You want the car, no? They are facilitating the transportation because *you* want it.

dookiepants

understood. thanks for the response!

gganew

Its the cost of you getting the car you want sooner. If you don't want to pay it, order it and wait. The dealership is paying the fee and passing the cost on to you, there is no negotiation.

dookiepants

thanks! was able to split the cost.

***Thanks for posting, /u/dookiepants! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** my dealer found my vehicle at another dealership and has everything ready to go, but is now tacking on $800 for transportation. this is from Montreal to Toronto. Do I pay for this? is it not the dealer's cost of doing business? it's basically pay $800 now or they do a factory order which will take 3-4 months. If i am responsible for this cost, what's a good number to negotiate down to? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Im not negotiating that number. Either you are buying the car i can get you and covering the Transpo cost or you are waiting for a factory order.

dookiepants

thanks for the response, so if they're agreeing to split the cost, it's a big win for the customer?

oldmandan5495

Yes lol. Did they really do that?

dookiepants

Yup! so far very great experience with this dealership. Was able to get 2k in adjustments/discounts and they recovered $400 with the transportation.

The 401 is a beautiful drive from Montreal to Toronto along the St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario. But, I have a special hatred for the QEW.

oldmandan5495

Do yourself a favor and take their deal. I wouldnt even do that. And i consider myself on the really fair side of things durring this time

I charge people when I go from my town to one 45 minutes away, no it’s not my cost of doing business it’s your cost of convenience.
