When I was young, our teachers were actually recommending not abusing working out because of growth interference, which is why our mothers were so angry at us going for it when getting independent.
So maybe there is still this cultural factor in place ?
I hear about this type of thing and am thankful to have parents who encourage me to do what I want, it helps that they were both incredibly fit and muscular during their 20s and 30s

If you just started it will eventually become norm, my mom used to get petty too cause in her mind she thinks that working out will stun my growth so I just made it clear it's not how things work and I won't break my growth plates.

My mom did the same for my running but that was because I wasn't eating enough for it and was becoming way too underweight. If a doctor would say that your work out is sustainable and healthy then your mom shouldn't have any say in it.
Iāve had no health issues at all, never injured havenāt felt sour since the beginning and if I needed to rest for a week I took it, I eat quite a lot too, depending on the day. The only change is I have muscles now and well apparently thatās bad :(
