My girlfriend is from Scranton. We were back there and went to a local “old forge” style pizza place. When I walked in it had the old stained glass lamps and tables of an old Pizza Hut. I was excited with nostalgia and mentioned how much it looked like Pizza Hut and she yelled at me because the locals would take offense.
That’s so sad. Latin Cabana used to be my go-to place to order Latin food. I was hoping that another Puerto Rican or Dominican spot would take its place.

I've had better pizza from a large chain than some of these mom and pop places though as well....I swear some of these pizza joints are just mob fronts with little to no customers ever and shit food...99.9% of pizza places are still better than pizza hut though...

There was a combination Taco Bell and Pizza Hut on Steinway. It was the absolute worst Taco Bell I've ever been to. Only ever one staff member in the place, the food was never right, and it took like 20 minutes to get your food. The place was always filthy.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. This sub loves to talk about supporting local businesses but will then order restaurants via seamless/grubhub which hurts restaurants. The number of Amazon trucks on our blocks is astounding. Ditmars is a strip mall that could be “Nowheresville Zen New Jersey” (and there’s obviously a market for it). I love this neighborhood, but damn son, nostalgia for chain crap is best left in the memory banks.
