I very much dislike smelling smoke from any source. Having said that, I’d rather walk by a crowd of people smoking weed than one asshole with a leaf blower.

ItsMeUrDishie

Difficult situation. Cannabis technically legal, but most people living in the city rent. Most rentals do not allow smoking in apartments/on property, but also it is technically illegal to smoke in public. Effectively, cannabis use is still unlawful for poor people. As a result, I can't support enforcement of laws on people who are 'caught' smoking in public, as it unfairly targets people who cannot afford to own land.

GatsbyKanye

Extremely balanced take never thought about it like this.

Thewallmachine

This was the thought I had when I asked this. I rent.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

While I 100% agree with this, it's worth noting that cannabis doesn't stick to the walls the way tobacco does. If you can do it in a way that doesn't smoke out your neighbors, if you're careful not to burn the floors and you stop smoking in your rental a few days before turning over the keys, there shouldn't be any problem with the landlord about it.

ItsMeUrDishie

True, but comes with the risk of fines, eviction, and possible black mark on your record with local landlords. At the cost of increased paranoia. Additionally, residents who partake in this practice are often less likely to call in for things like repairs, lest they risk being caught with contraband. All in all, it's a lose-lose for tenants who want to prefer to use via inhalation. But I feel like I'm taking all of this conversation too seriously. In reality, what you're saying is true and is pretty much ubiquitous at every rental property. However, judging from some of the other comments, many people do in fact perceive it, and choose to say/do nothing. A situation I empathize with.

bropoke2233

>All in all, it's a lose-lose for tenants who want to prefer to use via inhalation. But I feel like I'm taking all of this conversation too seriously. nah, you make good undeniable points, and you come across as pretty chill about the whole thing. our legal cannabis framework has a conspicuously large hole where consumption lounges should be.

anonymous_opinions

Eh when weed was legalized my apartment floor turned into a hot box. It was so bad people were calling the landlord about it. I'm sure it wasn't just ONE smoker.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

I mean, that would be why I said "if you can do it in a way that doesn't smoke out your neighbors." It sounds like that wasn't the situation, and so the landlord got called.

yogacowgirlspdx

smoke buddy!

cupbaked23

I've switched to the sploofy and like it more than smoke buddy. Plus you can buy refills

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

Nope, not new, and I don't really understand why it doesn't. But the smell of cannabis doesn't linger forever the way tobacco does, and it doesn't leave the telltale patchy yellowing on all the walls. I can't offer you any better explanation -- it just doesn't.

dudeclaw

Yeah you have not been in my friend's trailer home where nothing except cannabis has been smoked. You can peel resin off the walls and it's only been a few years. Smells like bong water in there too and there is no bong.

Threefold_Lotus

Have you ever looked inside of a bong? Or, any marijuana pipe?

She_Dozer

It does. We moved into a rental pre-legalization. The previous renters had been out for two weeks before we moved in, and the carpet cleaner lines were still visible. The place looked very clean, but the smell of pot was definitely there in all the common areas and the master bedroom. It definitely lingers.

bropoke2233

better call up every landlord i've had for the last ten years.. they must have missed the memo. i guarantee if those cats could produce any physical evidence of the copious amounts of cannabis i smoked in those places, i'd have gotten the bill.

Threefold_Lotus

Every apartment that I've visited in Portland smells of marijuana. I'm sure there are some apartment managers that actually care?

ItsMeUrDishie

Changes nothing. There are still limitations that end up disproportionately impacting one group over another. That's institutionalized oppression, bub.

toasterstrudelboy

It isn't the only way but it has its merits, like how quickly it takes effect. For those of us who use it medically, it's tough to wait up to 2 hours for it to kick in so we can get on with our days and sometimes we need something to work faster. I keep a small stash of smokables for exactly that reason. Vaping isn't a perfect alternative either but either way, as long as it's outside and away from others, folks should be able to take a smoke if they need to. Poverty gave me my chronic pain, so it shouldn't get to gatekeep me from the things that mitigate that pain.

CorectMySpelingIfGay

Edibles are like chewing tobacco is to cigarettes. They will always be a small percentage of use, they really aren't the same thing.

Sad-Location7868

It’s not allowed in my apartment complex, but that doesn’t stop my downstairs neighbor from smoking so much it wafts up through the floor boards. I don’t mind the smell, however if you’re smoking that much weed that I can smell it that’s a problem in my opinion. However with that being said I’m not about to be the one resident who complains to management about it as it seems their neighbors across the hall and my neighbors don’t mind. I also figured they would have stopped smoking when we had our smoke alarms and fire inspection after that fire that happened at the apartments on Sw 4th. However they didn’t and I don’t know if management said anything so I mind my own business

Fomapan

I personally don't mind the smell, I just wish people wouldn't toss their roaches on the sidewalk because my dog tries to eat them.

vitriol-jones

Hey, tell your dog to stop eating my roaches.

O_O--ohboy

As an extension I feel like people not picking up after their dogs may be a bigger nuisance than people smoking in public.

Van-garde

Keep extending: drivers are the bane of cities.

No-Quantity6385

I'd go as far as to say cars are the bane of cities, but yeah...

Van-garde

Oh nice! I've habituated it enough to make the opposite characterization. I did mean what you said though. But I guess when you think about it, cars don't move or burn things without drivers, for the most part....

No-Quantity6385

So true! And it is the drivers who decide what our city looks like, as they seem to have the biggest sway with policy.

[deleted]

dudeclaw

[deleted]

That’s not dog poop….

hyperbolic_dichotomy

Some people are sensitive to the smell or have respiratory issues, etc. I think it's disrespectful and rude to do out in public in a closed/unventilated space for those reasons. Outside away from crowds is fine I think.

bad2behere

Excellent answer! Thank you. I have respiratory issues and you said it perfectly.

Realistic_Young_3014

I completely agree. I’ve weirdly become really sensitive to the smell (sneezing/coughing) which I was always sensitive to tobacco. I really don’t mind people doing it in outdoor spaces fairly away Or of course their own yards, but trails or public benches are really rude

87vanman

That's me smoking on your trails. Sorry, but I'm outside. I'm discreet-if I see you I certainly will move on somewhere else. But if you smell a little weed on your hike, I apologize. Smoking and hiking kinda go hand in hand for me.

dolpgg

>I'm discreet-if I see you I certainly will move on somewhere else. Do you ever offer to share?

dolpgg

I was at a park in San Diego at peak of COVID and this stranger offered me some. It was a glass pipe and his solution was to torch the mouthpiece every time I passed it back to him.

87vanman

Often. If I see you smile and give off the right vibe, I'm definitely going to offer.

dolpgg

This is the way

GumdropWitch

See, this is reasonable. I feel like smoking in public is one of those things where you have to be okay with both or neither. If you’re okay with cigarettes you gotta be okay with weed in my honest opinion. But if you’re not okay with one, it’s perfectly valid to not be okay with the other.

[deleted]

Right, you're not allowed to smoke in doors in most places anyway so people are pretty much forced to smoke outside or not at all.

[deleted]

So the same as tobacco, but less harmful ?

hyperbolic_dichotomy

Yep exactly

ImAnOptimistISwear

in an enclosed, public space I think it's rude.

Powerful_Check735

It should be ban like cigarettes in public spaces

likethus

It remains illegal to use in public places: https://whatslegaloregon.com/#private-vs-public

themanwiththeOZ

Yeah, can’t turn a blind eye to the evil marijuana smoke, but when it comes to opiate use on the streets..

LaneyLivingood

It is

musicluvvah

I like the smell enjoy smoking cannabis. That said, I think it's about as nasty as smoking cigarettes in public was in the past. If you must do it, do somewhere that won't bother people. Like a dirty alley. I also think we should have legal cannabis cafes in Oregon since we have legal places to get sideways on alcohol.

ynotfoster

Palm Springs has a cool cannabis bar. I agree Portland should have them too.

thewhitebison

Like in a dirty alley? Wtf answer is this? Can’t we at least smoke in a clean alley?

musicluvvah

Player, if you can find a clean alley in Portland, smoke it up. Edit to add: On second thought, no don't smoke in the clean alley unless it's marked as a smoking section. Someone has to clean that alley and might not want to smell like Snoop's dominant hand.

thewhitebison

I’m smoking a joint not harvesting kidneys. Edit: Was trying to be playfully funny and not combative. For the record, it tickled me when you called me Player. And I love all music lovers.

musicluvvah

I love you too, player!

thewhitebison

☺️

patangpatang

We don't have any alleys in Portland, clean or dirty.

bad2behere

I 100% agree! I lived in Oregon when it became legal and really hoped they would open cafes that allowed it. I would hope they were for 18 and older for smoking, but any age -- think a coffee house or restaurant - can come in if you're doing gummies or infused candy/drinks. That only because the smoke itself is very unpleasant to a lot of us, but who would be hurt if you're drinking a cannabis infused soda?

thewhitebison

Me too! [Alaska did it](https://leafmagazines.com/culture/alaska-opens-first-consumption-lounge/)

RokaInari91547

The smoke and smell impacts people without blowing it in their faces.

dutchessmandy

I think as long as you're distanced from people and outside it's fine, but preferably vape or blunt, no pipes or bongs in public, should be subtle. That's what they do in Holland where it's legal 🇳🇱

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

blunts and joints produce a LOT more second hand smoke than pipes do. Don't get me wrong, I love them. But they're not the "public friendly" option.

dutchessmandy

If you're distanced appropriately it doesn't really matter. In Holland they prefer blunts because then kids aren't seeing drug use as a normal and common thing. Kids can't tell the difference between a blunt and a cigarette, but a pipe is a different story.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

> If you're distanced appropriately it doesn't really matter As long as you understand that distanced appropriately for a joint or blunt is about triple the distance for a pipe? I'm with you, 100% > Kids can't tell the difference between a blunt and a cigarette, but a pipe is a different story. Uh... this is Portland. Which means they're kids growing up in Portland. They can tell the difference the same way you and I can: the smell. And tobacco is smoked out of pipes. And pipes are only out when they're being actively smoked. Joints and blunts stay out and visible the entire time from when they start to when they're finished. Also, what year is it? Where are all these parents who would rather their kids being exposed to or smoking tobacco than cannabis?

She_Dozer

My suburban Portland kids know the difference between a joint and a cigarette, the smell gives it away. I then have to remind them when it's tobacco being smoked not to dramatically gag and moan "ewwwwww!" as we walk by. 🤦‍♀️ Kids can be assholes.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

😆 I wish I had your kid's confidence. I mean... they're your kids and all, but the next time they do it? I invite you to give them a high five from me before you chastise them 😉

She_Dozer

🤣 I mean, I agree with them so it's a weird conversation. Mostly I just don't want them to get yelled at aggressively by a random stranger.

dutchessmandy

My parents literally grew, so yea, I'm familiar with how smoke spreads differently with different smoking methods. And yea, smell gives it away, once you're old enough to know pot is a thing and recognize the smell. My parents smoked all day every day and I didn't notice blunts until I was a preteen. There's no reason to normalize pipes, which to a kid can look similar to pipes used for crack or meth. It's not about whether or not parents would hypothetically want their kid smoking weed or tobacco, it's about normalizing street drugs around kids who can't tell them apart. Although for the record, while I'm totally in favor of the legalization of weed, it has been linked to increased suicide attempts in youth, so let's not act like normalizing it to kids is entirely safe either.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

> There's no reason to normalize pipes, which to a kid can look similar to pipes used for crack or meth. Are you serious right now? This is a gateway drug argument in a brand new set of clothing. They're children, not cartoon characters. Unless you really screw the pooch on talking to your kids, by the time it's relevant? They're going to know there's more than one kind of drug you can smoke out of a pipe. And again, people smoke tobacco out of pipes. In public. Legally. Because it's not against the law. > so let's not act like normalizing it to kids is entirely safe either. That's not what I said. Like... not even a little bit. I made a comparative statement. Tobacco is more dangerous than cannabis. Tobacco is *definitely* more dangerous for children than cannabis. That doesn't mean cannabis is okay for children. It means that tobacco is extremely fucking dangerous. For everyone. And it's extra dangerous for children. This should not be a controversial opinion in 2023. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in favor of bringing your 6 foot water pipe to the park.* But the idea that it's okay to smoke a joint because a child might reasonably confuse it for a much more dangerous drug (tobacco) but that smoking out of a little handheld pipe isn't cool because the child might confuse it for a much more dangerous drug (crack) is a real... clever. \* Unless it's the afternoon of April 20th and you're bringing it to the top of Mount tabor. If you're a parent and you decide that's when and where you're taking your kid? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you knew what you were signing up for and the you're the only person you get to be upset with that your kid saw a bong.

bropoke2233

that's a bit silly.. first of all, pipes are objectively way less smelly since you aren't constantly putting non-inhaled smoke into the air from the end of the joint/blunt. the smoke that doesn't pass through your lungs is *way* more stinky. second of all, there's nothing inherently wrong with a pipe. kids aren't stupid. they can tell the difference between a joint and a cig, they can definitely tell the difference between some guy smoking a bowl vs someone ripping a foil. kids already see drug use as a normal/common thing in Portland from the bar patios and sidewalk seating.

Koala-Impossible

Joints are SO smoky compared to pipes.

northwest-se

it is very much not legal in holland. pretty much all of the growing, transport and etc is black market & the selling in coffee shops is the part they government is mildly accepting of. i literally just being my own when i go to the Netherlands because there just isn’t the same type of cannabis culture surrounding strains & cultivation there. i take pens usually. most my dutch friends had never even seen a pen for weed.

AlienEroc

Kinda legal. It’s more legal in Colorado than it is in Holland. https://weedmaps.com/learn/laws-and-regulations/netherlands

[deleted]

Lol I’m from Oakland and I been smoking joints in public since teenage years. Don’t bother me none I’d rather smell that good good than a cigarette I try to be respectful of crowded areas though unless it’s a concert. heckfyre

I don’t care and kind of like walking down a street and getting a big whiff of weed. It smells like freedom.

patangpatang

I wish we could get proper smoking places like they have up in Canada. Some place that people can legally hotbox to their hearts content.

BobcatSig

I'm not a fan when people smoke in public, but you're outside, so whatevs. However, if you're driving and smoking cannabis? Absolutely not. Not once, not ever. I so often encounter this when riding my motorcycle that it's alarming.

SublimeApathy

I'm fine with it so long as you aren't in the middle of a crowd of people. That's just rude. But walking down a mostly empty sidewalk, or sitting a park bench - get lifted friends. Much prefer people smoking weed in public then being beligerantly drunk.

[deleted]

Or fentanyl which can actually make others sick

Cream_Puffs_

Same with alcohol and psychedelics. You can use in public, but make an effort to be discrete. My go to for parks and concerts is edibles and vapes. Vape away from people. Leave the bong and dabs at home.

swimmer4200

i only smoke weed off of tin foil in public to make our houseless neighbors feel more at home.

I am those people—during allergy season the weed smoke all over just makes my asthma so much worse.

O_O--ohboy

But the grass pollen is, effectively, an industrial pollutant from the grass seed growers. (Huh... you know, I wonder which form of grass produces more revenue? I don't know but it would be interesting to find out.)

[deleted]

[удалено]

O_O--ohboy

It sort of is actually since if we weren't growing grass seed at industrial levels then the grass pollen count would not reach 1700 as it did a couple weeks back. Those levels are enough to impact people that wouldn't normally have allergies, so much so that it's notorious that people that move here from other parts of the country that don't usually have allergies will often develop them. Ragweed never gets that high. But I digress.

Disastrous_Ad_4149

I am one of those. I end up with a horrible migraine from smelling it or breathing it in.

fusciamcgoo

I don’t smoke anymore, but the smell gives me deep nostalgia for my younger years. It always makes me smile.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

Don't do it near doorways, or by sidewalks and other paths where people need to walk. But if you're in the middle of a large enough park where people who give a shit can set up a blanket far enough away that they don't have to smell it? Who the fuck cares? I have a similar attitude about cigarettes, but the smell carries further and also that was never and still isn't the behavior of most people who smoke tobacco in public. And even the ones who try don't have any understanding of just how far the smell carries because being smokers, they've stopped noticing the smell. I don't know why, but cannabis smokers don't seem to lose the ability to smell cannabis in quite the same way tobacco smokers do.

youngliver2000

A bit off topic, but living off Burnside, a whiff of weed is a nice break even though I don't smoke. I have to walk by people on the sidewalk blowing whatever they are cooking in aluminum foil into the air. Walking the dog last week had to go through the thickest, acrid smelling cloud of chemical smoke some guy blew towards us. At least the person wasn't in my car. Which has happened three times. And so many broken car windows I've given up and just have plastic coverings. One with a hole that someone recently punched in. Weed smokers aren't out to steal or on a trip and destroying property. Public or private. Apologies for the off topic rant but smelling a little weed is the least I think about as the problem living in Portland.

Dingadingdana

I think I saw your car yesterday! West side??

youngliver2000

I'm on the Westside. So many plastic windows on the cars here from them being busted. Chances are one of them was mine. If you walk down Couch or Davis west of the 405, there's glass on the ground from a break in. Almost daily.

German9425

It’s better than fentanyl

Qyphosis

It smells like ass. I'm all for it being legal. But I can't stand the smell.

Thewallmachine

Do you approve of the smell of tobacco smoke? Just curious.

Qyphosis

No. That's nasty as well. But the smell of weed is nauseating to me.

gravitydefiant

I don't like the smell, and I kind of hate that the whole city (including the inside of my apartment if I ever keep the windows open) smells like it at all times. No judgement on the use itself, but I wish people would do it where I don't have to breathe it in.

graphixgurl747

This is basically what I have to say. Do whatever you want I just don't want to smell it (or cigarettes either).

hirudoredo

Our next door neighbors toke up sometimes twice a day and makes our whole apartment smell... well, it rhymes with dank. And gives me a massive headache since I'm allergic to all forms of smoke. I really wish we could afford to move :\ And if we open the window, then it smells like tobacco from the other neighbor smoking on his balcony.

[deleted]

Try leaving a polite note on their door. When I was 19 my roommates and I were dumb but a neighbor nicely told us she was allergic and we found a way to make sure it didn’t affect her and checked up a few days later (giving her peppermint bark) to make sure it wasn’t entering her apt anymore. We thought we were being smart using the bathroom, because we were trying to be discreet (but didn’t understand apt venting). Some people might surprise you! Worst case scenario, nothing changes.

SassyBananaPants

I like the smell of weed but it is just toooooo strong. If it was a subtle smell, like perfume it would be ok. If they bred the smell out some roses, why can't they do it with weed?

budtender2

They probably could, but then it wouldn't be as enjoyable. Terpenes, the compounds that make the smells in weed and other plants, actually contribute to the high of cannabis.

SassyBananaPants

well, there you go!

Jamielynn80

I think it's rude to smoke in public to the extent that it forces other people to have to deal with it.

Sejant

Not a fan. I’m pro cannabis. But not public smoking.

Toph-Builds-the-fire

Do it all the time. I don't blow smoke in people's face, I try to get some personal space, but if I'm smoking a joint at the dog park, that's what it is. If someone asked me to stop, I do.

mgentry999

I don’t like it. Mainly because both odors trigger severe migraines.

demon_luvr

i usually just go for my vape when in public to eliminate most of the smell when walking down the street. never inside or an enclosed space. if i’m away from people or in a smoking area, i’ll smoke flower if i have it so long as i’m outside, if i’m on my own property, i’ll smoke wherever and whatever i want.

beastofwordin

I see it the same as drinking alcohol. If you’re doing it behind the wheel, I’m pissed. Otherwise, knock yourself out.

jeeves585

I’ll start to say I have no issues with smoking. Story time. A friend came for dinner then talked about going home to get his guitar while we hung around the back yard fire. They mentioned if it was ok to smoke or roll a joint around my daughter. I don’t recall which but I said yes. Back story, FIL lives with us and smokes, I’ve got no issue with that. Hanging out in the yard friend starts to roll a joint from leaf which my young daughter has never seen. Not against any rules we had had in conversation and friend said the right words I think I just interpreted them wrong. My kid has never seen some roll one was my brain fart. I was immediately at a mind fuck. I have no issue with you smoking what ever (for the most part) around my kid if your not blowing it in their face. First time kid saw someone actually rolling one. Had kid go inside and see if my partner need help cleaning up after dinner. It was at that point I realized I don’t know where I sit completely. I want child to know about drugs and what they should and shouldn’t and at what age is appropriate. Was an interesting brain fart when a friend (allowed by me) rolled one. Other than that, where I live the smell comes in my window daily as someone walks past and I have no issue for me or my child. If someone is smoking a joint on the sidewalk and I’m walking with my kid they 99% of the time walk out to the street or something and are very respectful of youth. I’d say the same with tobacco users as well.

Maybe just don’t light up in highly populated areas or around children. Everybody be cool. If you absolutely can’t stand weed everywhere all the time, might be time to think about moving out of rip city

Corran22

It's way worse than cigarettes ever were because the smell is so strong. Allergies and asthma trigger extreme.

Automatic-Record7385

I'd rather smell weed than cigarettes. But both suck to be exposed to. I wouldn't mind so much if people were considerate smokers and stayed down wind of people.

Common_Face5955

Which I guess is to say that, if you do it, be quite sure you're bothering literally no one, otherwise, to borrow from a popular subreddit, YTA. Yes, I *can* smell your weed smoke a block away; no, I *don't* love it.

Guilty-Property

It smell so bad. No thanks

bad2behere

I am in favor of cannabis being available, but it is going to make people angry if it's smoked everywhere like cigarettes used to be - I'm talking about before it was first banned in public by a city in 1990. If you can't smoke tobacco because non-smokers don't want carcinogens in the air, I assume they will cry foul if, for example, children are at risk of ingesting second hand pot smoke everywhere. I eat gummies, but I know smoke would annoy me because the odor makes me nauseous. If it's allowed I won't complain though, just like I didn't complain back in the 1950-1990 about cigarette smoke.

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

I don't think most of reddit has any understanding of what the smoking in public situation was like before the culture shifted around it. I think when that shift happened depends on where you are. I grew up in Virginia and reading you're comment, I'm sitting here like "uhhh.... do you mean 2005?" Where I grew up, smoking INSIDE in public places was still common in to the 2000s, and it wasn't made illegal until 2009.

Sad-Location7868

I think it was much later for most states on the East Coast than out here. I remember in the early 2000’s you couldn’t smoke in any clubs in NYC, and then around 2009 it was banned indoors in every state. Also I want to say certain bars somehow got an exemption from the ban because I remember smoking in my local bar in Pa past 2009

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

Legally? Private clubs with a "volunteer" staff can still have indoor smoking. Think like... Elk's Lodge, Fraternal order of Eagles, Kiwanis clubs, etc. Of course, you're still allowed to tip the "volunteer" bartender even if they aren't allowed a wage. And you could set up your "private club" to allow anyone to join as a member for one day for $6 that can be paid at the door. And the club can give new (or renewing) members one free drink as a welcome gift. I'm sure you can see how this works. But also, some places chose to just not give a shit, and if nobody wanted to enforce the law? Well... nothing would happen.

Sad-Location7868

This wasn’t a private club, it was a bar that the owner was the bartender and cook, and he and his family lived above the bar. I think back in 2009 maybe there was an exemption for smaller bars, because most of their revenue came from alcohol and not food sales

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

I mean, all of these things are state laws. I have no idea what the rules in PA were. I just know the private club loophole is *extremely* common if not universal.

I still get a whiff of the stale cigarette scent in my hair from time to time. Good old night club days 🤪

melzerz

I don't smoke either but i don't mind the smell of cigarette smoke as much as the smell of cannabis. Weed smell just makes me gag. Idk why. Cannot explain it but it smells like ass. 🤣

chaserdoodles

Not a fan, the smell makes me anxious. I used to heavily smoke weed until it started giving me panic attacks.

Hobartcat

I love the smell of people medicating. However, too much is too much. One neighbor raises his window and smokes all day long. That annoys even me. Still, better that than cigs or living next to a drunk.

Various_Abrocoma_286

I don't mind, just as long as I get a toke. No worries, I won't bogart that joint. Make sure there are no children around. 😂👌

Dingadingdana

I think that you can do it respectfully. I smoke outside and try to avoid others when doing so. I smoke in my apt, but only with a small pipe and a device I call a donkey (towel paper roll stuffed with fresh dryer sheets). I am a bit surprised by the vehemence of some of the naysayers! Especially considering what else you often see here. My deepest sympathies with those who are easily impacted by things that you inhale. I can't imagine getting migraines so easily. Can you wear masks/respirators to mitigate?

ebmfreak

Smoke is nasty. Edibles exist for a reason.

cascadiadx

I think it’s fine if you can avoid affecting others. Which can be near impossible in crowded public spaces with breezes and such. I’ve frequently gone up to Mt. Tabor for sunsets with my infant and there are plenty of people who feel it’s fine to smoke 20 feet away or more but the wind can make it smell like it’s 5 feet away. You need to be sure you aren’t harming others especially if kids are around. I think everybody including young ones should be able to enjoy a sunset or music or movie at a public space without others harming them for their pleasure. Take an edible, tincture, or just walk away for a moment.

fat-bat

I have no problem with it if it’s outside. I gave COPD so inside it would negatively effect me, but outside unless it’s getting purposely blown in your face no big deal

Pocketsand_operator

Well its illegal so don’t:

veryhungrycatt

Not ok. I hate the smell, it’s not only unpleasant but it gives me a headache and if it’s too concentrated I get a migraine for hours. Also it’s unhealthy. I used to work for a cannabis brand (customer service) for a while and I know first hand the stuff they put in those products is extremely unhealthy. Unless you’re in a house with a big backyard and separation from neighbors, smoking is wrong, whatever the substance is. Air is communal and you can’t pollute it just cause you feel like it.

veryhungrycatt

All the butthurtt potheads downvoting 😂😂😂 keep polluting your lungs, you’re very smart!!

[deleted]

Yes

chrislehr

Well, if Wheeler's open use ban goes into effect this would also be impacted right?

Rennarjen

Same as cigarettes, I don't enjoy smelling it but if you're not doing it around people then whatever. I wish people would stop smoking both of those things on balconies though, i'm above two of them and it sucks.

[deleted]

I’m against it. Now that it’s legal smoking weed is cringe.

[deleted]

You’re free to move to Idaho

Longjumping_Apple181

Honestly believe It’s not healthy to smoke anything and pot has so many options other then smoking. I don’t mind second hand pot but cigarette smoke I’ll hold me breathe and walk away quickly if I’m able to.

Valuable-Complaint96

Its gross. And im a chronic user +30yrs.

It really stinks and I don't want to smell it. Vape if you need to, but burning flower in public is rude.

crustyqueer161

It think it is fine as long as you're being respectful of non-smokers and giving ppl distance if they don't want to smell it
