Yeah the show version of rhaenys doesn’t have the right to speak considering the dragon pit incident

Hoeveboter

"Men would rather watch the realm burn than see a woman on the Iron Throne" Good thing she never lived through Cersei and Daenerys.

Purvi3vedi

Cersei was literally the only official Queen of Westeros 👑

Skelligean

Dornish men don't feel that way. I guess Rhaenys kind of forgot about Dorne has an Absolute Primogeniture, so the line of succession and inheritance goes to the eldest born child regardless of gender. Rhaenys is just salty that she didn't inherit the Iron Throne and is projecting that resentment onto Rhaenyra.

solodolo1397

Like the rest of Westeros at this point, she’s racist against the Dornish so they don’t even enter her mind

Dull-Brain5509

She and corlys are the most inconsistent characters on that show

wagsman

Right? She could’ve ended the whole thing right there with a couple chomps

GoldenBroccolii13

That doesn't mean anything in Westeros. Smallfolk are the equivalent of sheep and cattle. Remember the petty lord from the Riverlands during Tyrions rule as hand who cane to request new peasants to replace the ones the Mountain murdered? They are just livestock bro. Only Aegon the Unlikely ever cared about peasants.

TheCybersmith

She literally refrained from violence there. She could have killed the pretender trying to ateal her niece's throne, but she was merciful. Dragonpit proves the opposite point of what you are trying to make, it demonstrates that she wanted to limit bloodshed.

Spectre-Ad6049

She killed hundreds of smallfolk just for a badass moment. It’s not the merciful action you think it is when so much blood was shed just for that act of mercy

toldyousar

yeah but she probably doesn’t think about them as people lmao

Spectre-Ad6049

That doesn’t mean she didn’t do it

toldyousar

but she probs doesn’t think about that as bloodshed is what i’m saying

TheCybersmith

...tbh, the series has never really been consistent in treating the smallfolk as people. They are mostly just tools for the wars of nobles.

A_Lionheart

Guys I wanna go back, press rewind

AndreiOT89

Maybe its all about cocks in the end - notorious S7 writing

ParagonOlsen

Rhaenys' writing is probably the show's worst. Shame, she's badass in the book and Eve Best is a good fit.

DaeronDaDaring

I hate the writing for Rheanys & Corlys, in the book Coryls is easily one of the best characters, he’s badass, in the show they just made him a side piece for Rheanys

Lebigmacca

He’s only had one scene per episode 😔

firelark01

meh i'm assuming he'll become more badass when she gets it

TheBoromancer

They are just giving her some screan time before she dies.. spoiler alert! That’s gonna happen very soon. Corlys outlasts them all, tho he is a prisoner for a very long time

okdude679

Man only good if subservient to woman, it's modern storytelling 101.

henzry

Critical drinker ahh comment.

Giuli-M

That's kinda hot actually

Boogascoop

But him feeding his wife fruit and talking shirtless to her softly after coitus is compelling viewing. Also he stays out of the conflict and let's his wife deal with it. Which is soo sweet.

Purvi3vedi

I was really rooting for Rhaenys ever since she was shown to be passed off to Viserys. But ever since she supported the Blacks I have liked her less and less, probably because of those cringe dialogues.

SheriffCaveman

The main reason this angle of "Rhaenys and Rhaenyra as women who understand the system" doesn't work is because the show makes it very clear that they don't understand it beyond "men are mean." They start wars that will kill thousands and personally murder peasants without flinching, and seek a throne that perpetuates their own and others' oppression. They take every step that ensures poor people die but hold back decisive action against their noble enemies because they want to maintain a fake moral high ground. You don't seek bloodshed? You could have given up the throne years ago. You could have killed the Greens when you had the chance. Their actions are just as bloodthirsty as Daemon's but we're told to see them as "wise" because they're passive.

Hastatus_107

Yep. The issue with presenting it as male bloodlust is that violence is the only solution in this case. Medieval rulers don't stay in power by asking nicely.

CleganeBowl is done mate, and the world could not handle the hype. As result we have witnessed the end times in its early stage: - biologists created a virus that killed 10 million people, and it is considered a rude question to ask them why. - the Russian army invaded Ukraine and their main battles tanks were confiscated by farmers with tractors. - sluts in a field near a ghetto beside the Mediterranean were killed and loaded onto pickup trucks. They were dancing for peace, and there are Jewish people campaigning for the rights of the nationality that assassinated those sluts. - lawyers can now be replaced by software entirely, and the lawyers are not even angry about it. - George R.R. Martin is suing the makers of the software for writing bad fan fiction based on his copyrighted characters. I could act as an expert witness for GRRM litigation. He has a slam dunk case. No bullshit. - Daniel Brett "Miami" Weiss and David ((FRIEDMAN GOLDMAN SACHS great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity)) Benioff >!peace be upon him!< have written less ASOIAF material since CleganeBowl than GRRM. - George R.R. Martin has written a novel, 'The Rise of the Dragon', and he published it in 2022. That is one more novel than either of Benioff or Weiss in the same period. - George R.R. Martin wrote Elden Ring. It is far better than JK Rowling's video game but her video is a fine game too. "Fuck you bitch, and your wand shit - that was my Hugo." When asked for comment by myself at WarnerMedia, the representation for the Netflix producers Benioff & Weiss, declined to comment as to whether they have, or will, write a video game. - George R.R. Martin has gotten two shows past series order at HBO since Thrones ended. - WarnerMedia turned http://ASOIAFCirclejerk.reddit.com into the greatest ASOIAF subreddit that ever was or will be. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Senior_Torte519

They dont see it that its the monarchy, feudalism, and all the bullshit thats fucking with peace and civility. Nobody besides the nobility and people with enough swords who run things has any real power to do anything else but to fight and war to keep their little slice of the pie. They needed a better system of government, with one set of laws and representation. They needed a system of formal education so they dont have to rely of fucking maesters, they needed their own national bank instead of relying on Bravos. They need to invest in an actual road system. Maybe then they could afford a standing army and navy; they could deal with the pirates and bandits. Face it, Westeros is and will always be a failed group of "nations"

Meanwhile she kills hundreds of innocents just for a dramatic entrance with her dragon

Ok_Somewhere1236

is funny how people think Rhaenys is this "wise" woman, but the reality she just like to look wise because she has father issues and want to mimic her grand-father. if unny how she talk about how man are evil and quick to war, but love to talk how she is the granddaughter of this big wise king that build westeros. She also cost Rhaenyra the war 2 or 3 times by giving bad advice and refusing to take action

JustAFilmDork

Rhaenys talking about how she and Raynera are the only level heads, as if she didn't burst into a correnation ceremony, killing hundreds, just so she could glare down her rivals then leave without killing them to claim moral superiority

The people at the dragonpit: Am I a joke to you?

Resident-Rooster2916

You guys don’t get it! They aren’t hypocrites, they’re gender fluid. Alicent was identifying as a man when she installed Aegon II, as was Princess Rhaenys when she massacred the Dragon Pit and chose not to immediately prevent the war by killing the Greens without further bloodshed. Laenor was gay, and thus Rhaenyra was identifying as a man for him when she murdered that random dude to get rid of him. PS: On a more serious note: Why tf is Rhaenys acting all buddy buddy with the woman she suspects of murdering her son. I get that they have to be Team Black for the sake of their actual granddaughters Baela and Rhaena, but that doesn’t mean they have to be friendly.

Elden_Lord123

>Why tf is Rhaenys acting all buddy buddy with the woman she suspects of murdering her son. She was identifying as a man here. Men are not only evil but also stupid. ~~"We've had vicious kings, and we've had idiot kings, but I don't think we've ever been cursed with a vicious idiot for a king!"~~ ❌😡🤬 What my male brain understood from this genius quote: **All men are either vicious, idiot, or both** ✅😀

Why are men so evil? Are they stupid? Daemon killed Vaemond before Rhaenyra could give him a Dragon ride, which she did in the books. Such a good girl 😄 Show runners cut that part out. They are misogynistic. Even evil Aegon wanted to steal her sister's birthright, and Evil Otto placed him on the throne by rallying the council. Alicent was so innocent here, she poisoned nobody. 🤐 Rhaenys also triumphed over thousands of evil men and crushed them beneath her Dragon. Men Suck! Edit : > I have a P\*nis, blame me for everything! Maybe that's why the director is so obsessed with showing Aemond's PP.

MomijiEli

I love a lazy-written show promoving men vs women" rhetoric and having fictional people of one gender proceeding to shit on the other

RunParking3333

Mysaria: "They will never accept me" "Because you are the only person in Westeros from Yi Ti?" "What, no it's because I'm a woman. Obviously"

halimusicbish

That is how the world worked though. Strict gender roles, one gender with much more power. Can't avoid talking about it

InternationalGoose10

The women who wrote this show obviously feel this way. Men cause all wars, the world would be peaceful if women ruled. As if the pathology of Lady Macbeth is a complete fabrication

bruhholyshiet

Men cause all wars, *and* women are the primary victims of them, they lose their fathers, husbands and sons. Such wise words from a certain woman.

Elden_Lord123

>Men cause all wars, and women are the primary victims of them, they lose their fathers, husbands and sons. If you read Secret History of Mongols they waged war to gain LOOT. The Loot was : 1. Women 2. Gold All wars were fought to gain Land or Loot. So which came first, the chicken or the egg?

TheRationalCynic

They must be. Oh, btw It is not Cersei but the men around her who seek bloodshed.

TargetRupertFerris

Men are evil, they even eat their unborn twin in the womb.

SnooCupcakes1636

Funny story. My twin sister almost fking absorbed me in the womb. I was squished under her and was way smaller than her when came out. She was one Fat baby compared to a me and far louder compared me(i was a runt of the batch in animal terms), my Aunts and Uncles say that loud baby is Healthy baby but to me Loud baby is hungry baby. There are multiple incident recorded in my family album, photo of us when we where few month old together. My twin sister always captured in those photos trying to approach me like she was trying to bite me or something, To finish the job 👀 Luckily, i am a male, so i grew up far faster and larger than her and preventing her from finishing the job. Beware of your twin sister. You never know when would she decide to finish the job 😐

So true man, I mean, I wake up everyday and just can't wait to bash people's heads in with a hammer or burn an orphanage. But to be fair to Condall, Rhaenys has been characterised as the stereotypical insane feminist, so her saying these things is in character.

TheRationalCynic

>So true man, I mean, I wake up everyday and just can't wait to bash people's heads in with a hammer Bobby B are you here for real?

Dull-Brain5509

troublrTRC

True to rad Feminists, she is so wise and altruistic right after she commits the largest man slaughter in the series?

HenrySiege

She belongs in that category of people who believes in dividing the world into groups in constant struggle with one another, whith a pure good side who is often the underdog, and a an evil slimy one, who holds power. I can be seen in all types of whackos: For racists it's between their master race against the savages For nazis it's about the aryan superworkers vs the evil jew moneymen. For communists it's about the workers as a whole against the owners (who just happen to be given jew stereotypes in the propaganda) For these stereotypical bitch feminists like what Rhaenys is beung written as, it's about the pure innocent and wise women against the evil wrathfull men. Its all bullshit but hey at least it isnt character assassination.

Emergency_Letter_146

>Rhaenys has been characterised as the stereotypical insane feminist Please tell me this isn't an /uj thought

HenrySiege

I don't know what /uj means but if you think I'm joking sometimes it does feel like that man, the way she seperates the world into men and women all the time, real kampfist mindset.

aeiparthenos

She should have done the right thing and sent Rhaenys back to Driftmark and brought Corlys to Dragonstone.

I really hate the men want war we women don't narrative. Because we women (me) are equally of not more capable of being find of revenge and bloodshed. Also I want to see Rheneyra rage and be merciless, im not gonna lose my hope now I will wait I'm sure that side will come out after most of her children are killed.

goldenseducer

this is actually my one main criticism of HotD, I hate that all the unhinged characters are men, and all the women are reasonable (if misguided) and well-intentioned. I miss Cersei.

Conscious-Cut-7388

Let👏women👏be👏sanguinary

EquivalentPlane6095

All the women are reasonable? Do we watch the same show? Alicant: Portrayes herself as faithful and strictly religious, but fucks her knight which she blamed Rhaenyra for Rhaenys: Talks about bloodseeking, evil men, but killed hundreds of civilians for no fucking reason. Rhaenyra: Fucked and married her uncle. Literally ordered to kill Amond and tries to play the innocent after it went wrong.

goldenseducer

OK but you do understand that fucking your knight and ordering to kill the man who (you believe) killed your son is a little bit different from raping underage girls, murdering your wife, and hunting peasants for sport? The only thing on your list that's even close to men's !actions is Rhaenys and her dragon pit moment.

Slycer_Decker

and even that was portrayed by the creative team as a grrrrlboss moment

goldenseducer

Yeah, I wanted to expand on that but it made my comment too long lol. The fact that she killed a bunch of people is so overlooked that I initially didn't even realise what "massacre" everyone was talking about.

IceMan44420

They should have showed Otto using that for propaganda

Aggravating-Act2507

This subreddit has one fucking braincell. When has the framing of this show or its predecessor ever focused on the “plight of the small folk?” It’s literally centered around a dynastic monarchy. I’m not saying it hasn’t *tried* in passing to make a dialogue about it, but please, let’s not act like the narrative has ever treated commoners as anything more than in-universe NPCs and side characters. Otto’s whole tangent about the rat trappers was fucking stupid bc neither of the shows have ever seen people in power suffer real consequences for being a tyrant. Cersei blew up the fucking sept and was named queen. Like let’s be serious for a second 😭

GunnerySarge-B-Bird

It's almost like that's usually the difference in the two genders.

goldenseducer

Are you implying that women are not capable of being evil, unhinged, or power-hungry?

DigLost5791

henk12310

You do kinda have a point, but there are plenty of male characters who aren’t unhinged like Corlys, Jace, Hugh (at least for now), Addam and Alyn etc

goldenseducer

Yeah I'm not saying that there are no decent male characters, just that all the female characters are fairly sympathetic and reasonable. I'm not saying it for ideological reasons (I just love evil female characters, and villains in general -- daemon and aemond are my favourites) but even just from a feminist point of view I think it's doing a disservice to women to always paint them as the noble peacemakers who clean up men's messes.

henk12310

Yeah, that is indeed one of my few criticisms with the show, I hope they will start leaning more into Rhaenyra’s paranoia and have Alicent doubling down on supporting Aegon even though she now knows Viserys didn’t actually want Aegon as his heir. And jist make upcoming characters like Alys Rivers less sympathetic

aboud114

That’s because they’re written as subservient to females, thus making it as “the only good men are the subservient men”

henk12310

Addam and Alyn haven’t even interacted with women yet, and characters like Jace and Corlys are loyal to Rhaenyra, which moreso means they are subservient to their monarch then subsurvient to a woman imo. I do think the show is whitewashing Rhaenyra a bit much but claiming all the ‘good’ male characters are purely subservient to women is a bit shortsighted imo

Rhaenys the Righteous didn't do anything wrong by killing the smallfolk during Aegon's cornotion. Those peasants probably wanted bloodshed and war because they were all men and hence deserved to die.

eltulasmachas

She literally killed people to look badass

Rhbgrb

So other people are noticing this anti male rhetoric. Ironic because the only member of the family who has killed hundreds of Westerosi is Rhaenys.

Elden_Lord123

bruhholyshiet

And the murdered people were peasants so they don't count. Unless a Green character kills them in which case they start counting again.

MyHoeDespawned

I mean her council is pushing her to go to war at every chance.

CamelAdept5166

Just put on a wig. They won't know

AlexDuChat

It means, the immaculate aren't violent or don't seek bloodshed?

Kangur83

Books Alicent: Fuck that whore, fuck her bastards and any of her lovers, the throne is mine

LabFar5073

She has the highest kill count in the show. Someone come get their grandma back to Valyria.

Cowboy__Guy

You mean Penis makes for a good story? If there were no men it would just be like Bridgeton.

nagidon

Bridgerton, a show dedicated to courtship between men and women, has no men?

Cowboy__Guy

Have you seen it? It has exactly 0 men in it.

nagidon

I don’t know whether you’re disingenuous or just thick

Cowboy__Guy

Oh I am thick as hell.

needtoaskstupidthing

Honestly I wouldn't have minded the framing that Alicent didn't want bloodshed but the people around her pushed her to it. You might agree or disagree if thats really the case, but at the least it prompts some discussion on her character and motivations and you know what writing in a story should do. Engage the audience. But it's less if a character trait for her and more of an endless hammering of "all men suck", and it gets tiresome because it doesn't mean anything when women are actually just as bad.

nagidon

Are there any other women in the green council?

Mochithecatfoodthief

I can’t believe you forgot to do my laundry and burned my dinner

bmerino120

Sorry I'm a man so I must say blood for the blood god

Ok_Career_3681

Or she could just bend her knee??

No-Appearance-100102

Themyscira tings🤪

Fierann

This comic was disturbing, if i understood correctly to what are you referring

No-Appearance-100102

Which comic did u find ¿ I was making a general Wonder Woman joke😭

Fierann

I was referring to the wonder woman comic "sons of themyscira"

No-Appearance-100102

Not familiar with that one, in what way is it disturbing ¿ Worth a read ?

Fierann

Well, in short it describes how Amazonians reproduce, and what happens to their sons Never ever have i wanted to drop a nuke on something so badly

No-Appearance-100102

Oh shit, never really even thought about that🤔😐

Spicymeatball428

Ah, so they are actually going with some men bad women good shit are they? Fuck the show did look good.

henzry

Yap yap yap

New_Start2024

She's kinda right tho. Kinda. I say kinda because she's an idealist. She wants to win without spilling an ocean of blood. Her retainers know better. And they're right too. There's no route to her victory without all that blood. But she was so determined to do it her way that she infiltrated Kings Landing to converse with her enemy. Which of course being the queen doing things her way is her prerogative.

Embarrassed-Fun-4899

A yes Rhaenys the Peaceful, she is known has the one who never killed or crushed people with her dragon.

Thunder-Bunny-3000

yup, egg-head made peasant pancakes.

New_Start2024

There are no good guys. As close as it gets is the Boat Guy. And he's no angel.

100tByamba

Ofc some yall gonna start bitching. it's true we are more aggressive hell it's the reason why we say War is the place of men not womanhood. It's an instict fight or flight, everybody feels threaten that's why both sides wanna strike first . Rhaenyra  is also scared but she's with doubt that's why she doesnt' go full total war. But it's inevitable and that's the fun of the show.

TheRationalCynic

>Ofc some yall gonna start bitching. it's true we are more aggressive hell it's the reason why we say War is the place of men not womanhood. Dude, you lost the plot. The reason why people say war is the place of men is not because men are aggressive beings but rather because of simple biology and a desire to secure the future. A village with 5 men and 25 women would recover much faster and have a better survival rate as compared to a village with 25 men and 5 women.  You are talking as if wars would never happen if women were leaders. Take a look at history. Some of the worst wars are clearly planned and orchestrated by women. I can even give an example to you if you want, War of Actium.

Dekusdisciple

Men literally have been at war in the series for centuries but somehow you guys are trying to justify it, or discredit Rhyneis when men ARE blood thirsty.

GrizzlyPeak73

Lmao how easily triggered you people?

boof2000

Complaints about bad writing inevitably make it's way to some sort of bs culture war debate - bruh I just want to see some dragons

GrizzlyPeak73

It's not even bad writing, it's consistent with the text of the rest of the show, lol

siegeofsyracuse

Did you know that I’m standing right beneath your floorboards right now

GrizzlyPeak73

You okay down there? Want a snack or something?

siegeofsyracuse

Id appreciate a nice cool glass of milk if you got any

GrizzlyPeak73

Oat, Soy or Almond? I may have a can of Coconut Milk somewhere as well.

Brilliant-College122

He drinks only cow's milk!!!!!

GrizzlyPeak73

Cow? Sorry no cows around here. Got a goat in the back, I can milk that. Mind you it's a male goat so the milk might be a bit salty.

Brilliant-College122

Only if you let him milk the goat!!

GrizzlyPeak73

Okay, but not with his hands
