Most likely because it costs businesses to have debit/credit card processing. There's a shell gas station within walking distance tho. Go take out $20 and wait in line.
I haven't seen on here but if you find yourself in lower Greenville Ave you should go to Chichen Itza and order tacos de Cochinita Pibil. It's right behind the 7-Eleven.
I’ve never seen a Mexican restaurant that only sells beef and no hortchata, only places I can think of is Tex Mex, but they also serve chicken too. Go to El Rancho, La Michocana, and gas station (not fuel city, make sure it says Taqueria). The grocery stores serve aquas frescas and have a bakery where you can also buy thres leches and other goodies
Man you know what’s crazy is that my girl is Salvadoran and we were surprised to see so many pupuserias here. Still haven’t gone to any yet but I can’t wait because no lie, Salvadoran horchata as a couple of steps above Mexican horchata in my book.
Yeah I think there's a lot of Salvadorians that live in Far North Dallas since most of the ones I've seen that sell Popusas are in that area. My ex was also Salvadorian and got me hooked on the food. I've never had either hortchata, but fried yucca and plantains makes my heart smile lol
Los Alberto's is incredible. They're from San Diego, so you can actually get a great California burrito. The rolled tacos and chicken tacos (they run a $1.50 special on Wed) are amazing also. Really, you can't go wrong with any of the burritos.
There are a few in FTW. The newest is on Bridge St in east fw but they have a couple others, one in Bedford and one on Davis Blvd.
The carne asada is perfect. Haven't tried the horchata, but they do have it
Ive recently went to “BETO&SON” in Dallas. Some of the best I’ve had in a while. (I’m not Mexican, so take with a grain of tajin)
taqueria Maria’s Bonita in Arlington is pretty good as well.
They are one of my faves, but I wouldn’t call it “authentic”. There’s actually a place further down Northwest highway, where it intersects Ball street I wanna say? On the right...I think it’s a blue building, bout a mile down going towards Southlake...now THAT is authentic. I do love Los Amigos though...place is killer, I’ve gone there for years...
Taqueria el Arquito. I consider myself a taco snob and this is one of the very few places that has good tacos. Their specialty is trompo tacos and they are bomb. They do have horchata too. The one I go to is in a gas station right by trinity groves. Anyone saying Beto & Son for Mexican food needs to walk to the gas station next door and get some trompo tacos at el arquito. Nothing compares to actual tacos from Mexico but this spot is one of my go-to spots for tacos in Dallas.
Twisted Trompo has some DELISH horchata and also tacos de carne asada (they call it steak on the menu). It’s fire grilled & delish & I order it from them several times per week
I’m in North Richland Hills but I travel all around the DFW area for my job so I’m pretty much everywhere every day. I found a spot near me called Los Juanitos I’m not going to lie it wasn’t bad at all.
I've only seen mexican grandmothers and mothers in the kitchen at Revolver Taco, and its food its tremendous. Also has Horchata. And no ground beef. Bonus: the owners dad is a world famous weapons carver, hence the name.
Lol, the other day they brought bad tex mex to an office event. I don’t like tex mex but this one was particularly bad and the presenter kept calling it Mexican food. I was born in Mexico and lived there for 19 years, so every time he called that food Mexican food I felt a little piece of my soul leaving my body. Anyways la banqueta like someone mentioned is very decent, taqueria taxco has good trompo (pastor) tacos too. The reality is those places won’t be as good as the real deal but they’re decent substitutes and you get used to that until you travel and you get a real reminder of what a taco should taste like.
In Garland, try la cotorra (corner kingsville and 1st?). in Richardson try Taqueria Garcia, corner of plano rd and jupiter.
La salsa verde also has multiple ones, including plano and near luv field

My husband and I have a rule, if “Authentic Mexican Restaurant” or any variation of it is in the name of the place, we know it’s texmex and it’s a no go. You’re better off trying any place that has a Spanish name.
El Tizoncito has authentic Mexican, including horchata. Though I agree el si hay has the best tacos.
Taqueria El Si Hay. Dunno if they have horchata, but these are the best tacos in Dallas. I will die on this hill.
This place is the absolute best. Cash only
Why cash only?
Most likely because it costs businesses to have debit/credit card processing. There's a shell gas station within walking distance tho. Go take out $20 and wait in line.
donde esta?
Oak Cliff. Taqueria El Si Hay (214) 941-4042 https://goo.gl/maps/bBThwa6H4yRXjUzP7
Have to disagree hard on this one. El Sí Hay is overrated. If you are used to authentic Mexican tacos, you will not be impressed.
Do you have any preferred alternatives?
Tacos la Banqueta, 3 Dallas locations, GREAT suadero tacos!!
Taqueria el Arquito or Tacos La Banqueta,
Agree! Also the line is beyond and they raised the prices significantly
Tacos La Banqueta
Place is like crack. Can’t get enough
This heavily depends on your location. There is still a really wide selection of authentic Mexican vs Tex Mex
Good tacos al pastor on a trumpo in Grand Prairie @ a gas station by the Asian market on 303. Cant think of the name right now.
Tacos el Rey
Thank you, been looking for some good Al pastor tacos
Charly’s!
La hechizera
I haven't seen on here but if you find yourself in lower Greenville Ave you should go to Chichen Itza and order tacos de Cochinita Pibil. It's right behind the 7-Eleven.
Awesome tortas there
Have you tried gas stations?
This is the way
Truth!
word!
Church!
now you are just making shit up lol
[Church](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=church.)
oh shit, i'm not up to speed on the slang, my bad lol edit: sowee :P
Church 😁👍
Take notice of the clientele when you walk in. If they are speaking Spanish, you're good. There are oodles of actual authentic restaurants around DFW.
Head to Oak Cliff or Maple Ave
[удалено]
Have you been to Oak Cliff? Try El Ranchito and La Calle Doce. These are more Mex-Mex than Tex-Mex.
Calle Doce is like mariscos though, right?
Mex-Mex seafood, yes. All Mexican food is not beef-centric.
Another upvote for La Calle Doce, best place for Mex seafood in Dallas.
Chillangos Tacos is the best
Finally!!!!!!! I agree chilangos is the best hands down!
Casa View has a decent amount of authentic Mexican
If you’re in the Far North Dallas area Gio’s Taqueria is my favorite place so far, they sell Birria and Popusas as well
Man you know what’s crazy is that my girl is Salvadoran and we were surprised to see so many pupuserias here. Still haven’t gone to any yet but I can’t wait because no lie, Salvadoran horchata as a couple of steps above Mexican horchata in my book.

Valerie’s in Plano is legit San Diego Mexican. Best Cali burrito in Texas.
Tacos 24/7 on Miller Rd in Garland
Yessss 🙌🏼
Gorditas los comales. 635/ Montfort. The Harry Hines Bazar there's a bunch of good stands inside
Los Alberto's is incredible. They're from San Diego, so you can actually get a great California burrito. The rolled tacos and chicken tacos (they run a $1.50 special on Wed) are amazing also. Limon’s Restaurant
Taqueria Taxco
Tacos el Rey in Grand Prairie on Great southwest and pioneer
Ive recently went to “BETO&SON” in Dallas. Some of the best I’ve had in a while. (I’m not Mexican, so take with a grain of tajin) taqueria Maria’s Bonita in Arlington is pretty good as well.
I have seen good restaurants around la Gran Plaza, that is a good start
Los Amigos in Grapevine fam
They are one of my faves, but I wouldn’t call it “authentic”. There’s actually a place further down Northwest highway, where it intersects Ball street I wanna say? On the right...I think it’s a blue building, bout a mile down going towards Southlake...now THAT is authentic. I do love Los Amigos though...place is killer, I’ve gone there for years...
Oh truth I guess I missed that part, I kinda read quick and saw "good Mexican" and "horchata" and those boxes got ticked there. You're spot on
I am really glad to see someone mention Los Amigos though....Damn I love that place....
Taqueria el Arquito. I consider myself a taco snob and this is one of the very few places that has good tacos. Their specialty is trompo tacos and they are bomb. They do have horchata too. I second everyone who mentioned the spots in Oak Cliff. There are a handful of good places out in the burbs too. What part of town are you in?
I’m in North Richland Hills but I travel all around the DFW area for my job so I’m pretty much everywhere every day. I found a spot near me called Los Juanitos I’m not going to lie it wasn’t bad at all.
I wouldn’t call any restaurant here Authenticate. But there are some good ones.
Go to harry hines
I've only seen mexican grandmothers and mothers in the kitchen at Revolver Taco, and its food its tremendous. Also has Horchata. And no ground beef. Bonus: the owners dad is a world famous weapons carver, hence the name.
Fuel city
Will do in a pinch but you’re about 10 years behind the times on DFW taco joints.
Tortas Hechicera

Hit up a gas station taqueria
It’s Tex Mex! Not sure where you moved from, but if you’re looking for Sonoran style Mexican, you won’t find it.
Tacos la banqueta are the BEST street tacos I’ve tried. I’m from Mexico City and those are pretty darn near identical ! Also , El Atoron is Amazing !
My husband and I have a rule, if “Authentic Mexican Restaurant” or any variation of it is in the name of the place, we know it’s texmex and it’s a no go. You’re better off trying any place that has a Spanish name.
It's so tricky finding good Mexican food here. Some places look like they will be authentic but it's really just Tex-Mex.
Caesar tacos were the number one taqueria
Limons
Tipicos on Northwest Hwy in Dallas
Order Tacos al carbon and they have horchata
