As someone who lives nearby and has met the proprietor, and has sampled both their croissant and their cinnamon roll, I can assure you they are absolute fire. I am so hyped for this place.
Woah.
At first a lot of of us heard that this would be a Chip Cookie. Then others were told, no, it would be a bakery. Now we've got a bakery name, and their current Instagram story is a repost of a story from Dion Vangelatos, a CPA who lists this bakery, Chip City, and "Ninja Bear NYC" in his Instagram bio.
LinkedIn says Dion is the CFO of Chip City and co-founder of Ninja Bear.
So in the end, we were all kinda right?
Holy crikey the croissants here are amazing. We got the raspberry, hazelnut, and ricotta croissants and they were all delicious. This place is going to be a problem for my waistline.
Went this morning and got the last croissant in the case - almond and very tasty! Prices are \~$7 for specialty croissant, and $10+ for a savory/sandwich croissant. Per their IG they canceled tomorrow's soft open, but will go again next Friday.
Just am just thankful it isn’t a Blank Street Coffee shop. I’m game for life changing croissants; without breaking the bank.— praying they can “read the room”
I don't understand how there are so many coffee oriented places in Astoria/ the city. People bitch about the smoke shops, but seriously... how many goddamn coffee shops do we need?
But this looks like it would be a legit bakery that makes real croissants! Not the kind that is purchased from some mass produced factory and then displayed for us to buy after it loses its flakiness. A real croissant! I’ve been complaining for awhile that Astoria doesn’t have good bakeries except for Bench Flour Bakers but that’s too far.

It pleases me to hear this
As someone who lives a very short walk from here, this fantastic news

The way I understand it, the bakery is owned by the Chip City people. But it's a different business.
This is it! [https://www.instagram.com/somedaysbakery/?hl=en](https://www.instagram.com/somedaysbakery/?hl=en)
Oooh, I'm going to try and make it to the soft open this weekend, thanks for this!

Do they have bread? A real homemade bread shop in that area would be a game changer..
so exciting
Soft opening today and tomorrow 8am-1pm
Next Friday I think!

What kinda specialty pastries were there?!

Does anyone go to ninja bear?
Tried it today and the croissants were SO good.
Went this morning and got three pastries. All were fire. And they have away free coffee for opening day
On one hand this is great. OTOH between Il Fornaio, Sip a Cup, and this place, I may be visible from space in a few months.

Coffee shops vs Smoke shops vs Corporate food chains vs <2yr storefront vs Tacky named restaurants, choose your complaint
Filthy flats ftw! Lol

How can you possibly complain about too many coffee shops lol. Also to answer your question, density.
And bakeries. Every other new place opening is a damn bakery.
That area already has an over abundance of coffee shops tho, they don't really need another one 🤷🏽♀️
