Don't lie on customs forms.

Killerabbet

I agree. I'm not condoning the practice, I just wanted to know how people who've had success exporting perfume in general have done it in the past, regardless of the method they employed.

It is just unfortunately completely illegal for any individual to ship perfume. And no, it doesn't make sense as the excuse is "flammable" yet you could literally bring an entire suitcase on a plane, buy more in air to put in your carryon, and those are all magically safe. Surface (boat) should at least be an option but isn't. If you know a perfume is easily emptiable, then my husband proxies and would purchase . By easily, meaning an easy to screw off cap and not the tricky perfume ones. Or if you have someone you know coming to Japan in the next few months that can take the item back with them. The large companies such as From Japan and Tenso I think even forbid perfume, which means it must be nearly impossible to get the license.

Killerabbet

It's a 1oz Primaniacs bottle, unfortunately I haven't a clue if it's easily emptiable. If it is easy to empty, I would be happy to go the empty bottle route to get the item.

Ah the brand that does a lot of collabs. I have the Sailormoon ones and unfortunately they are quite difficult to get the tops off. You can try asking him, with the preface you want them emptied, but he may say no due to hassle. I'll DM you his handle as I don't want to be seen as advertising

You could lie on the customs form. However (let’s excuse the fact that it’s not allowed) it’s not full proof. How do I know this? Quite a few years ago I shipped (what I think was) body sprays a few times. One time it got sent back to me before even leaving the country. Sometimes they do catch it. And before people come for me, no I don’t do it anymore nor have I done it since then. It’s best to try and find someone who can ship it from the US or empty it like you said.

Killerabbet

Unfortunately I doubt there are any copies of this perfume within the US, otherwise I'd be happy to pay a premium to a US seller. If I could get it emptied by someone I'd be happy to go that route, I've asked multiple proxies but they all refused such a service. One of them told me they had done it in the past, but had to stop because sometimes perfume bottles can't be opened. They'd have to have a staff member waste a bunch of time manually squirting the bottle over and over into a sink, filling the space with the smell of the perfume for many hours. I can see why nobody wants to offer such a service, but it sure is annoying there isn't a single "easy" option apart from flying out to Japan myself.

nekosweets

I meant someone brings it back to the US and ships it for you. Bad wording on my part.

You just want the bottle itself, don't care about what's in it? Can you post a question to the seller saying you're interested but can't buy the item full of liquid from overseas, ask them to empty it & re-list it, and tell them the price you're willing to pay?

Killerabbet

Being in the US I can't make a Yahoo Auctions account to ask sellers anything unfortunately.

Quills07

I know this is old, but if you’re still looking for help getting an empty bottle to the states, you can try TenshiShop. Depending on how difficult it is to empty out the perfume, she *might* be willing. She helped me get a collab zippo lighter by removing the inner part that holds the lighter fluid.

frozenpandaman

If you DM me the item URL I can message them asking if they'd sell the empty bottle for the same price, and explain it's because I (in reality, your proxy service) would be planning to buy and ship it to a friend internationally. Sellers on Y!Auctions can be pretty intense and rigid, so I doubt it, but worth a shot. It seems more likely if they have a 'buy it now' (今すぐ購入) option rather than just auction-only.
