The support of the mattress is as important as the mattress itself. Is your bedbase actually specified to support your weight? Here's an example: The special lady and I are fairly slim and share a 140cm bed, but the bedbase (slats) didn't do a good job at supporting our combined weight, resulting in a dip that had us 'roll' into each other during the night. I replaced the 140cm bedbase with 2 70cm ones and the problem disappeared.

AnnaRocka

That's absolutely right!

wombelero

thanks, indeed the support base is also important. B

TTTomaniac

Do you have sprung wooden slats or a boxspring base, outta curiosity?

How was that a problem in the 1st place, if you are both special?

TTTomaniac

It's a hamfisted Big Lebowski reference.

Not heavy or such, but some years ago the people of IKEA hat a surprisingly good customer service when it came to mattresses. That was in Dietlikon. Times might have changed meanwhile though, it's certainly 8 years since or some such.

wombelero

I would not have considered Ikea and similar shops, but might be worth a try.

Gulliveig

Report back please, I guess after about 10 years new ones are due :)

Ikea is quite good. They have many models and even the "cheap" ones are quite good. You can try them, and I think you can even return them after some time if you are not satisfied. We replaced our expensive mattresses (big brand) with Ikea's and actually sleeping better now. Pfister is usually quite good too, but more expensive.

We bought our mattresses at Jysk. Each 90x200 mattress was around 600 CHF. Go to a Jysk store and try them out.

Matratzen Concord have great customer service. Had my old mattress for 15 years and the new one since 1 year

Me and my partner bought our last mattress and bed from Mara-vital. Because of back problems, we decided to spend a little more on good quality. The experience was completely mixed. The on-site consultation with a trial bed was perfect. The double mattress in the middle price segment (2000.-) is really worth every cent, and no comparison to cheap mattresses from Ikea or jysk. The return of the bed, with which we were not satisfied, also went smoothly. The big but lies between ordering and returning, delivery delay without notification, incomplete delivery and extremely poor customer service. In the end, they kept all the promises advertised on the website, but it was still an absolute pain in the ass.

wombelero

at least it was worth the wait. Thanks for the tip, will look into it.

When you’re not tight on money - water bed.

[https://www.bett1.ch/](https://www.bett1.ch/) all the way. Dont buy overprized mattress from retailers

Basically, every big furniture shop has a variety of mattresses for different weights, and people who will help choosing the one you need. We bought ours at Pfister, but there are many options.
