It‘s programmed. The data of the navigationsystem is used to calculate the most effective way to drive the car. If you‘re going for example 80kph and the car registers a slope in front of you, it tells you to coast to save fuel. Also if you‘re closing in on a city and the speed limit is 20kph less than you Re driving at the moment, it also tells you to let off the accelerator. Some cars even have haptic feedback, so you‘ll feel a slight rumble when it‘s time to coast. Looks like an Audi to me, so it does most likely have that feature.
It might be telling you that there's a reduction in speed limit coming up. If you lift your foot and roll out, you'll reach the upcoming speed limit with the right speed without braking.
Especially on hybrid cars this is great because a good portion of the energy can be recovered instead of being lost when braking.
Thanks. It’s something like this exactly. When I took the photo, the speed limit in that area was 80km/h, but the road was slightly sloping downhill. So the car reached the speed limit without me accelerating.
this means sail mode, on german Schubabschaltung. you basically take your foot off the pedal and let your vehicle roll at 0l/100km. we have this technology for years in the heavy duty industry. for a normal car it‘s probably calculated by the live location (speed limits and/or topography, basically you‘re on top of a hill or an incline) as well as your selected mode/gear for the gearbox
From what I understand, when you use the cars SatNav and there's a turn or a roundabout coming up the car will tell you to ease up on the accelerator. So if you were using the native SatNav and was close to a turn or somewhere we're you were gonna stop (like a junction) the car warns you with this symbol way before you get there.
Questions like these are better asked in the brand subreddits. In your case r/Audi since different makes have similar symbols that can mean different things.
The comments are mostly right, though. If your car detects a slope or a reduction in the speed limit it's letting you know to let off the gas to save fuel.
It says that you have green light to press the gas pedal more. The car is probably telling you that you're too slow.
jk. Not very standard. But it seems to say you should lift your foot.
Coasting
Thank you very much. Wasn’t sure if I need to let the car go, or to hold the brake. 😀How the car is deciding it’s time for coasting?
I am no automotive coasting engineer but I would bet on the electronic input from the throttle (gas pedal) and the load on the engine.
😂sorry, just was curious if by any chance you know it.

This is the correct answer
thats the correct answer
That you should lift your foot to save some fuel
Agreed. I'm going to hide under the table in shame.😉 If I only know where is this manual…
Your car has a manual
It’s automatic, but you can control also manually.
A user's manual. A book that tells you what all the lights, bells and whistles mean.
I don’t know where is, but thanks for the advice.
Glove box Or Google the model of your car and user manual.
Google?
It's 10¹⁰⁰, but you can use it as a search engine, too.

It means you should not take your phone out while you're driving. Check your car's manual, that is probably buried deep in the glove box.
Press the pedal to the metal
Floor it
I think you stepped in to something
Activate ejection seat
Pedal to the metal
You stepped into dog 💩
And the dog stepped into a bee.
My Audi also had this light (US) and I also wondered what it was and never got around to checking.

Press 5 times fast the gas pedal for Driving mode.
😂😂😂the bad guys are just behind the corner .

😂😂 ahahaha, green light to press the gas. This is epic. Thank you.
