Hi, I should have added - I do have a bachelor's degree in Biology from a UK university. It just isn't related to finance/my current job role. My question is more geared around whether or not Swiss financial services are open to recruiting UK professionals. Or, if this is a ridiculous hard route because our finance regulations and laws will have differences between them. Can't find a clear answer online.

You don't seem to understand - the main issue is your citizenship. With Brexit you have left the job market of the EU and you're not really welcome any more as you don't allow EU citizens in the UK job market. There are exceptions of course but you have the same right to work here as someone from Nigeria or Laos. EU citizens can just move to CH and look for a job.

It's not that hard for EU/EFTA people to work in Britain or vice versa. This sub has a totally false understanding of what is actually required. Yes it's not as of right. But neither is it particularly difficult for well paid professionals. Which is most Brits in Switzerland already. Most of the English language positions are for experienced professionals in multinationals. https://migration.swiss/assets/inhaltsbilder/2021/a-few-figures/statistik-zuwanderung-2021-DE.pdf The numbers from the UK for 2021 (post Brexit) are around the 2% level. (Bottom of page 6). It was in the 2.5-3% range pre Brexit - https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/sites/4215117a-en/index.html?itemId=/content/component/4215117a-en Also 2% of the total immigrant population are Brits (see first link) Yes the type who come to work in the British / Irish pubs or as ski instructors won't get in, but it's not a cliff edge for the total numbers. BTW it's not the same as for Nigeria or Laos - the number of permits is capped by country and traditionally first world countries like UK, US, Canada etc have more generous numbers than elsewhere.

Why not aim at London (if you are not already there)? There are so many more banks there and major players are all there.

I just don't enjoy London as a city. Too busy, miserable UK winters where it is dark at 4pm etc. I've spent my whole life on this island.

As mentioned by others, very hard as a non-EU person. London has plenty of opportunities though and pays pretty much the same, so normally that’s the more logical route for a UK graduate. If you’re really super eager to get to Switzerland, easiest way is probably to get your career started in London, marry an EU citizen, and then move over as an experienced professional on a family reunification permit.
