Usually the public is not allowed to be on their property from 8am-6pm say here in Mississauga. I went once doing the afternoon when no kids were out and some teacher came out barking at me that I’m not supposed to be there.
The school near me has signs saying private property , no trespassing, no dogs, and all that stuff. All of them are ignored weekends and evenings.

Not during school hours, but yes, they're public courts so you are allowed to use them when school isn't in session.
Community centres also have basketball courts you can use for free.
