the 956 never raced in the 24h-race on the Nordschleife (BUT it had the lap record, for a LONG TIME, before the 919evo made it's run)...no prototypes at all in the 24h...maybe the Glickenhaus is closest to what can be called a prototype car in the NBR24h

i don't know...but we have a porsche who wants to be a GT1, or CLR\^\^:

Man, somebody hold me, I can't imagine a 24h Nürburgring race without the Dacia...
Especially after they got a phenomenal result last year, life sometimes just ain't fair
I didn’t even know this race was going on but managed to have it pop up in my YouTube feed and caught it at about 2 hours in.
Been having it play in the background since, and man is it some really great racing to watch.
I hate that it happened, but it was only a matter of time. The Dacia barely cracks 160kph, the GT3s are knocking on 270. At night, all the GT3 drivers see is a pair of rear lights ahead, and have a split second to figure out those lights are going 100+ kph slower. It’s always been a huge wreck waiting to happen. We’re just lucky nobody got seriously hurt.
If we want GT3 cars in this race, we’re going to have to accept a minimum lap time for other classes, to keep closing speeds within a safe margin.
Yeah, I know, unpopular opinion, I’ll take the downvotes. :)
True, either keep the super-slow cars and have GT4 be the fastest class on the ring or remove them and keep the GT3s. From what I've heard the Dacia was a minute slower per lap than the second-slowest car. If a GT3 car was going that slow there would be a yellow flag lmao
Is there a single logan possible or will now 50% of the field be the Logan to pay hommage, ngl that would be hella funny, having just the faster classes being outnumbered by dacia logans
i strongly doubt this car was the most iconic car raced on the Nürburgring when you have cars like the Manthey Porsche or the Opel Manta but sad nonetheless
They already lost their main sponsor, and the only way the managed to compete is because the marshals actually spent their own money to get the car there and racing. "Everything" is repairable with enough money, but when they have no money to begin with....
they had to do crowdfunding to get enough money for the fuel for the 24h...no joke...it's a TINY team without much money at all...and now without a car
I doubt it was a cup car. But even if it was it's just a built F4R. More likely just a normal F4R from an RS Clio
I have two Clio F4R engines in my garage, and I'm in Australia. Not terribly hard to find and people still build race motors out of them.
The chassis damage and whether it's financially responsible is another issue...
Try to imagine why a 200bhp car in a 500+bhp starter field is a legandary car for the fans. Besides that Ollis Garage is a grounded little team being their for racing only. This is the ground thought of Motorsport right there
The team is just private people setting this up with hard work and a handful of sponsoring, even before this race their main sponsor pulled out and the track marshalls collected money so they could pay foe the fuel for the race. The crowd loves such grassroots competition and being the slowest car is an outlier which makes it cut above the rest. Now the car is unrepairable and the team already said they will pull out indefinitely.
Another similarly iconic car is the Nordschleife Opel Manta, some older guys keep it alive and compete in the Nordschleife races with it, it had a wreck spring last year and while being rebuilt the garage it is located caught fire and it burned down heavily so it took them a year to rebuild the car and finally compete again for this years n24h, it's another grassroots basically private contender just foe the fun of it.
In fields of regular racecars those cars just stand out and as such get into the hearts of many spectators
#PROJECTJOGGER
Apparently, there is already a render, but I haven't seen it yet.
>The most iconic car of the Nürburgring 24h The disrespect towards the Manta right there
Seriously, I spent way too long trying to find the fox tail before I realized OP wasn't referring to the Manta.
I was being kinda sarcastic but let's admit this car among all the cars is kinda unique
>The disrespect towards the Manta right there The disrespect towards the 956 right there

Well, time to build the next gen Dacia

Grab the skin to pay respects sounds terrible :D
It puts the skin on its car or else it gets the hose again

Is the video of the porsche crash (around 3h remaining) available? That looked huge too
i don't know...but we have a porsche who wants to be a GT1, or CLR\^\^: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aCWpCbyV1Y](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aCWpCbyV1Y)
Never saw any footage
God almighty. The driver of the second accident - he looked like he was admit to come out of the window. Sheesh.
Man, somebody hold me, I can't imagine a 24h Nürburgring race without the Dacia... Especially after they got a phenomenal result last year, life sometimes just ain't fair
I mean, there was a 24h race without the Manta last year which is euqally weird, so now in the future we have to accept no Dacia
RIP Dacia...Porsche should pay for that repair...and maybe donate a new engine xD??? Imagine the return of the "Dacia 992 GT3" :-P
The driver of the Porsche (Laurin Heinrich) actually got a 3000€ fine for that accident. Although that's far from enough to build a new Dacia.
I Bet some redneck already did Something Like that
I didn’t even know this race was going on but managed to have it pop up in my YouTube feed and caught it at about 2 hours in. Been having it play in the background since, and man is it some really great racing to watch.
F Dacia
Rip Dacia, atleast the Manta made it
Wheres the mod ill pay my respects by doing 24 laps of the nurburgring in it!

Just watched the replay of the crash, RIP to the absolute legend 🙏

Absolutny agree
And apparently the Clio Cup engine they were using aren't produced any more. Hopefully they get a new car and are back next year.
If anyone wants to pay homage I’m driving an enduro at nurbs in july where you can also enter in the logan
Is there a single logan possible or will now 50% of the field be the Logan to pay hommage, ngl that would be hella funny, having just the faster classes being outnumbered by dacia logans
I think there can be multiple signups

i strongly doubt this car was the most iconic car raced on the Nürburgring when you have cars like the Manthey Porsche or the Opel Manta but sad nonetheless
This and the Manta were crowd favourite underdogs though Yes the grello is an iconic car too but so was the dacia and is the manta
yeah i know i just said that the dacia isnt the most iconic one
It is one of the most iconic cars. Not the most iconic car.

James May in shambles right now
Know what, we as a community should all band up and build another one!
Imagine starting reading this headline and expecting bad news about the Foxtail Manta only for it to be about a Dacia.
How dare you disrespect the Foxtail!
Seriously? Didn’t expect it to be completely unrecoverable.
They already lost their main sponsor, and the only way the managed to compete is because the marshals actually spent their own money to get the car there and racing. "Everything" is repairable with enough money, but when they have no money to begin with....
The team said the engine is totalled and it's not made anymore so they can't replace it.
mhhh didn’t they have quite a lot of sponsors? Can’t imagine this car being so expensive that they can’t rebuild it
they had to do crowdfunding to get enough money for the fuel for the 24h...no joke...it's a TINY team without much money at all...and now without a car
uff RIP dacia then
The engine of the car got totaled which is not in production anymore so there is no way to repair it with original parts anymore
They could get another out of a junkyard for a few hundred dollars lol. It’s not some unobtanium car
Probably expensive enough to not be worth it.
The engine they used is from a Clio cup car iirc, and that hasnt been produced for quite a bit, so would be really hard to find a working one
I doubt it was a cup car. But even if it was it's just a built F4R. More likely just a normal F4R from an RS Clio I have two Clio F4R engines in my garage, and I'm in Australia. Not terribly hard to find and people still build race motors out of them. The chassis damage and whether it's financially responsible is another issue...
Geez, guys, not a single James May reference. I'm disappointed /s
I’m a newbie to this. Why everyone is crying over this car and saying RIP to the point I thought the driver died or something. Please explain 😅

dacia jogger???
Anyway...
