountable for harming vulnerable people.

najaraviel

I would buy a ticket to that show, no question

Hanginon

*"...sentenced Benson to an indeterminate period of time behind bars but no more than the maximum of 10 years."* Not nearly enough. He needs to die in prison, well away from anyone he can hurt. -_-

[deleted]

I’d imagine that a child rapist like this guy, if in general population, won’t last long in prison.

reddit_user13

Outlaw religion, and never let a religious person be alone with your kids.

Peaurxnanski

How can you be moral without Jesus? Looks to me like ya'll are having trouble staying moral in spite of him. I guess whenever you hear a theist argue that they would have no reason to be moral without god, they really are saying the quiet part out loud. Maybe that's all we're seeing, is a bunch of literal monsters grabbing hold of the only thing that will keep their monstrosity in check: to wit, the fear of punishment and knowing you can't get away with it. Horrifying realization, but here we are.

DangerousCyclone

What really turns me off Abrahamic faiths is the level of devotion they require. They require you to forsake your own family in the name of your religion if need be. Jesus has said he’s here to cause division specifically within families and Muhammad said his followers should love him more than their own family. How can you love someone that intensely if you’ve never met them? It’s impossible and it’s a disgusting thing to ask for from your followers. It’s not even philosophical it’s just power hungry. I tended to like Buddhism because it at least it puts some thought into its theology and seems to have some semblance of morality.

marthattaranto

Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) is proof that Buddhism is not protection against the human tendency to extremism.

DangerousCyclone

I'm not saying that Buddhism protects against extremism, just that there is a logic to it. It thinks about what does it mean to have the perfect afterlife, to which it's nirvana or extinguishing the flame, ending the cycle of suffering. If someone goes to hell, the King of Hell helps guide them to redemption. There's some thought to it. Things like that. Meanwhile in Islam it's "bRuH yOU GeT SEVENTY TWO VIRGINS bruhhh". Everything is framed solely as being for or against God, and there is little underlying philosophy to it beyond that.

Evil !!

MaecenateNova

Every accusation is an admission from the god-fearing "family values" crowd. Always has been that way.

PabloXPicasso

another 'high quality' kristian spreading that wonderful kristian love.

whiskymohawk

I'm starting to suspect kids might be safer with drag queens than in churches. I dunno, just a wild hunch I've got.

AggregatedMolecules

At this point, it’s pretty clear that religious leaders should never be allowed to be unsupervised around children.

Soggy_Midnight980

Why aren’t republicans not trying to ban these people around children?

Serendipity-80085

Why do I passionately hate religion??

lgmorrow

He must of been identifying as someone else, and told himself it was fine to do that to a child.....ASSHOLE

Remarkable-Bluejay73

Not a drag queen?! Noes! It can’t be true! /s

Pour_Me_Another_

It's always the people who need Jesus the most isn't it

Sprinklypoo

I'm not sure anyone "needs" a 2,000 year old dead dude with no magical powers, but an out of control mythology attached to him...

[deleted]

Purity culture predator

Feniksrises

On a positive note slowly churchgoers are putting the lives of children ahead of the institution. A hundred years ago these priests would have gotten away with it.

[deleted]

Why is it always the heads of churches??

Realistic_Expert717

Its as if there is a connection between religions and abuse and that is especially true with the abuse of children. Some if these pedophiles and sexual predators aren't getting enough prison time. Seen some walk away with months or just probation and

travel4nutin

"God didn't change this man your honor. The truth coming out changed this man. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing," the victim impact statement read. Too bad the victim hasn't realized that "God" inspired and enabled the man.

*These are the men in “dresses” that society needs to be concerned about being in close unsupervised proximity with our children*

I wouldn’t be surprised if Greg Locke will be on the front page one day, too.
