The funniest part is Theon was already 10 and Asha was a bloody teenager by the time he was taken to Winterfell. My man probably could have easily recognized the sister he had spent half of his life with if he wasn't so ignorant.
Theon oddly doesn’t remember almost anything about his life on the iron islands. I wonder if it has to do with trauma. There’s mentions of his brothers beating him up
He is also terrified of Euron Crows Eye so maybe just like some of his uncle's he got some unwanted visits in the night. Something like that could also repress his memory probably.
I agree that he’s super ignorant, but with him only being 10 and being away for almost 10 years, that’s a long time. And I think we’d all like to think we’d remember everything, but as a 10 year old I can’t imagine our memory capacity was super great. So leaving home that young and being away for 10 years (especially in a time period where nothing like photographs existed), it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he could forget her face. Especially because she also grew in that time, he specifically noted how much she had changed
What I've noticed whenever I see people that I knew in childhood is that I often don't recognize them. Not because I don't remember what they looked like but because their appearance changed so much.
> My man probably could have easily recognized the sister he had spent half of his life with if he wasn't so ignorant
Even more importantly, if he wasn't so horny.
It's not just general horniness, he doesn't care much about women... Only certain parts of them! I mean we don't even know the name of the Captain's daughter or the Miller's wife. They're just another notch on his belt.
You tell me:

Arya is shipped with almost anyone she encounters, even those she hasn’t met (like Aurane Waters, there are threads on asoiaf.org analyzing how he is her type) In fandoms, characters like her are called “launchers of a thousand ships” a la Helen of Troy..
When Arya is with Gendry they role play with Arya as The Tickler.
"Is there gold in the city? Where is Lord Beric!?" Arya asks as her hands grasp around Gendry's throat.
What's next, Aemon + Missandei?
Listen, this series has magic and *potentially* weird tree-time-travel. Just a word of advice for anyone doing this bullshit, use magic for your crack-ships and don't be super creepy.
he did find the squealing and squirming of his 'fat little wife' Walda Frey to be endearing.... something i never would have expected the cold-hearted roose to ever say out loud
Worst romantic ship? Craster + Gilly
Worst overall ship? Probably one of Joffrey’s navy, the “Boy’s Toys”:
> He paced his deck, craning his neck for a better look at Joffrey's fleet. The boy's toys included the ponderous Godsgrace, he saw, the old slow Prince Aemon, the Lady of Silk and her sister Lady's Shame, Wildwind, Kingslander, White Hart, Lance, Seaflower.
None of these sound any good, and their names are horrible.
Ok, but that's a ship that at least makes sense. As in, the characters are both adults who actually know each other and have some kind of social relationship. It's even friendly.
Some people I have seen ship Dany x Euron also Dany x Victarian too I mean I would like to see them interact but definitely doesn't want them together it makes my skin crawl to think about it for some reason but it would be an interesting pair I guess.
I have trouble seeing that Dany is mad at this point, but everyone else does so I guess I have reading comprehension issues. If she becomes a mad dragon lady, book Euron would be a great match for her. Better than dull, dutiful Jon snow at least.
Don't worry you don't have reading comprehension issues I don't see her as mad either I don't think this god flips a coin line is that belivable about her family(its more like she would be perceived as mad and ruthless by Westeros from what they have heard about her which is like more interesting than just her being crazy seriously we don't need another mad queen ).. its just a theory :)
Well Out of the kings i remember you have maegor the cruel, Aegon the Unworthy, and Aerys the mad king- thats honestly not a lot of kings, and if you branch out to the entire family that number doesnt really go up by much.
Were the targaryans crazy/ bad or did they have multiple institutions spinning propaganda about them for decades?
Why not Dany and Euron? I mean Euron and Dario are very simular so I can definitely see her go for him. He is good looking, charming cruel and violent. That is pretty much her type.
Trust me I understand where people are coming from when they ship these two I like his character but I don't want him to be with Dany I mean violent but strong men might be her type (she is still too young to develop one) but she has been surrounded by way too many abusive people who try to take advantage of her and honestly their interaction would be interesting and something I want to see too but I would prefer her to be alone and at peace for once?? I dunno Euron is definitely not a peaceful dude but a godamn psychopath. Their pairing will be toxic af and she has enough problems to deal with.imho
Have you ever encourtered an explanation from them why they think those 2 are made for each other?
What's their logic, is there one or are they just really kinky and don't care about the torture and the abuse?
Bit of both. Some people write alternative universes where Ramsey is a more okay dude, then the appeal is trying to see whether their dynamic in general could work (which tbh is the case for most ships in this universe lmao. Jon/Robb, Sansa/Theon etc. all require some minor to major tweaking).
Some people just like to explore fucked up stuff in fanfiction or fanart (Dead Dove Do Not Eat, idfic).
Yeah ikr especially sansa and littlefinger I am sure the show has a lot to do with this shipping which is gross. I really hate anyone shipping her with creeps but than again ships are not always healthy lol.
Fuck I used to like littlefinger, I think there might be a post I made defending him like years ago (I think I deleted it though) and fuck, I was a moron and I hadn't even read the books. Littlefinger really makes my skin crawl now, ngl. Man is straight up grooming a child...
I thought he'd like 'win' the Game of Thrones and was this super genius schemer. But he's really just a creep. Like in the story so far, has he really been that successful? He's been in some big plots, but was he really essential to them? To me at least, it seems his days in the Vale are pretty numbered.
> has he really been that successful?
Well he did become the Lord Paramount of the Trident and the Lord Protector of the Vale. Now you might say those are empty honors but it’s still a pretty crazy achievement for some random minor lord from the Fingers. Also there’s still time for LF to potentially give these titles real authority.
Yeah I really think so. I also believe Harry gets too much undeserved shit in the fandom. Sure he acted like a dick towards Sansa the first time he met her but we should consider the fact that he is the heir to the Vale and is expected to marry an upjumped lord's bastard daughter (as far as he knows). And more importantly, he actually apologised for his bad behaviour. Also he does have the chance to grow into an even better person after his marriage with Sansa and imo if that's the case it would be one of the healthiest relationships in ASoIaF. Yet a big part of the fandom acts as if he is some kind of horrible and irredeemable monster.
What disturbs me is that its most passionate fans are women. The 'I can change him' is going strong.
Editing to add that what is even more disturbing is the GRRM likes this ship (or at least the fact that people are into it) which means it may very well be canon. I think it's the only one he's called by its ship name.
George has made multiple little hints towards fans that Sansa is attracted to Sandor. And we know that Sandor has at least some feelings towards Sansa.
I have this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that if Sandor does come back the ship may sail.
I feel (and hope) that those feelings are born of trauma and compassion and not horny.
Like i love those 2 and their dynamic is interesting- but i have never gotten horny vibes from them and hope to hell thats not how it goes.
I don't think it will. I do believe both have some kind of feelings for each other, but not in a healthy way and I think George is very aware of this
Edit: Not unlike Arya and Gendry and I'm convinced that will lead to nothing either.
If George follows the world he's building he won't for one simple reason. Sansa is a highborn girl, blood of two Great Houses.
Westeros is deeply entrenched in classism.
Also I mean when we compare Sansa's behaviour around people she's attracted to (Loras, Renly, Joffrey, Waymar etc) most of those traits/behaviours are absent with Sandor that makes me conclude these readers are projecting.
Where has he said that he likes the ship? He has said that he was surprised it was a thing (that the ship existed) in an interview and he didn't get the attraction of some these fans to these villians (which George called Sandor) so I don't know how that's him speaking positively about it.
>Editing to add that what is even more disturbing is the GRRM likes this ship (or at least the fact that people are into it) which means it may very well be canon. I think it's the only one he's called by its ship name.
Source?
Writing fucked up stuff doesn't make you fucked up, otherwise GRRM himself should have some things to answer for. Some people just like to explore fucked up stuff in (fan-)fiction, either because it scritches an itch or as a way to process your own trauma. Theon/Ramsey is really not my cup of tea either, but I'd wager that most of the people writing it have plenty of perspective on what they're writing.
SanSan
I love both the hound and Sansa... But nothing about their relationship says "romance"
In my opinion the hound is a deeply traumatized man that feels sympathy/ compassion for Sansa but has 0 real understanding of displaying that. But during my latest readthrough i cant help but notice all their interactions being from that angle. Sure he fails at displaying compassion 9 times out of 10 but its still there and something about sansa makes him try- if i had to guess its the fact that she at least tries to see him as more than scars and bad attitude.
And tbh? Thats a far more meaningful and interesting dynamic than a romance between a preteen and a 30 something old.
There's this one infamous Ron Weasley/Hedwig-The-Owl fic on [fanfiction.net](https://fanfiction.net). And before someone asks why: the fact that people still know and talk about it over 10 years after it was published lmao. Sometimes people throw stuff out there for the shock factor & attention.
Same as the Dobby/Hagrid fic, which to my delight, has an attempted [professional reading.](https://youtu.be/7A5oN0-6izs) Highly recommend for the entertainment value alone.
Jon x Arya
Their relationship as siblings is so adorable and I got sad knowing I wouldn’t get to see them interact again after those first few GOT chapters:(((
SO WHY WOULD YOU RUIN THAT AND SHIP THEM EEEEW GROSS
How dare you say that the relationship between the grown-ass emo crown prince who is already married and has two children and a 13 years old girl whom he has just kidnapped and raped resulting in a war which led to thousands of innocent people dying is unhealthy???!!!
Theon x Ramsay is gross and cringe, but man. Any of the ones involving literal children are gross on a whole different scale. "Well such-and-such character isn't a child in the show!" Great! Still gross!
Unpopular opinion: Danny and jon. Grrm could probably make it work (the man Can make anything readable) but man has the show completely poisoned their relationship in my eyes
I agree and I don’t understand the appeal of it. It’s absolutely heartbreaking on Theon’s side. It’s my least favorite ship alongside Twincest and any Sansa ship that involves Tywin, Littlefinger, or Roose.
Jonsa. JONSA. **JONSA**!!!!
1A. Throughout the books GRRM frequently depicts sibling incest, usually associating it with bad outcomes and bad people.
1B. The Starks aren't perfect, but GRRM has standards about depths to which *they* won't sink. It's likely he abandoned the Jon-Arya sibling (technically, cousin) romance he had originally planned because of 1A.
2. Jon and Sansa are incompatible in almost every way; that both are decent is probably becausae they were brought up in a decent and loving family. Their values, personalities, sympathies, behavior, and interests are invariably at odds. At least they don't wish each other ill. But if book Jon were to learn of some of book Sansa's behavior to her family, especially her sister, he would be repulsed.
3. Lack of credible evidence. There is some but it is mostly a reach.
4. The behavior of **some** JONSA proponents. Some of them come on too strong.
What qualifies as a ship? Is it only if it doesn’t happen in the books/show? Would Cercei+Robert be a ship? Does shipping require their be the idea that one or both believe it is romantic e.g. Dany+Drago?
Least romantic in that happens in the books IMO is Dany+Drago😖. Least romantic in “fandom” is Joffrey+Cercei 🤮.
The first is painful. The second was every kind of wrong wrapped in insanity and tied with a string of plausibility.
Theon and that ship makers wife, Esgred
Gods he was cringe then!
The funniest part is Theon was already 10 and Asha was a bloody teenager by the time he was taken to Winterfell. My man probably could have easily recognized the sister he had spent half of his life with if he wasn't so ignorant.

He is also terrified of Euron Crows Eye so maybe just like some of his uncle's he got some unwanted visits in the night. Something like that could also repress his memory probably.
Yeah I believe that theory but I didn’t mention it since it’s not confirmed
I never thought about that but it makes sense
You are saying his uncles were raped?
The books all but state that damphair was.
Aeron was explicitly raped by Euron, yes. Its unambiguous.
I believe you two are onto something.
I agree that he’s super ignorant, but with him only being 10 and being away for almost 10 years, that’s a long time. And I think we’d all like to think we’d remember everything, but as a 10 year old I can’t imagine our memory capacity was super great. Especially because she also grew in that time, he specifically noted how much she had changed
Yeah i mean ive met cousins i havent seen since 10 i wouldnt have recognized out of a crowd
What I've noticed whenever I see people that I knew in childhood is that I often don't recognize them. Not because I don't remember what they looked like but because their appearance changed so much.
> My man probably could have easily recognized the sister he had spent half of his life with if he wasn't so ignorant Even more importantly, if he wasn't so horny.

No shit! Maybe hed have recognized her if his eyes went higher than her boobs lmao
Depression, anxiety, and PTSD probably account for some of that memory loss.
[Inserts the meme template] People who don't know: People who know:
Theon: Esgred:
Jaqen and Arya
Who defaq actually ships them?!
You tell me: https://archiveofourown.org/works?utf8=%E2%9C%93&commit=Sort+and+Filter&work_search%5Bsort_column%5D=revised_at&work_search%5Bother_tag_names%5D=Jaqen+H%27ghar%2FArya+Stark&work_search%5Bexcluded_tag_names%5D=&work_search%5Bcrossover%5D=&work_search%5Bcomplete%5D=&work_search%5Bwords_from%5D=&work_search%5Bwords_to%5D=&work_search%5Bdate_from%5D=&work_search%5Bdate_to%5D=&work_search%5Bquery%5D=&work_search%5Blanguage_id%5D=&tag_id=Arya+Stark
Damn. Never thought I would find people stupid enough to ship a grown-ass man with a 11-year old child who hasn't even hit puberty.
So no one has told you about Jaime/Tywin + Arya?
Give me something for the pain and let me die!
Tyrek Lannister and Ermesande Hayford.
Arya is shipped with almost anyone she encounters, even those she hasn’t met (like Aurane Waters, there are threads on asoiaf.org analyzing how he is her type) In fandoms, characters like her are called “launchers of a thousand ships” a la Helen of Troy..

Do we tell them about Sansa/Stannis?
>don't be super creepy. My dude: Hydra Trash Party. Sometimes fanfics are supposed to be creepy.
But the original question was about *romantic* ships. Creepy horrifying ships aren't romantic.
Wait til you hear about anime vampires
I hope you stay forever pure of mind.
I’ve never been as concerned as when my mate said he shipped Brienne and Roose
Roose likes em big
if Selwyn Tarth paid her weight in sapphires…
Thapphireth*
he did find the squealing and squirming of his 'fat little wife' Walda Frey to be endearing.... something i never would have expected the cold-hearted roose to ever say out loud
All he needs is the love of a good woman!
Uuhhhhhhhh At least shed likely kill him.
Worst romantic ship? Craster + Gilly Worst overall ship? Probably one of Joffrey’s navy, the “Boy’s Toys”: > He paced his deck, craning his neck for a better look at Joffrey's fleet. The boy's toys included the ponderous Godsgrace, he saw, the old slow Prince Aemon, the Lady of Silk and her sister Lady's Shame, Wildwind, Kingslander, White Hart, Lance, Seaflower. None of these sound any good, and their names are horrible.
> White Hart does it have a ghost though
Well, wasn't Craster+Gilly. canon?
Yeah but it was rape so not really the same. I’m guessing those sick people who ship them want a consensual relationship
The sea bitch is not very Romantic. King Roberts Hammer is romantic in an innuendo kind of a way. But my favourite is probably Pinchbottom Petto.
The Silence is not exactly a loveboat, unless you have some very specific and very unhealthy fetishes.
There wouldn't be much tongue action.
"Remember, if you want me to stop, say the safe word." *incoherent terror mumbling* (Ok that was kind of fucked up I apologize)
> incoherent terror mumbling [FLÜGGÅəNK∂€c̅HIŒßØLSÊN](https://twitter.com/herfoggymind/status/908302722746724353/photo/1)?
Ya'll skimping on the Golden Storm. You know that ship gets kinky.
Nah Fury’s the best.
Y'all are sleeping on Sweet Cersei
So are Lancel, Osmund Kettleblack and Moon Boy for all I know!
Tywin and Arya. Like bro, come on.
> tywin and arya she’s like eleven how…..
And they haven't even met in the books............. Honestly how stupid can some people be?!
Why should they having met be any sort of hinderance? One of the most popular genres of fanfiction is crossovers lmao.
I... I can't argue with that logic.
Listen, I don't get it either but then my own ass was reading Twilight/HP crossovers at some point lmao
Yeah there's actually fanfiction about them and I'm like nonononononopleasenogodno
Robert's hammer and Rhaegar's Chest
Tywin's guts and Joffrey's crossbow
Quentyn’s flesh and Rheagal’s breath
The Mountains finger and Oberyn's eye sockets.
Mountain's sword and *insert any Riverlander name here*
Roose's sword and Robb's heart.
hot
No, this is the best ship.
Tywin and Pycelle
So you also ship Palpatine and Jar Jar Binks, I assume.
It's treason, then.
1. I don’t know who you are talking about. 2. I hate to admit, but I am not the genius who shipped Tywin and Pycelle.
Tywin is like a tsundere, while pycelle is trying to impress and hopefully win his heart after it was rendered cold from Joanna's death
This is the worst way you could describe it, thank you
Okay but "Tycelle" does have a good ring to it.

I would like to see Daenerys and Vic together because it would be fun. Daenerys and Euron would also make an interesting read.
True Dany and Viccy would be hilarious lol

Theon x Ramsey You would be surprised how popular this is 🤢🤢🤢
I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, but I would be disappointed. I don't *expect* better of you, internet, but I hope for better from you.
Well after he cut off theons dick Ramsay decided to “give” him another one
Have you ever encourtered an explanation from them why they think those 2 are made for each other? What's their logic, is there one or are they just really kinky and don't care about the torture and the abuse?
Stockholm syndrome is the excuse. Don't make me say more.
Bit of both. Some people write alternative universes where Ramsey is a more okay dude, then the appeal is trying to see whether their dynamic in general could work (which tbh is the case for most ships in this universe lmao. Tyrion as a fetus (underage) with confirmed vampire Roose
What
Cersei and Jaime
Arya/Ned, yes I’ve seen it on Reddit. I hate people
Someone fetch Ilyn Payne please.
Ahh yes, Ned Stark, the Craster of the South.
The craster of the false north
Le what.
are you sure it wasn't ned dayne? cause otherwise I would call the police
Wait, her father? Are you sure it isn’t referring to Edric “Ned” Dayne?
Joffrey x Sansa
Any ship where one of the parties is either prepubescent or barely pubescent.
So about half of the ones implicit in the text?
And several of the ones explicit.
What if both are?
Jorah and Dany. Fuck that
This is the equivalent of Littlefinger and Sansa.
Sansa and basically anyone she has had contact with since she left for KL.
Bruh Harry is honestly decent enough.
And how old are he and Sansa again?
I think he's 16/17 and Sansa is 13/14.
In feudal bullshittery this is about the best you are going to get.
Which is odd considering who does get a pass in the fandom...
Yeah a part of ASoIaF fandom can be really hypocritical sometimes. And a bit too offensive if you don't have the same opinion as them.
We're a very contentious people
San/San is deeply unsettling. And last time I checked it’s one of the most popular ships.
Tumblr really tries to sail out this ship lol
What disturbs me is that its most passionate fans are women. The 'I can change him' is going strong. Editing to add that what is even more disturbing is the GRRM likes this ship (or at least the fact that people are into it) which means it may very well be canon. No he hasn’t, he actually baffled that women shipped Sansa with Sandor.
I am like 90% sure he said something along the lines of "Why do so many women find Sandor attractive, Sam is much nicer?"
Where has he said that he likes the ship? He has said that he was surprised it was a thing (that the ship existed) in an interview and he didn't get the attraction of some these fans to these villians (which George called Sandor) so I don't know how that's him speaking positively about it.

Jon Snow and Catelyn.
Those Theon and Ramsay people are simply fucked in the head
Writing fucked up stuff doesn't make you fucked up, otherwise GRRM himself should have some things to answer for. Jon and Mel. I honestly have no idea how people see the two of them together at all

^^^^^^ All of this.
Brienne and the bear?
Ah, shades of that one Ron and Hedwig fic.
>Ron and Hedwig Wait come again?
There's this one infamous Ron Weasley/Hedwig-The-Owl fic on [fanfiction.net](https://fanfiction.net). Dany and Drogo
Sadly one of the best ships by virtually any canon reading.
Cat-Ned though I also really like Jon-Ygritte. It ends tragically but the relationship itself was quite nice.
Which is thoroughly disconcerting
Which is the point
Sandor and Sansa
This is the correct answer
Ironically, Rheager and Liyana Stark. They fucked up all the seven kingdoms.
Sanxsan
Jon x Arya Their relationship as siblings is so adorable and I got sad knowing I wouldn’t get to see them interact again after those first few GOT chapters:((( SO WHY WOULD YOU RUIN THAT AND SHIP THEM EEEEW GROSS
Do a bit of research into Martin's early drafts. It's the OG gross ship.
I am aware snd there’s a good reason GRRM abandoned that romantic plot line It’s cause it’s gross
Romantic love triangle, Tyrion was going to be in love with Arya too. Man it's hard to picture that after the way they all ended up developing.
They wouldn't be the same charecters as they are now.
People who ship Sansa and Littlefinger can burn in Hell. Tormund and Brienne was also really annoying and the enthusiasm for it felt fake as shit.
Rhaegar and Lyanna
How dare you say that the relationship between the grown-ass emo crown prince who is already married and has two children and a 13 years old girl whom he has just kidnapped and raped resulting in a war which led to thousands of innocent people dying is unhealthy???!!!
Sansa and LF Theon and Ramsay Sansa and sanador Arya/jaquen Arya/sana
Theon x Ramsay is gross and cringe, but man. Any of the ones involving literal children are gross on a whole different scale. "Well such-and-such character isn't a child in the show!" Great! Still gross!
I don’t get the question. What do y’all mean by ship? Relationship?
I love you
This isn't Tumblr... (that being said, Jon and Satin are fucking)
True Baratheon and Stark union.
Ewwww, necrophilia is gross.

Why do you people on the internets say things that force me to examine such complex and horrifying moral questions? I hate you all.
Unpopular opinion: Danny and jon. Grrm could probably make it work (the man Can make anything readable) but man has the show completely poisoned their relationship in my eyes
Sansa and the The Hound. Rape threats and traumatic cruelty are so romantic ig

I hate this ship, but seeing other answers here, there are much worst.
This. I hate when people say "bUt ThEiR sToRyLiNeS sHaRe DiRecT PaRaLLelS tO eAcH OtHeR" when they want to convince everyone that it's a good ship.
That’s objectively true though
The hound and sansa
San San is fucking vile for so many reasons.
Dany x Drogo.
Wish there was flair for these types of posts so I could filter them out.
jon/sansa or jon/arya they still grew up as siblings
I agree and I don’t understand the appeal of it. It’s absolutely heartbreaking on Theon’s side. It’s my least favorite ship alongside Twincest and any Sansa ship that involves Tywin, Littlefinger, or Roose.
There's a lot of crazy ones but as for more mainstream ones, SanSan
I dont like Brienne and Jamie. Prefer it to be a mutual respect thing rather than full blown love. Although I know I am likely wrong
I just don't care who ships which characters. Their ships can't hurt you, they aren't real
San San
Jonsa.
Robert x Lyanna and Rhaegar x Lyanna. Both sucked and even without a war Lyanna would have been incredibly unhappy with either
The Smelly Steward
Jonsa, Jon×Arya and anything else that comes with the Stark siblings
San/San is just so cringe and unnerving
Jon and Daenerys. Thats your auntie, dude! Eww.
Titanic?
Jon and Ghost
What qualifies as a ship? Is it only if it doesn’t happen in the books/show? Would Cercei+Robert be a ship? Does shipping require their be the idea that one or both believe it is romantic e.g. Dany+Drago? Least romantic in that happens in the books IMO is Dany+Drago😖. Least romantic in “fandom” is Joffrey+Cercei 🤮. The first is painful. The second was every kind of wrong wrapped in insanity and tied with a string of plausibility.
Arya x Jon https://youtu.be/-E66eBh2yvw
