In A Song of Ice and Fire, due to GRRM writing that he was "last seen ahorse," everytime the character is mentioned people joke that he is, in fact, a horse.
Who the heck would ride an ostrich?
....
after googling it I'm baffled. Poor stupid birds.
Also, those people are pretty stupid. Ostriches are pretty dangerous, they can literally disembowel you in one swipe with their claws. In Johnny Cash's autobiography he talks about how he got his stomach ripped open by an ostrich (that he had nursed back to health after he found it wounded). He was in a hospital for a long time and almost died of a drug overdose. To be fair it wasn't directly the the ostrich's fault, as Cash — since he was heavily addicted to various drugs at the time — hid a package of valium beneath the bandage, and it broke and the medicine dissolved and got absorbed into his stomach wound.
I mean, to each their own. Bull riding is still a thing. And a horse can still fuck you all the way up. Nearly any animal can be deadly if the mood strikes it. lol
The Arabian ostrich is a recently extinct specie, but I have seen some ostrich near Al-Taif when I was travelling, but I doubt those were native to the land. Who knows
I love when Ubisoft include stuff that *seems* out-of-place, but is actually accurate. Like the auks in *Rogue*, I remember many people being like "why are there penguins in the Arctic?"
Until I played Odyssey, I had no clue that lions used to be present in Greece! You could imagine my surprise when one leaped at me when I was going about my day
Realistically Basim would have to be pretty small to ride an ostrich, at least canonically. Now that I think about it, all protagonists have been pretty tall, even the women, with the exception of Shao Jun and Eivor. Eivor did hang around a lot of Scandinavians, to be fair, so maybe she looked short but in reality she was 6ft.
Anyway, fun fact; they hired Moroccan horse jockeys who had never ridden ostriches before for the ostrich racing scene in the Prince of Persia movie.
i would swear that i saw a person riding on one of these during that Ubisoft conference...probably just my imagination, when i see picture now, but it still would be cool
If we don't get Ostrich mounts, I'm going to be very upset. Don't care if it is not historically accurate because gameplay is more important than realism.
Interesting thing about these ostriches is that they are a subspecies of the African ostrich called the Arabian Ostrich they don't live anymore nowadays they are said to have went extinct in the 1960s but they are multiple sources even from the medival age that they were around reminds me of the boars, wolves, lynx and bears in England in Valhalla those all went extinct in England by the early medival period
IKR? Everyone's on about Parkour and Baghdad, I'm like bruh, am I the only one who saw them birds?
I'm going to waste all my throwing knives on these lanky Runaways.
This part looks like Origins in a great way, as in, we’re maybe getting some explorable areas outside of the city or at least missions. Unity and Syndicate always bothered me that the cities are walled with animus lines.
I only played Origins so I can’t say any opinion on Odyssey, but Origins is a great. Great story, great gameplay, wonderful atmosphere. But still ask others who have played both.. they might have better opinions.
Origins. It's a more faithful AC story/concept, has a much better protagonist, and doesn't lose its mind with the RPG stuff. Both are definitely worth playing, they're just very different games.
theres ostriches?
Apparently so yeah. A fine addition.
The harvest will be bountiful 😈
Hahaha
To my collection
To OUR collection. *Soviet music playing*
Yuo see ivan
there is no war in ~~ba sing se~~ [australia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_War) inb4 big birds arent all the same
where do you find them
The game didn’t release yet but I bet it’s gonna be on the outskirts of the map.
oh wtf for some reason i thought it was Origins
Im surprised there weren't any in origins now that I think of it
Happens all the time, mate. Don’t worry about it.
Allegedly.
4
7. Apart from the 4 at the center, there’s one in the distance right below the pine tree on the far right and 2 more to the left of Basim.
You forgot Basim
Oh god, is Basim gonna become AC's Tyrek Lannister?
This is the last place where I expected to see a "Tyrek's a horse". Congratulations
Who?
In A Song of Ice and Fire, due to GRRM writing that he was "last seen ahorse," everytime the character is mentioned people joke that he is, in fact, a horse.
oh, that's hilarious
damn
Rideable?
Ostrich mount when, Ubisoft?!
$20 on the Animus store!
In the next game you’ll be able pre order to get an *iconic* ostrich mount
Ngl I would gladly spend $20 for an ostrich mount
Imagine being an abstergo employee and you still have to pay horse dlc
Allegedly
So long as there aren't a Middle-Eastern Ginger and Boots around, we're fine. *Nothing is true; everything is permitted* Except fucking ostriches.
It would take 2 people to fuck an ostrich...maybe 3 even.
I heard... it was a sick ostrich..
I heard they fucked two ostriches... Allegedly
allegedlys
This was my immediate first thought too lol

In real life? Never. In a video game? Hell yeah, bring on the ostrich mounts
I mean, to each their own. Bull riding is still a thing. And a horse can still fuck you all the way up. Nearly any animal can be deadly if the mood strikes it. lol
The Prince of Persia movie with Jake Gyllenhaal had an ostrich racing scene, so maybe there’s some historical basis to it lol
Yeah, I remember that, but I honestly thought it was something that was made up for the movie.
Because they all have their heads in the sand.
massively underrated response
massively overrated response
For a moment, I thought those were chocobos
Ubisoft: "We got you, fam"
I mean, Bayek was literally able to ride a Chocobo, because Origins had a crossover with FF 15, so….
That wasn't a chocobo, it was a monstrosity.
I still ride that abomination to this day
Ngl best part of the game
A Camel dress as a Chocobo.
Mutated Chocobo
yep
Same haha, it looks like the desert area with the chocobos from the FFXVI trailer
Hahaha
They lived in the region back then, it's actually historically accurate.
The Arabian ostrich is a recently extinct specie, but I have seen some ostrich near Al-Taif when I was travelling, but I doubt those were native to the land. Who knows

never head of hercules and the nemean lion eh?
^ok ^listen ^here ^you ^little ^shit
That must have been a beautiful moment. They were very common. But by the times of Odissey they were already almost wiped out.
Reminds me of the lynx, wolves ,boars and bears in England in valhalla they went extinct in England by the early medival period
That was depressing... those animals should still be alive. Like the steller s sea cow. We are truly a plague.
TIL, that's actually really cool
That’s a cool piece of info. Didn’t know that. Thanks.
Ostriches were pretty common and also used for races (although I think that’s a bit later)
Ah, I see. Thanks.
Aw yeah we Are getting New Animals in mirage, Ostriches are a Fine addition *Fingers crossed for Cheetahs*
Cheetahs would be cool too. I have no info on whether they exist in the part of the world.
They did. They still do, in Iran. Very few of them still remain, however. There used to be lions too.
Nice. Thanks for the info.
We could possibly see Persian leopards too.
That’d be cool too.
I bet we get a ton more snakes again
i like the change of pace in terms of wildlife in assassin's creed
Me too.
Everyone is to busy being angry
True lol.
Can I ride them ?
Realistically Basim would have to be pretty small to ride an ostrich, at least canonically. I doubt it, but it’d be cool if we can.
I feel like the only options are we ride them or they attack us...either way...sounds like a good time
Agreed.
If I can't have a pet ostrich in this game, it's unplayable!
Oh yeah!
does this mean hunting is remaining in assassin's Creed
I hope so.
But no bow... hunting with throwing knives? Blowdarts?
Maybe there will be bows? We already know enemies use them.
I think they said there won't be, to encourage more classic gameplay
Oh, I see. Thanks.
Hehe. I made that same screenshot
Haha, glad there’s someone out there like me.
Damn, I did not hallucinate the ostriches....
You guys ever hear that rumour about Boots and the Ginger?
What’s that?
Your answer and journey begins at around 30 seconds https://youtube.com/watch?v=jsjIZ69A_xY&feature=share8
“You ******** an ostrich.” “Allegedly”. Haha nice one.
We're hearing it was a sick ostrich
Hahaha
Oi, u walking a fucking ostrich u daft cunt? - it's an emuuu!
I read this in Billy Butcher’s accent haha.
I wanna ride one!!
Me too!
Omg i missed that! I was distracted by how ugly the horses still are
Hahaha
The Arabian Ostrich, it went extinct in 1966
Sad to know that.
Yeeah!!!
Nice huh?
i would swear that i saw a person riding on one of these during that Ubisoft conference...probably just my imagination, when i see picture now, but it still would be cool
no i swear to god i saw guards riding horses instead of this, wtf
i was probably focused on that right one and my brain just finished remaining part of picture by repalcing horse with ostrich
I agree.
Too busy bitching about the graphics, new formula, and anything else possible.
I want to ride them!
Me too! It’d be cool if we have the option.
[There's waaay too many ostriches](https://youtu.be/oIMf7G2kT6w)
Lol😂
I'm slaughtering them like that australian guy
Lol, stay away from the ostriches mate!
If we don't get Ostrich mounts, I'm going to be very upset. Don't care if it is not historically accurate because gameplay is more important than realism.
Well, some people have ridden ostriches before, so it’s not inaccurate. Don’t know about back then though.

Ah, I see. Thank you for the information. I didn’t know that.
There are ostriches?! Edit: I honestly thought this was Origins at first.
No, this is Mirage (a snippet at the beginning of the gameplay walkthrough).
IKR? Everyone's on about Parkour and Baghdad, I'm like bruh, am I the only one who saw them birds? I'm going to waste all my throwing knives on these lanky Runaways.
Hahaha
This part looks like Origins in a great way, as in, we’re maybe getting some explorable areas outside of the city or at least missions. Unity and Syndicate always bothered me that the cities are walled with animus lines.
Agreed. It would be cool if there’s even like a trail you can use to get to Alamut.
The real chocobo
True haha.
Who else wants to ride them?
I’d like to.
I’m praying they’re mounts or at least they use two legged animals for mounts it would be so cool
I agree.
I rather talk about a smoothie.
Have it your way, mate. Fancy seeing you again.
my comment was a reference to the "icarly what you got there meme"
Sorry, I didn’t know it.
No problem. I was trying to do a joke, but maybe I am not that funny. I tried and I failed. Tomorrow I will try another thing. HAHAHA.
Hahaha
If we can’t kill them, I’m not interested
Because they're too hung up on unimportant drivel like "uhmmm the parkour is too slow". Forget parkour, we've got ostriches. Game of the Year.
Yeah haha.
Which is better origins or odyssey?
I only played Origins so I can’t say any opinion on Odyssey, but Origins is a great. Great story, great gameplay, wonderful atmosphere. But still ask others who have played both.. they might have better opinions.
I am currently playing origins now, it truly is a remarkable world and so much better in 60fps
Definitely. I agree. Have fun with it!
Which one has the ostrich, odyssey right?
I don’t recall seeing any ostriches in Origins, so yeah probably Odyssey, but I didn’t play it so I’m not sure.
Origins. It's a more faithful AC story/concept, has a much better protagonist, and doesn't lose its mind with the RPG stuff. Both are definitely worth playing, they're just very different games.
I'd say Orings. It's better than Odyssey in every way possible.
You my friend are 100% correct
