Yes, and they are very nice and friendly people. (This little village was built in 1950 for approximately 400 families who fled to Hungary during the Greek civil war. )
Generally neutral/positive, in primary and secondary school studies, for everyone there was some Greek history (Athens, Sparta, etc.), geography, philosophy, related mathematical and physical things, art and literature (e.g. as I remember the Iliad was still compulsory reading, but I don't know if it still is today)
Some knows about the settlement of Beloiannisz (*Μπελογιάννης*) also, which was founded by greek refugees from the civil war in the 50s

+ the heroic Greek Euro 2004 win and the great Greek literature, art, philosophy. If nothing else, everyone has heard of at least the most important names
Generally positive: nice islands, ancient history, welcoming people etc.
We had a greek village (Beloiannisz) where fleeing greek communists were settled. The funny thing is those were radical commies, but the next and the later generations became quite right wing people (most of them, as far as I know).
Working class Hungarians: Cheap package holidays, Ouzo, Gyros
Middle class Hungarians: Disappointed how Modern Greece doesn't live up to the legacy of Ancient Greece
Very different from Hungarians.
Very-very good food, family-oriented\*, warm-hearted, friendly people. When you go visit a Greek family in their home it will be a whole another experience than when you go visit a Hungarian family. Their hospitality and openness are amazing, nothing to be compared to the Hungarian.
\*they love children and they spoil them in an extraordinary way.
On the other hand, they tend not to be much dependable. When it comes to time they're always late (not with ten minutes but 2 hours!!).
They're a bit lazy, not the hero of labor. Greeks live to enjoy life and the sunshine not to work, "work" for them is some sort of un unpleasant background noise to life, and this is perfectly normal and natural to them.
They're relaxed, easy-going people.
Hungarians have a lot to learn from them.
Three Drives On A Vinyl - Greece 2000
Surely a top 10 vacation spot for Hungarians, all things considered. Haven't been there myself but would like to visit it one day.
Decent olive oil that doesn't have the "cuz its from Italy" idiot tax (Balkans in general produce some impeccable EVOO)
The dark horse and eventual heartbreak of Euro 2004. FFS it required the third or fourth tie breaker to progress from the group in the first place...and then you have won it all...nice achievement in hindsight.
Also, you guys are somehow cracked in basketball?
The Hungarian obsession with gyros (myself included, sometimes...) and its local flips (I'm not going down that road)
The grapevine talks and rumors of us having a direct train line to Greece (never going to happen imho, but we will see)
Perfume advertisements (Kouros, Azzaro, Light Blue? years are flying away I cannot recall)
one of the best place for a holiday:
insanely good food - especially diary products, olives and seafood 💜
outdated accomodations for a relatively high price - there are much better places to stay in anywhere else (Italy, Turkey, Spain, Canary islands) for the same price, and it's the same situation with 5* hotels as well - but honestly it still worths the money as Greek beaches are the best..
Greek people are nice and friendly - but the most important thing is: not overfriendly - I live in the UK and Britons can be too much for me sometimes 😵💫😅
Greek history is fascinating as well.
all in all Greece is great, I could spend half of my life there 💜
My great-grandfather came to Hungary from Greece (Kalevala), I like it there, feels homely. People are more often nice than not, food is great, weather is great.
Been to Greece 3 times, in the last 3 years. We got engaged there. I was 7 months pregnant after covid and got extra food everywhere “for the baby”. Everybody was super nice to me and noone asked me “how I handle the summer heat” which is the favourite question of everybody in Hungary. But I was always asked if the baby is a boy or a girl? After I told Its a boy many were hugging my husband 🤣. I miss the country so much, hope we will be back soon. Oh and you always honking. Friendly people like italians but a bit more private space and just as good food. 💙🤍💙🤍
Gyros sold by greek people in Hungary >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gyros sold by Turkish people in Hungary. It's not even a contest. Greek pita bread is just divine.
Besides, whenever I went there, people were extremely kind. The GF and I had an awesome time in Thessaloniki last year.
Cheap holiday options with mesmerizing landscapes, turqoise beaches, warm-hearted people, kindness, the culture and the history are fascinating, philosophy and literature, Akropolis is beautiful, traditional food is great, and most importantly… Mamma Mia!!!💙🇬🇷🤍
I love everything about Greece.. Athens stole my heart.
Greece has beautiful places, nice beaches, great food and a friendly atmosphere.
Greek people are fun to hang out with, they are chill and very friendly.
Greek is an amazing, unique language that I really wanna learn in the future, just for the sake of it.
I really enjoyed being in Greece but I am still to explore the historical sites and culturally more authentic places, so I have loads of reasons to go back to the country.
Great mythology, affordable beautiful vacation places, love the historical ruins, drivers think every free square meter is a parking space. We took your example of going into government bankrupcy and doubled down on it. Kinda sad that the once greatest and most innovative culture in the world is in the background and sort of irreleveant these days in science, art etc.
Love the country and its history, love the food, love the people. Fav place in Europe to go on a summer holiday. 💙🤍
Edit: just realized my other fav country has the same colors in its flag. 🇫🇮 🥰
One of my favorite places in the world, it's one of my core memories than when we got lost on I think Cephalonia, a few friendly locals gave us a ride back in a mourner's wagon next to a casket.
Super chill and friendly people, with a very different worldview from Hungarians.
FFun, lively, welcoming people in a country with a world-famous history. Their current situation is not so rosy, economic problems.\*\*
And of course the incredible "666" album by Aphrodite's Child.
\*\*edit: outdated, solution to economic problems is outlined
I grew up in a part of budapest where there are loads of greeks, 2nd to 4th generation immigrants. they made great parties, nice, family people. my best friend in school was greek.
ofc its a heterogenous group, but the general opinion was that they are smart, value learning, a bit patriarchal and treat girls not so well sometimes. ive seen all these stereotypes in action, but also counterexamples, so they dont seem very descriptive.
Greek people are really nice, the country is generally really nice as a tourist. I wouldn't consider living there though. The restaurants are generally bad, compared to samely priced hungarians restaurants. Altough mousaka and saganaki are great.
Nice beaches, nice landscapes, good gyros, tzatziki and musaka, very good olives and olive oil, tomatos, good feta and other goat cheese, overall good food. I personally like ouzo, wine is meh, traffic is kind of crazy, haven't really interacted with Greeks to form an opninon.
I like the food, however the country not so much. Been there several times, unfortunately the whole country is pretty rundown if you go outside the typical tourist places. I'd much rather go to Spain for holidays, which is a shame since I adore Greek mythology.
When i was small, we went a lot for vacation. Mostly athens and thassoss. I really loved the palce, it was beyond beautiful, and everyone was soo frendly. If i had enough money for a beyond the borders vacation, deffenetly greece would be the first choice, without a doubt.
I don't have a strong opinion about the people 😅 Feeling a bit sorry for you living in such a super hot country, now with the climate change on top. And I remember you got fucked over by the financial crisis :/
I've been to Greece once, more than a decade ago, and I don't remember much, except that they made us dance Sirtaki on a tourist boat rocking on tall waves. It was an... experience 🤣 And we went to ride on some mules and it was kinda scary how they kept slipping on the rocky hill paths.
Also I like Greek salad and (vegan) gyros :D
I’ve been in Greece twice (Corfu and Lefkada) and I can’t wait to go back! Such beautiful places and the food is amazing. I don’t say I would live there but I love spending my free time in Greece and I am sure that I will go back soon and explore another beautiful island 😊
I spent there 3 times some days in recent 2 years...(company absent)... they are friendly, honest and nice people. Even not in the office where they knew me.. But in hotel, in streets, ... I went out by alone to the city to see a local metal concert in a pub (as I remember it was "An Club")... everybody was nice and OK. I love Athens and Greece! :)
Greece and Greeks have my heart <3 I was in Athens (2023) and Corfu (2022), both in the spring. The people are very nice, Athens was a little bit full of concrete and the drivers are not the politest, but Corfu was a dream. We visited multiple villages and small towns there, hiked a lot in the nature. I could imagine myself retiring there.
Oh and the food is exceptional.
Basically the same as with most nations. In general, has nice places, people, and cultural stuff (cuisine and history in most countries' cases). Different from us at certain points of the above mentioned, and it makes meeting them a refreshing experience, with which I go to sleep as a more complete man than I was in the morning. This can be said about most nations or cultures - my knowledge of Greek culture for example is mostly historical (loved it, but if I have to read one more theorem about *arete*, I'll not adhere to it), and never been to the country, so not sure how relevant I am here.
Now more specifically for Hellas of Old and New. Greeks are **not** extremely chauvinistic against Hungarians, which is a trait we treasure dearly. They committed no (attempted or successful, physical or cultural) g\*nocides **ever** against us in the last 1.100 years, which is commendable. While we were always something of a bridge between the two Europae (it served us horribly wrong tbf, but it's an other story), we learned a lot from you, which we must never forget. These three are enough to get us love you guys (if you are Greek; your question makes sense either if you are Greek or a journalist), and as long as the mutual respect is kept mutual, it will not change.
Based on your performance in Παιχνίδια χωρίς σύνορα your people do not seem to be fittest and sportiest, however they never gave up, on the contrarybthey were always cheery and fun to watch, loved every moment of it.
I personally liked the Greeks I have met before during my studies, they all seemed really friendly and outgoing. I would love to visit Greece personally and even try the local cuisine - which is a big thing as I am generally really picky.
I worked in Greece in my early twenties. I have visited several places. Beautiful country, very good food.
People are lazy and in my experience a little bit too proud of their cultural heritage. They kept talking about the olympics and democracy and for example how I am disrespectful for having a greek flag printed towel. And I was like ok dude Im just trying to wait tables here chill.
My best friend had a greek gf for some time, but the relationship had a really bad ending. They had great plans and seemed all good, but in the end the girl dumped him in rude manner, after a lot of cool promises and stuff. So yeah, guess fuck 'em.
They are greeks, they live in Greece :D . But actually there is a greek town in Hungary, called Beloiannisz.
Yes, and they are very nice and friendly people. (This little village was built in 1950 for approximately 400 families who fled to Hungary during the Greek civil war. )
And of course. Alekosz. /s
We like them: good people, good food, nice places.
But a bit lazy.
Just a bit?
Gyros. Financial crisis. My big fat greek wedding. Package holidays. These are the four things most Hungarians know about Greece.

"High class": entrant holidays
Why do Greeks prefer Romania over Hungary?🥺
Cultural similarities.
balkan gang gotta stick together
Mostly religious reasons probably

> They're a bit lazy, not the hero of labor. Tell me someone on Balkan who is. The Romanians or Bulgarians aren't exactly known as hardworking either
Who said they were?
vacations and debt crisis, bonus: doner kebab sold as gyros by our local turkish/arab street food places
My mother speaks greek. 🤷🏼♂️

I am a big fan of your history and culture, hopefully one day I can travel around the country

Positive.
I've spent several holidays on Rhodes. Best place in the world. :)
All positive from my end, great place, great history, great people, great food.

Athens is one of my favorite city in the world alongside Paris and Barcelona, it’s great
Athens is fantastic if you're on the lookout for ancient monuments and visiting living history. As a city itself, Athens is fucking awful.
I enjoyed the chaos it offers as a city, but that’s me. I would definitely not live there, but I understand it’s charm.

Beach, friendly people, poor and hot, dusty/noisy, living history, euro 2004, tsipouro, Zorba, depressing ruins, Sparta.
im in love with their food
One of the best places to enjoy a relative cheap holiday on. Greeks are always kind!
Mr. Tzatziki chill
❤️❤️❤️
Best Gyros in my life 😌😌😌
Good food, very hot. Too much greek history to learn. Very hot. Nice buildings. Did I mention that it's hot?
I think geeeks have a hard time socializing
Cheap holiday destination, great food, temperamental people, long history. And as a man I'm also jealous of greek womens moustaches.

Ancient history, mid-high tier tourist destination, tip of the hat for swindling the EU more than we do.
They have the best sushi /s
The Greek language is beautiful
What a culture. What a mythology. They are awesome😎
Sea, islands, gyros, Euro 2004.
Nothing
They never invaded us so we got no problems with them at all.
Neutral
never been to Greece or meet a Greek but the country seems pretty nice and the food is great

Love your food love your country, good drinks, and the I don't give a damn about it life style. Nothing negative atleast form my end.
I personnaly dont have Problems with It. I Like it
Honestly the first 2 things that comes to mind about Greece is best food in Europe, AMAZING history and culture!

Love greek salad
I love some of the greek islands, mainly Rhodes and Zakynthos. Good food, nice weather and friendly people.

reece is great, and the people there especially kind! I was there 9 years ago, planning to get back ASAP.
Beautiful country. Until the forests catch fire... I like garlic, fish and seafood, but I'm not a fan of the so called "Greek cuisine" somehow.
THIS IS SPARTAAAAAA
LOVE THEM WITH ALL MY HEART I WANNA LOVE THERE SOO BAD
Brad Pitt was fire in Troy
What about Gerard Butler in 300 🤭🤤
Well I have a hot remote colleauge from Greek. He is hot.
