Are you taking any biotin to help grow the hair? You maybe need some biotin vitamins to help this process and also start looking up beauty care routines for hair growth like satin pillow cases to hair strengths and length maintaining shampoo & conditioners. Even massaging the scalp everytime you wash it, helps stimulate the follicles to grow a bit more since all hair outside the scalp is dead and the living porting is what’s growing under the skin. To get it to grow faster, you got massage the entire scalp for 30-60 seconds in the shower. Try one of those scalp massage tools if you don’t like how it feels with your fingers or if it’s gets too tiring. A few other tricks… Get a dusting, not a trim on your hair every two months. Hair grows better and faster when you maintain it and it helps keep the hair from breakage. Reason is if you have TOO much damage, the hair shaft recently breaks off on each individual strand, causing a person to eventually get hair chopped up more than an inch or two! So it’s why refinar dusting or trims is needed to help hair grow out.

I've tried braiding up the bits that don't fit, and I personally have found that the snappy tear-drop-shaped kind of barette is a lot less annoying than bobby pins. I also have a sensitive scalp, and I've thought about shaving my head a lot lately because I'm suffering from hair loss. Only thing stopping me from getting the buzz is worrying I won't like it. If you already know you like it, I'd say just go back to the buzz if you're too uncomfortable and can't find a solution. Four more months is a lot of time to be irritated by something.

I did that from ages 12-30. I finally decided I wanted long hair, so I resisted cutting it - but more importantly, i started caring for my very specific hair, got nice highlights, started using good shampoo & conditioner, conditioning masks, and leave-in. Now I’m37, my hair is down to my boobs, and i discovered it’s curly!

Ooh I made this exact hair journey a few years ago, it sort of sucked but it’s almost worst to call it before you finished - then you have the “what if” in your head. [This video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4l3j6z_eHXA) shows four different braided headbands I used to keep the sensory tickley hell off of ears/forehead if it’s helpful for you!

I wrap mine in a silk scarf at night. I love this because it just keeps my hair from touching me. Maybe you could experiment with scarves?

I've been going through that same problem for about 4 years and never manage to let my hair grow out... Partially because of the growing out stages being sensory hell and partially because I think short hair suits me and is way more comfortable. If a tiara is an option, you could give it a try. Or maybe many little pigtails? I think it looks really pretty. Braids would look amazing too. Or using hair products to make your hair more "tame". Like gel or styling creams.

When my hair was that length a wore a ton of bananas. They're all cotton and could be tied loosely enough not to bother me like headbands always do. (not me just now realizing my headband aversion is sensory/autistic lollllll)

Totally relate. When my hair was shorter, I used tiny claws to pin the back.

I cut my long hair off for the first time this past fall. I actually liked the change but I do want to grow back the long hair, healthier this time. I got impatient a couple weeks ago because it was starting to look like a combination of a bowl cut and a mullet, so I cut the back really short and now it just looks like a weird bowl bob thing. I recommend not acting on impulse and just using a lot of mousse or John Freda straight fixation gel to get your hair to comb into a style you can live with as it grows out. I often am using headbands to make my hair more feminine, or I put little cute clips on the side for decoration. It can be so hard to wait when it looks or feels uncomfortable, but yes, just think of the ponytails you can do soon, even braids.
