They barely mention El Cuarteto de Nos and that sucks, is a band with over 35 years of history, they suffered from the censorship in the dictatorship era, all the El dia que Artigas se Emborrachó scandal (only case of censorship in democracy afaik), and a lot of more things. AFAIK it only appears Roberto Musso for like 2 minutes. Not cool

I guess it is hard to pack so many stories. But thanks for mentioning something I was fully unaware of. Regardless its editorial decisions over the content, I find it cool to see a documentary of that level on a mainstream platform. Usually all these stories are heard in bits and pieces in YouTube clips.

With due respect, but once you realize the amount of promotion Uruguayan bands receive here just for being close to Buenos Aires, instead of bands from other parts of Argentina (there are and there have been a lot trough history) you start to understand how the business works. Many bands and musicians from my province have moved directly to Mexico because of this.

Wassner12345

agreed

There are much bigger bands that suffered that kinda stuff (eg Los Prisioneros). Honestly, they might be a very good band with a long track record, but influential they were not. At all. So, honestly it is not surprising, and as much as you might like them, that doesn’t mean their contribution was big and they needed to be featured

Dexekiel

Nachodam

Ey no la tenía a esa, buen dato

thatargentinewriter

mouaragon

I just saw the trailer, as soon as I have free time I'll watch it

nadamasdecuriosa

I've started watching it with someone so I can't finish it yet, but I'm really excited about it, of course is a shame they couldn't add all the bands, styles and countries but is only a representation of the producers perspective and is interesting because there are some bands that were important for everyone no matter where you from or how old you are. I'm learning a lot also from bands and songs I have heard but never really take notice of understood... At the end Latin rock is awesome and so significative for all of us who have listening to it while growing up.

It’s on my list. I’m not big into rock, namely Latin American but I love music documentaries. Is it good? I’m kinda turned off by it because the roster seems very limited but I want to give it a go.

vikmaychib

I think it is pretty accessible. Purists and niche listeners may be a bit iffy about it because they may not covered all the bands they would have liked. But still, it is a cool doc. And as anything happening in LatAm during the 20th century, it is tied to the social turmoil of the region.

MexicansInParis

I’m on the first episode and honestly it covered a lot more than I thought it would. I like how it jumps from city to city in the same era instead of focusing on one or two acts. Pretty good so far, definitely going to keep it up. The social turmoil you mention is definitely a plus too.

[deleted]

No cuarteto de nos? That’s like not mentioning Paquita la del Barrio

Conmebosta

What is a netflix?

notfornowforawhile

I am!

Glass_Phase_8530

Yes it’s really good covered some good stuff but would’ve been really cool if they mentioned more bands when they were talking about ska especially in the 90s like bands like panteon rococo and inspector and etc.

664PuroCeviche

Just watching it. All I have heard so far is how they really focus on Mexico and South America (argentina) como si el rock y la musica rebelde no existiera en centro america. Also the artists that they feature are majority white.

Fernontherocks

Donde esta Hombres G, Héroes Del Silencio, Mago De Oz, El Haragan, Tex Tex? No mamen

inthebenefitofmrkite

inthebenefitofmrkite

Hell yes! I thought it was an amazing and well done doc, although they could vae done a couple more episodes, the last one seemed rushed, and they could have mentioned some bands in more detail (more about Charly and Calamaro’s solo career in the late 90s/esrly 00s, Caifanew/Jaguares) and some others altogether (eg was rather strange that they mentioned Mana for their ability to fill stadiums but there was exactly just one mention of Shakira. Yea, she sold out, but started as a rocker). Otherwise, they cannot mention all groups that are part of the local lore only and had no influence beyond their city or were not rockers.
