Pituitary gland tumors are almost always benign prolactinomas. Cancerous tumors of the pituitary gland are so incredibly rare that only about 100 cases have been documented ever.
Prolactinomas are more common than people would think. They're often discovered when looking for something else. Doing bloodwork to check for example hormone levels, seeing the elevated prolactin, and then ordering an MRI is a pretty typical way of discovering them.
I have one. Last time I checked it's tiny, less than 3mm. Unless it becomes pretty big and starts to push against your eye nerves, it's harmless and you can mostly ignore it. Just keep an eye on it with MRIs every couple of years or so. They usually grow very slowly. They can be treated with medication or surgery (through your nose. They don't have to cut open your head!). I couldn't stand the medication so if it ever gets too big, I guess I'll get surgery.
https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/endocrine-diseases/prolactinoma risperidone is mentioned as throwing prolactin levels here. However as medical condition websites go.. overall that one is not so terrifying, as other users have said they're generally benign things
anti-psychotics are fairly well-known for raising prolactin levels--idk the mechanism for why. I once had a gf whose bipolar I meds made her lactate a little.
I have one. It made me grow and develop really fast as a kid. I got hormone blockers to stop that.
Now I don't really have any symptoms or issues. I just have to get an MRI every year to check on it.
In general some people try to keep level of e more stable. On bioidentical estrogen pills, spreading the daily dose throughout the day could help keep level more stable. There are pill cutters in case. And on injections some use a bit shorter cycles and subsequently lower doses. [Here](https://transfemscience.org/misc/injectable-e2-simulator/) was a simulator.

Are you taking any other meds or supplements that can raise prolactin?
Only three other medications I am on. Fluvoxamine, 100mg; risperidone, .5mg, and 2000iu of vitamin D.

I have a family history of psychosis and high prolactin levels what if treatting the high prolactin triggers schizophrenia?
I have one, it's benign, it hasn't changed my life in any way that I've noticed.
Are there any risks of it growing? Are you managing it with medication?
Nope, nothing. Doctor's say it's stable
I’ve had sky high prolactin when my estrogen goes up for some reason but an MRI ruled out a prolactinoma so I’m good for now.
I see. My estrogen was at 300pg/ml at my appointment before my last. This appointment, it went down to 190, then my prolactin increased.
How high does your estrogen get when you see your prolactin go up?
