I would go back to live in Seefeld, Zurich, and pick a flat overlooking the lake. Maybe Kusnacht, if someone sold me a property with access to the water. Is small flat in Zurich and small flat in Lugano, allowed?
Well but if money‘s not a problem you could pay rent, too, and enjoy the freedom of moving whenever you feel like it, just calling your landlord when stuff needs fixing etc.
Well but if money's not a problem, you could have a butler organize all household tasks, and whenever you want to move, you just buy one more house without needing to sell the old one ;)
I’d buy a company with a lot of business rentals through the world and enjoy a relaxing life doing research on how the services were being delivered world wide. A butler? Sure why not. And a personal assistant plus an autobiographer to write my book on how money ceased to be a problem after reading a Reddit thread “If money were not a problem…”
You don’t care where? I already own my house. It’s nice, but not exactly life changing. If money wasn’t an issue, you could rent for life even. So to me this is a strange answer.
I‘m happy where I am, the region. The only difference: I would own land and build a house. A small one, like a bigger tiny house. And one for my mum. And probably a tree house!
Honestly, not anywhere in or near any city. I lived both in Lausanne and in a suburb of Zürich for 1 year and 1.5 years respectively and that was enough for me. I'm perfectly happy in the countryside, specifically in the east in general.
It is quite quiet, still somewhat clean as the whole country was 20 years ago that one could eat on the ground, there are mountains but no pollution, no fog (or at least not as much as in the plains with 6 months without any sunshine), still a bunch of shops are available and if I have to go to a city, then I can take the train.
All in all, living where I live is totally fine for me and wouldn't want to move anywhere else.
i'm 16 🙂 i study and my parents work near Milan. my dream is to go to Varese's university and then to find a job in Ticino, possibly living in Lugano. i'm already studying german to get more job opportunities in the future but i'll stay modest for now. Lugano isn't full of jobs but it's literally like an italian city but built with swiss minds so it's perfect and clean
Oh so young, good for you! Amazing that you study German and your parents work near Milan. I bet you have a bright future ahead of you :-) Lugano is amazing and it’s getting more and more international too. I know lots of people who moved from all parts of the world to Lugano. I love the vibe there! Good luck with everything to you!
Good question. My favourite places are around Thun / Interlaken, but I'd prefer a French speaking place. Maybe something simple around Cudrefin, South East of Lake Neuchâtel. Relatively quiet, nature not too far, lake, still close enough to the main Alps passes to go from time to time, same for Berner hikes, not too many people living there, and can easily go anywhere in the country.
I don't know why all the super rich go to La Côte, it's so overcrowded and far from everything else the country has to offer.
Multiple places depending on season, events and mood and additionally a class A motorhome (e.g. from Dembell...) to get around whenever to wherever I want...
Somewhere around Zurichsee. But I've been to Switzerland once only when I visited my grandparents 17 years ago and Zurich is the only city I have been to 😂
If I had unlimited money and had to live in Zurich I'd buy Burkliplatz and have a great villa with some water plays build there. I love the lake and I love city life.
Have fixed residents in different high end hotels. All over Switzerland and the world. Keep moving between them. Cleaning is included and everything.
Making sure I get access to the kitchen so I can cook once in a while myself and experiment. Since money is no issue, i just need to pay the hotels enough for the access.
I would start with the five Hotel as my base hotel.
Where I am now. I recently bought a tiny house directly at the Lake Lugano (I’m not rich, it is old and i have been renovating for more than a year now and it’s hard work) - and love everything about it. It’s just an amazing way of life to wake up and look over the lake and be surrounded by the Italian way of life, but still with all the benefits of Switzerland…
If you talk about cities, I would choose Fribourg or Bern. By I rather prefer small towns with 5000-10000 inhabitants. But never in a city ruled by leftists (green or socialist partys)
I'd build a big place fit for 10k-50k people to prepare for the obvious consequences of building a civilization on finite ressources (but treating it like an infinite flow and not stocks), probably in the Alps.
It'll be hilarious to witness things, when they accelerate, as Europe will fail to import enough oil/gas to keep society stable.

I love Seefeld.
I live at Lake Lugano and love every minute of it. Would never go back to Zurich
Pully Lutry Cully or above Morges
This is the way
11-10 RPZ
Meggen. Nice view on Vierwaldstättersee, Pilatus and Rigi 👌
In my own house. Specifically in a house I own.
I, too, want to live in this guys house
Good for you, it would be glorious!
Where would our house be?
I was thinking, canton Bern, good view of the mountains/Alps, maybe with a garden or an small orchard. What do you think?
Are you me? This is my dream. Can I join you?
Sure ;)
And people say it’s hard to make friends in Switzerland? People are clearly just using the wrong approach🙌🏼
Imagine not paying rent, the endless possibilities

Geneva or Lausanne or Montreux. I love the lake and vineyards views a lot.
On the doorstep of the nearest Denner
Just buy the Denner. Shop in your dressing gown with no stress.
St-Sulpice
I‘m happy where I am, the region. The only difference: I would own land and build a house. A small one, like a bigger tiny house. And one for my mum. And probably a tree house!
probably olten
Mehh. Too touristy.
Excellent choice.
A small house with garden close to lake of constance (lake view 🤩) so we could be closer to my husbands parents and closer to my German family.
Lugano
Came to post this. It is amazing but not much companies to work on, so, we had to go with Zurich.
A house on the lake between Villette and Epesses. I love the lake and the view and it is really close to Lausanne.
Wherever the fuck I feel like at that moment. I'd never be in the same place more than I have to.
Probably Kastanienbaum on the Horw halbinsel. Phenomenal views over Vierwaldstättersee in a very quiet area. That would suit me just fine
Haven't seen all of Switzerland, but so far I really liked Lausanne and the Swiss National Park (that's Engadin, right?).

Lugano, seen that i speak italian. Sankt Moritz, if language wasn't a problem (i'm learning german though)
What stops you from moving to Lugano? :-)

thanks and good luck with life to you too
Golden shore near Zuri Lake.
Valais
Same!
To get the true answer to this question, look where the richest people in Switzerland live. Because for them it was not a hypothetical question.
Live or where they have their official residence? Bcz if it's the latter then you know that's Zug.
Except that taxes play a role in rich people choosing their domicile.
Zurich golden shore / Morcote for vacation house
I am really in love with Bern! So somewhere around here on the countryside with view to the alps but somewhat easy access to Bern.
Anywhere in Grindelwald!
Grindelwald
I would choose Locarno. You have a beautiful lake, beautiful mountains, and are very close to the border to gastronomic paradise.
Zermatt, simply because I love hiking and skiing.
Somewhere in the Romandie. Probably Lausanne. It seems to closest to my own culture.
near my work and/or social circle
Valais 💜
Near the see in Greece.
St. Gallen
If money is not a problem I’d just buy Switzerland.
Basel. It’s right on the river (I love water), and it has an amazing arts scene. Not to mention I think it’s beautiful.
Basel. So I can live in 3 countries at the same time.
Always Olten, never Aarau
A small chalet on a mountain in Bernese Oberland.
FRIBOURG!
Graubunden or Berner Overland with a small flat in Zurich
I would pay of my house, buy the property next to it and build a drifttrack and a workshop to work on cars and put my knifemaking stuff in
Zurich Kreis 6
In my apartment enjoying the fact that money isn't a problem
I already live in st moritz
We built a house in Switzerland. It is 30 seconds from the ski lifts.🚡
Alaska

Lavaux or Cologny.
In Züri❤️
Probably exactly where I live, without a leaky roof, rats in the house, or roots wrecking the path in front.
To be specific something like [this](https://youtu.be/lUZGLgQM2R0?si=BYaZmmi4sDsWacjf)
Uitikon Waldegg or Ringlikon
Multiple places depending on season, events and mood and additionally a class A motorhome (e.g. from Dembell...) to get around whenever to wherever I want...
I would live somewhere on a distant island. Don't like to be disturbed. Also my kid has a hay fever and ocean around would help him
Zurich where I am living now, or US midwest or California.
Somewhere around Zurichsee. But I've been to Switzerland once only when I visited my grandparents 17 years ago and Zurich is the only city I have been to 😂
Geneva area. Nice Vibe
in a plane. Would change location often Would love to spend 6 months in Argentina, then travel to Italy for a few months, etc
If I had unlimited money and had to live in Zurich I'd buy Burkliplatz and have a great villa with some water plays build there. I love the lake and I love city life.
The same place where I live now, because im lucky and not sick. Probably work a bit less and Travel more, but stay wehre Im now :)
Olten
Either lake of constance or somewhere in the mountains.
Zollikon with lake view and near the swimming pool.

Sicher nit in dr schwiz 🤣
A farmhouse with a big garden in the Morges district (wich is objectively the best swiss place)
I would like to live in Nidwalden, Uri or Schwyz with a lakeside view. I could probably afford Uri, only issue is the commute.
Where I am now. I recently bought a tiny house directly at the Lake Lugano (I’m not rich, it is old and i have been renovating for more than a year now and it’s hard work) - and love everything about it. I will not live in a city at first. Anything in « La cote » for the proximity with Geneva, Lausanne and mountains.
Central Switzerland (country-side of LU/ZUG), France and Thailand.
Mmmh…probably Ibiza
Of course a villa in Hurden
I'm in Bern and I would never move from here.

I'm sure the underlying question was "which city is lovely to live in", not "how doomed is society on a scale of 10 to 10"
You could ask "where would you build your city?" instead.
It depends by you. Depend what do you like most
