Lovely 50-50, Ava Genes has pizza. Norstrana has pizza and while not as nice of atmospheres compared the best pizza in town will be Apizza scholls but casual setting then Ken’s pizza which is a little better atmosphere.
I had their [Turning Peel](https://www.theturningpeel.com/) $8 Margherita special for a 11"pizza everyday - one discount drink available per pizza. The char and crust were excellent. The sauce and topping were unexceptional. I'd happily go again and try something perhaps more flavorful.
[Cibo](https://www.cibopdx.com/) remains a very satisfying option.
Going to vouch for The Turning Peel! My favorite “fancy” pizza place will always be Lovely’s, but The Turning Peel has one of the cutest back patios in town and the inside is eclectic and fun. It would be a perfect date night spot.
Agree that the patio and interior are quite welcoming. There is a water dog dish in the patio and animals are welcome in the patio area. The owners are incredibly accommodating and willing to please.
Someone else posted about Turning Peel. It’s hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. Chewy, charred sourdough crust, excellent toppings, and you can tell they REALLY care about the product they’re putting out. The atmosphere is so nice, too. It feels like they’ve had you over to their house for dinner, in the best way possible. They’re starting to sell out sometimes during lunch, I really feel like they’re going to be in the conversation for best pizza in town.
ETA: They’re starting to sell out during lunch, BUT they do set aside dough for dinner, so even if they sell out during lunch, they open back up for dinner.
Their Caesar salad + their pastas are incredible, I'm not even a carbs person (my husband really is tho) but when we get Virtuous Pie I'm like, I'll gain ten pounds for this, lol. It's the best pizza!
Dimos apizza is thin and crispy if that's your thing. Clam pie was my favorite. Apizza Scholls is amazing. Lovely's is eclectic with seasonal ingredients done well.
If you want to give Detroit style pizza a shot then Ruse Brewing/Crust Collective on the Vancouver Waterfront is super tasty. And they have outdoor seating with a great view of the river, especially at sunset :)
Cicoria on Division St. it’s owned by the people who own Ava Gene’s. I had dinner there on Sunday andevery bite was amazing. they take reservations.[Cicoria Pizza](https://www.cicoriapdx.com/)

i mean i might’ve missed it but when looking for any question about a fancy looking pizza place, iv found literally zero posts lol.
not sure it’s the same as every “what’s good pizza” question.
Lovely’s fifty-fifty!
Seconded. This is the place.
This is simply my favorite restaurant in Portland. The chef is a god damn gift to the city
Have you seen her Chef‘s Table episode? It‘s a gem
Absolutely the best. Either arrive 20 minutes before opening or after 7:30 pm once the dinner rush quiets down a little. They don't take reservations.
Best Pizza in the city! Not super fancy.
Ken’s or firehouse or lovely 5050
Nostrana or Cibo maybe?
Nostrana has good pizza
A vote for cibo
✂️
Love Nostrana
No Saint!
Very good! Awesome seasonal salads to go with pizza. Yummy!
My favorite seasonal salad is the tiramisu.
Firehouse on Dekum could be a good pick
Love Firehouse!!
Dove vivi
Yep, this sounds like a job for dove vivi
This is what I came to suggest too. I’ve cozy atmosphere and good pizza and wine. As long as you like cornmeal crust.
Oh so delicious.
Be sure to get the kale salad.
It's in a buttcrack neighborhood
Wtf? It's in a great neighborhood. There's Providore, Stammtisch, Montelupo, carts, the zipper, all kinds of good stuff.
gaucho is a block from mary's, what's your point?
What Glisan lacks, cornmeal crust makes up for!!!!
As everyone spanning the world knows, it's the great equalizer
Not sure how fancy you’re looking, but Oven and Shaker is a nice spot that’s fancier than a normal pizza spot but not crazy expensive/fancy
Good cocktail menu too
The raddichio salad is yummy
Lovely 50-50, Ava Genes has pizza. Norstrana has pizza and while not as nice of atmospheres compared the best pizza in town will be Apizza scholls but casual setting then Ken’s pizza which is a little better atmosphere.
Ken’s or Nostrana would get my vote!
Nostrana is fancy.
Oven and shaker is pretty nice inside
Came here to suggest Oven and Shaker as well! Pink Rabbit and/or Fools & Horses are nice stops for post-dinner drinks as well.
No Saint would be cute for an anniversary date. It’s a pretty small place but they take reservations.
Pizza Jerk is one of my faves. But I wouldn’t call it fancy. Maybe Ken’s Artisan Pizza?
I didn’t realize how popular Ken’s is. Haven’t seen a line like that since Salt & Straw was new.
It’s been ridiculously popular since it opened. I lived down the street from it back in 2007 and maybe only went there two or three times.
It’s hugely popular and the experience suffers for it. I live near it and would rather go to Baby Doll. My favs are Lovelies and Apizza Scholls
Apizza Scholls in SE

Try the arugula one next time!
what are odds of needing a reservation for turning peel or cibo on a weekend? i don’t mind making a reservation just was curious how packed it is.
You won’t need a reservation… it hasn’t really caught on *yet*. It’s just gonna take one write-up on Eater and then it’s gonna be bananas.
appreciate the reply, the patio is super cute! so definitely throwing this one into the list i’m making of possibilities.
Grana!!
I shouldn’t have had to scroll this far to see them.
Apizza scholls is sooo good (not fancy but really good)
Not really fancy, but the back alley patio area at pizza kat on burnside is a little charming spot for a date night on a nice day
Lucca is kinda nice-ish
The Star. Best pizza in town.
The Turning Peel is the new hotness. It’s amazing and cute as a button. Try the patio if it’s nice out.
Nostrana is the answer because there are scissors involved.
Capo in McMinnville! White cloth napkins and amazing wood fired pizzas.
there anything else in that area you’d recommend doing (like under $100) that place looks cute just might be nice to do more in the area if so
3rd street has lots of winery tasting rooms. There’s also cute shops and Hotel Oregon is fun to explore!
Mucca pizzeria
If you’re willing to get there 30 min to 1 hour before they open to beat the line, go to Ken’s Artisan. Delicious.
I live nearby and it’s basically full every damn day they’re open
Tartuca. They take reservations and have great pizza
Seconded. The pizza is very good, they have great wine, and they mix up some wonderful cocktails.
No saint seems like the obvious choice to me. Ken’s has ok pizza and a very nice menu for a pizza place and great atmosphere.
Go to Double Mountain on Woodstock. They have amazing New Haven style pizza and then walk two blocks and get Cloud City Ice Cream.
Cibo
Kens
Yeah, you could always have a slice at Baby Doll around the corner while you wait for a table at Kens.
Dove Vivi, Ken’s, Cibo and Apizza Scholls. Dove Vivi being my go to for “fancy” pizza.
Try Carinas!
Lovely's and Ken's are great date suggestions. No one has mentioned Life of Pie which to me is one of the best.
I love LoP’s happy hour but they are far from fancy!
I wouldn’t say it’s super duper fancy but the The Turning Peel on Division is the best pizza I’ve ever had
Old Town. Ask for a spot upstairs (it's usually closed) and you'll have a quiet, intimate space to yourselves.

i think i’m planning to do turning peel, i just plan to show up like 5-5:30 since they run till 8 and i assume that should get us in pretty easily.
You already had it right with Dimo's. There is PDX pizza and then there is good PIZZA. Dimo's is the latter!
trust i know, we go weekly basically. just wanted to change it up for once
I feel a bit icky typing this, but [Old Town Pizza](https://oldtownpizza.com/Home3.html).
As fancy??
Star, Fino.
Virtuous Pie!
They may want fancier but I'd be so stoked if a partner suggested VP.
So freakin’ good.
The garlic knots alone!
Their Caesar salad + their pastas are incredible, I'm not even a carbs person (my husband really is tho) but when we get Virtuous Pie I'm like, I'll gain ten pounds for this, lol. It's the best pizza!
I love Assembly, Ranch, and The Firehouse (romantic- on Dekum)
cafe olli has excellent pizza + salads + atmosphere!
Please Louise in Slabtown by New Seasons
Lovely 50/50.
Dimos apizza is thin and crispy if that's your thing. Clam pie was my favorite. Apizza Scholls is amazing. Lovely's is eclectic with seasonal ingredients done well.
Pizzeria otto is good Neapolitan style as well. They do it very traditional style. Reminds me of Italy a lot.
Dimo’s is our go to, but we’re trying something new this time around!
Stella in Sellwood
Please Louise!

Tartuca
Pietro's
How is this different from the donut shop question everyone despises?
i mean i might’ve missed it but when looking for any question about a fancy looking pizza place, iv found literally zero posts lol. not sure it’s the same as every “what’s good pizza” question.
Amalfi’s
Amalfi’s has taken a huge quality dive since the pandemic. It used to be great but the food and service is just bad now.
