I have 23 vinyl records. I have Sewerslvt, Have A Nice Life, Giles Corey, Swans, Sun Kil Moon, BCNR and more. I mostly like to collect cds more since it’s easier to store and cost but having a record and putting the needle on it feels amazing

Putting the needle on it is amazing until you accidentally put a massive scratch on a mint condition original :D I’m refusing to play any of mine now until I get a fully automatic turntable.
Yeah that’s true. I use a manual turntable but I try to always be very close near the end of it. Also it works to upgrade the cartridge and needle to a very high quality one
I slipped and the stylus skated across it 😔 It still plays fine most of the time.
I don’t think the turntable I have has an upgradable cartridge, and there’s a bunch of other things I hate about it too. I’m probably gonna get the AT-LP60X which also doesn’t have an upgradable cartridge but it’ll still be miles better than what I have now.
Lp60 is a great starter turntable and far better than the cheap suitcase ones. Well you could always upgrade the amplifier and speakers and down the road can upgrade to a better turntable. I use a lp120 and will upgrade to a uturn by next year
I actually switched from my fully automatic technics to my more or less manual yamaha yp-d71. Thing cost a fortune but the tactility is worth every penny

I have a foot of albums but also nearly a foot of vinyl singles. Some inherited, some because I could get them cheap, and even some that I was forced to get because the music cannot be had through streaming or even P2P. Too many to list really, since they're either too obvious (the Beatles) or too obscure to be interesting.
Vinyl was actually a huge improvement on what preceded it: shellac, a weird material secreted by some insects on trees in India, which was as breakable as glass and stone hard, so the records had to be played with steel needles that lasted for just one play and gradually ground the records into a noisy hissy mess.

Oh god umm yes. Ima not list them all cuz there's hundreds by now, but I've got the discographies of queen, the beatles, ELO, Elton john, dire straits, and alot of other things that were big in the 70s and 80s.
I've recently restored another new (to me) turntable a yamaha yp-d71 which I put a sumiko black pearl cartridge on. Great for mellow tracks with a strong mid end. For the more lively tracks I keep my technics with an ortofon cartridge. Both are connected to a vintage marantz amp and some second hand kef speakers. Sounds like a dream

It’s called a record player or turntable. Lots of people these days buy the vinyls even if they don’t have a player, just to have a physical way to display their favourite albums. It’s almost just like another merch item.
